This place is a true Vancouver tragedy, as many revolving restaurants are. That such a phenomenal view is owned by such a disappointing restaurant is just heart-breaking. If you want to have nothing more than drinks then this place is(almost) fantastic. But BEWARE the food. Old and very much in need of a renovation, Cloud 9 is like stepping right back into 1982. In every way. Do you like prime-rib and beige? You might be happy. My brother was staying at the hotel and he has two toddlers so we decided the upstairs restaurant would be a happy convenience with a great view. We should have checked Unilocal first. I imagine almost all of their business is from tourists and first-time customers. Service was slow(understaffed?). We ordered off of the set-price menu — 30 bucks for boring, un-seasoned soup and Arctic Char that was like wet, overcooked salmon. I’ve truly never had a worse fish dish in my life. Bland beyond belief. We were desperate for salt and pepper but none is provided on the table. Vegetables under-cooked and a horrible cherry sauce. The rack of lamb was similarly under-seasoned. Garlic potatoes weren’t bad though. As a family, we almost never send things back or complain, but this time we simply had no choice. The waiter was nice enough about it and they eventually took the fish entrée off of the bill and gave my brother a free salad. I guess that’s something. If anyone from management reads this, please, I beg you, take the necessary steps to elevate this place! I want to love it! That incredible view should not be wasted! If only it was an upscale sushi or tapas bar. Until things change, BEWAREANDAVOID!!! Definitely not to be confused with fine dining.

This restaurant is only worth going to for the view. I could tell back in the day it was probably very popular, but now with chefs making the priority that the food tastes good, I’ve been to much better restaurants at a fraction of the price. The server was super friendly, but unfortunately the restaurant made a huge blunder in my opinion. I am vegan and was happy to see a vegan main, bean cassoulet, labeled on the menu, so ordered that, letting the server know I was vegan. The winter salad tasted a little off. When the main came it visually looked appealing and was a HUGE portion. Unfortunately there was butter on the bread and veggies. Since it was labelled vegan on the menu, I asked to make sure it wasn’t earth balance butter or something but unfortunately I was right. They took the dish back and did not charge for it. So disappointing to have that happen at any restaurant, especially one that touts itself as fine dining.

Ate here with my family the week before Christmas. This place is very run down and dirty. Hallways and bathrooms are nothing short of disgusting. This restaurant was once modern and well-kept but my guess is that after the trend of revolving restaurants went out of vogue in the late 70’s the lack of cash flow and high overhead has made it very difficult to keep a restaurant of this type in good repair. Worn out carpets, bland flavorless food with some good and some very«informal» staff that you would expect to find in a government run dinner. All this for premium prices. The view is fantastic but after 15 minutes you start to notice that you are in a tired worn out restaurant with poor food. It is not a good experience.

Great great GREAT view!(If you go during sunset). Food very basic, simple — doesn’t taste great, yet it doesn’t taste awful but kind of pricey since it suppose to be a high end restaurant. The place is very old and classic and majority of the customers and even staff are older(mostly seniors). Very good service. Do not expect delicious tasting food– the food is just normal and decent portion, but the view is amazing — great experience if you want to see the city light at night. Parking is cheap too! Compare to other places $ 8 from 6pm to 6am? Not bad!

