Last weekend my girlfriend celebrated Mother’s DAy and wanted to spend it with her daughter(makes no sense to me considering that most moms want peace and quiet on M-day). She invited me to hang out with her since her daughter adores me. I can’t say no to a kid that personally called my land-line and left an ubber cute message on the phone wanting to spend time with her auntie. We spent a portion of the afternoon on Grandville Island inspire of the fluctuating weather. This was one of the shops that we went to. Most of the games are slightly out of date but never out of style. I even played a few of the games for nostalgia purpose, especially the rolling ball ball game(can’t remember the technical official name for the game. You know where you roll the ball and try and get it into one of the loops). I think I had way too much fun here that my inner child came out. Surprisingly this wasn’t as busy as one would expect.

I wouldn’t visit Granville Island just to come here, but it is super fun as a complement to other activities for kids visiting the Kids’ Market on Granville Island. There are lots of fun kids games from the 80s which I remember playing when I was a kid, such as Skee-ball, Whack-a-mole and the one where you shoot colourful balls basketball-styles up into some characters’ mouth. Prices of games range from 0.25 to $ 1.00. Machines take coins or tokens. Our little guy loves to cash in the tickets that dispense out of the machine after each game played. Tickets can be traded in for dollar store treats at the prize stand located across from Circuit City next to the Adventure Zone playground. About 4 of the machines were out of order when we went on a busy weekend. However, in my experience, this isn’t a common occurrence. Still a good place to come on a rainy day.

Staff here look disinterested and treat customers rudely. If you have any pinball/video game trouble, expect an arguement before getting re-imbursed. But in April 2010, they did put in a brand new Big Buck Hunter pinball and you get 3 plays for $ 1. Other videogames are reasonably priced and it is mostly empty.
