I prefer gelato to ice cream, but I do enjoy ice cream at Dairy Queen when gelato isn’t available. We went to the Cold Stone Creamery not long after it opened. Fancy preparation and somewhat reasonable prices buy you the most tasteless ice cream my friend and I have ever had. It doesn’t taste bad, it tastes like nothing, except sweet. The toppings are nothing special either. Dairy Queen is better and costs less.

Must love sugar and enjoy flavours like cotton candy, sweet cream, peanut butter, coffee and chocolate cake batter. Keep this in mind that Tim Horton’s in conveniently connected to the store. There was a mad rush at the til because it was the last day to use the Groupon. This location is also open 24⁄7 which is great for students burning the midnight oil for tests and finals. Like it, Love it, Gotta Have it replace the small, medium and large sizes. You can create your own or try a signature creations, we tried both! The Founders Favourite and Orange cream with peanut butter cups, our own little creation.(Both were delish and apparently Kosher too!) After a spoonfuls the sugar buzz kicked we were singing and dancing and thought we were at Karaōke! This secret desert spot of Point Grey has a Tim Horton’s feel to it, with a ice creamery bonus added. The prices are decent too!

I’m a gelato girl without a doubt, but the repetitive electronic chorus of «Music Box Dancer» blasting from the ice cream truck cruising our neighbourhood put me in the rare mood for some ice cream. Rather than joining the legions of kids running after the truck I thought it was time to finally try one of those cold stone/marble slab type places. Because I was uninitiated to the procedures and all of the options in this store I simply ordered the«Founder’s Favorite» because I figured the founder would not lead me astray, would he/she? Essentially they took some semi-soft sweet cream ice cream, threw it on a cold slab of marble and smooshed some pecans, brownies, fudge and caramel into it until it became a dairy slurry. Was it very different than let’s say a DQ Blizzard, not much. I really thought that I would receive something more resembling hard ice cream than soft ice cream, but this is no fault of Cold Stone, I hadn’t bothered to find out ahead of time what to expect. It was good for what it was. I would imagine it is very enjoyable to have the variety of soft ice cream flavours and add-in options if this is your thing.