My fiancé took me here for my birthday this past weekend. He made a reservation online for 7:30pm. When we arrived, there was a huge crowd of people at the reception area and no host. It took 15 minutes just for someone to check us in. When the gentleman finally checked us in, he said we didn’t have a reservation. We showed him the online booking confirmation and he said that online reservations aren’t guaranteed. I’m sorry, what? Why have an online reservation system if the reservation doesn’t mean anything? The gentleman could tell I was frustrated so he showed us a table that was available, except it wasn’t a window seat. He said it would be a half hour wait for the window, but we agreed to wait. As we waited, I saw a couple empty window seats go by(remember, it’s a revolving restaurant. Albeit, it revolves quite slowly, but you can still tell it’s revolving). Less than 5 minutes later, the gentleman came back and said he had a window seat available for us. I was impressed that we didn’t have to wait a half hour extra like he had originally suggested. The service after that was great. Our server mentioned that they were understaffed that night(two servers had called in sick) and they were busier than usual on Sunday. I figured it was so busy since the Supermoon was that night(which we actually got to see while having dinner. That was pretty neat). He was still attentive and didn’t take too long with anything. The food was okay. It was nice they have a reasonably priced three course meal to choose from($ 30-$ 40 depending on the day and your main), but the food was just mediocre. My soup was great but my main wasn’t. I had the cod which had a ton of bone in it. I did not enjoy picking that out of my mouth. The wild rice wasn’t great either. My fiancé had the prime rib which was okay. Our server brought us a molton lava cake, with a candle, for my birthday. Although I appreciated receiving the dessert, it didn’t taste very good. I’m a big fan of cake too, but this was pretty rubbery and was probably a couple days old. The cheesecake that came with our meals was pretty good though. Also, the washrooms are in strangest place. You have to go past the kitchen(try not to bump into any servers accidentally on your way) and up a flight of stairs. Try not to use the washroom if you don’t have to. I wouldn’t mind coming here again, right at sunset, for the views, but I won’t expect anything from the food.

I came here two years ago and the food and service was spectular. I come here again and omg the food has gone downhill and the service was slow. Of course the real reason we even dine here is for the beautiful view. But the food is so disgusting and ineditable it makes me question if it was even worth the view. Their halibut had a really bad taste and smell to it. The prime rib was under seasoned and full of fat and gristle and the sides were drench in grease. I orderd the peach fuzz that tasted like waterdown toliet water with a hint of sour peach and you want me to pay $ 6 for that. Seriously the food tasted worse than the food at Denny’s… The bathrooms are located upstairs and there is something foul in that hallway you can smell the stench from the doors. I get that the view is the best part of the dining experience and if so you’d think they’d clean the outside and especially inside of the windows, they’re so dusty and dirty. Would I come back again? Heck no

Went here for my wedding anniversary dinner. In the heart of Vancouver, BC and on top of one of the tallest buildings there. You can compare it to the restaurant at the Seattle Space Needle. The view. You just can’t beat it. You get a 360 degree view of the city and it really takes your breath away. Can really impress your date. Sunset was beautiful but the only bad part is that the sun shines on you once you are on that side and with no stable shade you since the restaurant is revolving. We each ordered the three course feature for dinner. There was free bread which came with some sort of balsamic oil. First was the kale salad, which was not appetizing. As you can see there is barely any kale and looks like some cut up lettuce with some garnish thrown on; this is something you can easily make anywhere. For the main course I got the Prime Rib and my wife got the Red Snapper. Definitely not worth the price. Prime rib was medium just as I ordered but was bland and chewy, and for $ 40 I expect a lot better. The Red Snapper was super spicy, and not the good way. Fish seemed overcooked and rubbery. Lastly, we just wanted to look forward to the desserts halfway through the main course because you can’t go wrong with desserts right? Right, desserts was the best part of the meal besides the free bread. We got cheesecake which we love eating and it was pretty good. It didn’t look and taste like it was made in house though. With the price you pay for the meals there you would expect better. Since it was our anniversary, we were surprised with a molten lava cake presented to us. It was a kind and thoughtful gesture, but not something I would eat again. The only good thing besides the view was the friendly service. It did take a while to get out food but it was okay since we were enjoying the view and you can’t really blame the waiters for the delay. Except that the restaurant was barely half full. Interior décor looked out of date and old fashioned. We dressed up for our special day, I had a suit and wife a gorgeous outfit. It was awkward since I thought it would be a fine dining environment but there were people in there dressed from casual to sportswear, and a few formal. Not sure with the price and fancy restaurant aura what the dress code should be? Overall I’m not mad that we spent a fortune and came all the way from the U.S., just a little disappointed. Yes to the view and one time experience, No to everything else. 2.5÷5

I’m poor* so I rarely go to expensive restaurants, and Cloud 9 is, in my opinion, expensive. And overrated. The first time I went to Cloud 9 was earlier this year during Dine Out Vancouver with a friend, and while I no longer remember the details of our meal, I don’t remember it being terrible. Nothing special, but not terrible. The second time I went was Friday evening. For quite some time my mom has been obsessed with the idea of going to Cloud 9 for a drink, and on Friday evening my mom, a friend, and I went to Cloud 9 for dinner. I arrived early so I had a glass of wine while waiting. I’m no wine expert, but I was not impressed with the wine selection. The choices were limited, and the selection was mediocre at best. Unsurprisingly, the wine I ordered was not very good. If I’m going to pay $ 9 to $ 12 for a glass of wine at a «fancy» restaurant, I have some expectation of a decent glass of wine. Hell, I’ve had Copper Moon boxed wine at a movie theater that tasted better! Each month they have a three course feature consisting of a starter, entrée, and dessert.(Note: while there are options for the starter and entrée, surprisingly there is only one dessert item, so if you can’t eat it/don’t like it, tough, and on the menu they only list it as «chef’s special dessert feature», so you can’t decide whether you want to order the three course special until you have asked the server what the dessert is, which I find really annoying.) All three of us ordered the«Alberta Angus Prime Rib served with garlic mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, rosemary demi glaze and seasonal vegetables» entrée, and wow. It was not good. While I admit that I don’t know my steak, I do know that the steak was not good. It was fatty and flavourless. The Yorkshire pudding was dry and chewy; the vegetables primarily consisted of a HUGE piece of broccoli; and the small scoop of garlic mashed potatoes were the worst garlic mashed potatoes I have ever had in my life – extremely dry and bland. The kale Caesar salad was good and the cheesecake was alright, but the meal was definitely not worth $ 40. The entire time I was thinking that we should have just gone to the Keg. Also, the Shiraz I ordered was meh. I’m a drinker but I had difficulty finishing even two glasses of wine. Maybe the wine was fine and it was just the food that ruined it, but regardless, drinking wine should not be a chore. The server was also annoying, making too many stupid jokes. I don’t mind some lighthearted banter and a joke here and there, but he joked way too much, and his jokes were not funny in the first place. Every time he brought us something or placed a dish on our table, he had something«funny» to say. For example, our friend is extremely allergic to shellfish so mentioned that when ordering, and when he placed her meal in front of her, he joked, «and here’s a Caesar salad with shrimp.» *eye roll* He made a similar joke when he brought me my dessert. Seriously, STFU if you can’t be funny! Addendum: I forgot to mention the washrooms. They were very shabby and poorly maintained, and there was no water pressure from the taps, just a thin trickle of water. *I’m also single, FYI, if any rich, single guys happen to be reading this ;)

If you’re expecting super fancy and swanky this may not be your place. The décor is very much dated to when the facilities were built and there’s not much to dress it up. My guess is that it’s all the original paint, furniture and décor of the 60s or 70s? Not sure. Not much info on the place. We heard of it from the bus driver that took us to the suspension bridge. We decided to go for the view and that met our expectation. It was beautiful and unobstructed. We didn’t know how long it took, but it was over an hour. My guess is the staff paces their check ins with you with the expectation that you will be there for that long. Our waitress was decent, nothing more or memorable. We had drinks and appetizers which were decent. They were a little on the pricey side so don’t expect happy hour bargains. I would definitely go again for the views and probably get cocktails as well. I’m sure if the restaurant revamped a little and advertised the experience would be different. Enjoy the view!

Unlike others I had a great experience. I was there before sunset and had an amazing view, service and food. I ordered the landmark plate which was great and the apple dumpling was delicious . You will see all Vancouver from different sides. I highly recommend this place

An amazing resource in Vancouver squandered by poor management, ragged facilities and inattentive anti-social service. The view is INCREDIBLE. Your table rotates for a full 360 degree view of the city in about 80 minutes. And you’ll need it. It took about 10 min for the waitress to even notice us and say hello, when she came by she asked if we were good, as if we’d already been helped. This weird service continued the entire dinner. The food took another 25 min after that to come to our table, during which the waitress only came by ONETIME, about 2 min before it arrived, to let us know it was on its way. 35 min in we started to eat our appetizer. Fortunately the view is so incredible that you keep your eyes focused out the window and not on the interior of the restaurant, which was decorated in the 70s by an out of work circus performer. The paint is peeling, the furniture is all falling apart, the tables are all chipped(fortunately the dining room mostly covers them in linen, not so in the lounge), there is food from the 70s still caked along the outer wall — which is convenient because everyone in the entire restaurant will see every inch of it as the restaurant revolves. Weirdly you wouldn’t even know the restaurant existed unless you had guessed from the shape of the top of the building that it was up there. There are no signs on the street outside the hotel at all, there are no signs at all inside the hotel lobby. It is only when you get right next to the elevator that you see ONLY the name of the restaurant, Cloud 9, with no hint or indication of what it is all about. Due to the lack of advertisement, or perhaps reputation, on a Sunday long weekend holiday evening the place was barely half full… ATSUNSET! I have to say… the location of this restaurant beats Harbour Centre hands down. The views of the north shore are entirely unobstructed. However, the complete lack of thought to diner’s experience is the downfall of this place, and there is nothing to support the amazing views. They could have signs on the wall or pamphlets to help viewers know what they were looking at, could give diners a bit of the story of the different things /areas they see outside the window, there could be a bit of info about the restaurant itself, like how long it takes to revolve, when it was built. Make it a positive experience! The complete lack of sociality of the servers is no help and didn’t even ask if it was our first time here, if we were visiting Vancouver, if we needed any orientation info or pointing out interesting things to look at. Maybe they are so shellshocked by the beautiful view that they loathe having to deal with we peons who are distracting them with our food and drink orders. This place needs a serious work-over by someone who has some imagination and wants to give the diners the experience the view deserves(or just wants to make a restaurant that makes money versus this place, which must be operating at a horrible loss).

Sigh. What is going on with this place? They have the absolute best view in town — a 360-degree revolving restaurant and lounge that is FREE to visit(unlike the Harbour Centre tower). It is certainly worth a visit for the view. Yet it manages to suck in every other way. The drinks are overpriced, and I was pretty horrified to discover on a recent visit that they’ve raised the prices even more. It’s now something like $ 8 for a bottle of beer and $ 12 for cocktails. This would be fine if you were receiving a cocktail that was worth $ 12. Instead, you get a glass half filled with ice, and on my latest visit the drink was filled up to almost an inch below the rim. I would have sent it back but I was with guests and didn’t want to make it awkward. Also, while it tries to maintain an upscale ambience with its pricing and general atmosphere, it manages to totally ruin the vibe with its menus that look like something I would have made on Microsoft Publisher when I was 12. You also have to navigate past the kitchen up a brightly lit hallway to the very basic washrooms. This place just can’t decide whether it’s supposed to be fancy or not — except when it comes to how they price their drinks, I guess. They need to undergo some serious changes to keep this place going — as evidenced by how empty it is whenever I go up. All in all I would absolutely go to this place just once if you’re a tourist to Vancouver. Just sit out the 45 minutes with your drink to enjoy the view, then get the heck out of there.

The view was nice and they had a 3 course meal special at the time of our visit. We had the seafood chowder, braised lamb and cheesecake. The food was definitely below average and was not worth the price. I ordered a coke and they did not offer free refill so I had to pay $ 4 per cup of coke. I had 2 cokes and my husband had 2 beers, which added up to just as much as our meal. Just like others had said, you’re paying for the view. I will never go back to this place again.

I came here for dinner for my birthday. Pros +Beautiful 360 view of the city! MUST come just for that Cons –Food was below average. I have gotten better food quality at average restaurants for lower prices. –Bathroom and hallways needed cleaning, toliets were not working, need renovation 5 stars for the view 1 star for the food I would come back ONLY for the city views. I would suggest coming for drinks + view only.

I had supper tonight here with my brother, Lance, and his wife, Mei, who live here. It takes an hour and 20 minutes to do one rotation(we went around twice). I had the Penne with Spicy Chorizo in a rosé sauce rather than the mushroom sauce … it was good! I would get it again. Mei and Lance both ordered the fixed meal deal. They started with a salad. Mei ordered Prime Rib as her main. It looked good and she said it was. Lance ordered Fettucini with Chorizo and Tiger Prawns. He said it was good. They finished with Tiramisu. Though the restaurant closed at 10pm, the lounge remained open. What a nice spot to have a drink and see the city! This is Mei and Lance’s special occasion spot and I can see why. It’s a lovely place to have supper as the meals are a bit fancier and the views are spectacular. Lesley was our server and she took good care of us.

2.75 stars I love food and I’m satisfied easily but honestly, our meal here was sub-par and the service barely pushed my overall rating to slightly above average. My linguine with prawns and scallops tasted very average and I’ve had better at much cheaper places for less than half the price. Their tenderloin was below average and we could have gotten something better at the Keg for cheaper! Now, I must admit that we only came here for the view and the novelty of eating at a revolving restaurant but I felt that they could at least put in a bit more effort in their dishes? The view was amazing but the décor and furniture were a bit outdated and old. The only thing that impressed me was the kindness of the waiters because they were extremely welcoming and unpretentious, while still being professional. Anyways, even though we were a bit disappointed by their food, we were surprised at the end of our meal with a slice of complimentary birthday cake! Although it was obvious that the cake was store-bought, we appreciated the gesture and were very grateful for our waiter’s thoughtfulness. If you really want to enjoy the view from this restaurant, you may consider coming here for a few drinks and small bites rather than a full dinner.

I came here with a very large group for dinner. I’m pretty sure this restaurant was chosen solely for the view, which is spectacular. Vancouver is beautiful, and there is no better place to enjoy a 360 degree view of the city. However, everything else about this experience was lackluster. The service started great in that we got our drink orders and menu choices taken relatively quickly given the size of the group. However, that quickly deteriorated, and by the end of it a lot of people had empty water glasses. It took close to an hour for everyone to receive either the starter soup(cream of mushroom) or salad(lettuce with mozzarella cheese, tomato, and olive oil). The salad was alright, nothing to write home about. It took much longer to receive the entrée courses for our table. By the time we got our entrees(we were the last table), the first table was already receiving their desserts. The entrée options included salmon, shrimp fettuccine, or a vegetarian pasta, and everything was overcooked. The shrimp, salmon, pasta, you name it. It was almost inedible. We got the tiramisu cake dessert before everyone at the table finished their entrée, and I am 99.999% sure it came from a box and was not made in the kitchen. On top of this, I spent the entire meal feeling dizzy and sick from the revolving restaurant. I’ve eaten at revolving restaurants before and didn’t really have this problem, so I’m not sure if it spins faster than other restaurants or if it was just an off day for me. Regardless, I doubt I’d ever come here again. Maybe come here for a cocktail, but I wouldn’t come here for dinner. 2 stars, but only for the view.

For the record, I didn’t have dinner here. I came for dessert, drinks, ANDTHEVIEW. The view is 5 stars and is very comparable to the revolving restaurant(SkyCity) on top of the Space Needle in Seattle. However, the food and dessert were average. The Piquant Chicken Wings are cooked well but are DRENCHED in whatever sauce you choose(I believe there’s 3 or 4 different ones to choose from). Not something I would re-order. The Mint Chocolate Terrine is actually above par. I liked the texture to the terrine, and we added a scoop of Vanilla ice cream for good measure. It definitely compliments the dessert perfectly, and I actually recommend getting it with that scoop of ice cream. I mean, good dessert, okay appetizer with an AMAZING view. I’d honestly come back just for the view while grabbing an appetizer and a dessert again. But for an expensive dinner? Probably not.
