Uhhhh, it’s a Post office. Never had any problems with this location.

This post office is probably the worst office in the world. Canada Post does not care about customer service in general, but this one wins the worst category by far. I wish I could choose which post office to pick up missed package but apparently I can’t. Honestly, it is a pure pain every time to visit there. Ladies there are so rude. (Except one younger girl.) Don’t go, if you have a choice.

So since I just recently had a baby, people have been sending me stuff. However, sometimes I don’t answer the door because well, I’m not really in the condition to answer the door (i.e. boobs hanging out, baby crying, catching some zz’s, etc). Thus, I get a little sticky note tagged to my post box that a package is there for me at my nearby Canada Post which happens to be in Chinatown.
So I go there with my sticky note, my driver’s license (with my current address) and my baby.
The crazy lady behind the counter says, that my first name (which is different from my official id name) does not match the address on the box. I say, that’s my nickname. She says IT DOES NOT MATCH THE BOX. (yes in all caps). I said, well sorry but my ID has my address on it and I have the note you guys left on my mailbox.
Lady says, next time you receive a package in the mail make sure the sender puts your legal name on it otherwise we can’t give it to you (in highly accented broken English).
If someone sends me a package that I do not know I am getting, how do I tell them to put down my full legal name (many people don’t even know how to say it, let alone spell it, hence the reason for my nickname)?? Thank you Canada Post for making my head spin even more. Not to mention why does it take longer to send mail across Canada then it does in to send it cross country in the US???

Ok, so I need to send some documents all the way across the country, and need to do it quickly. Canada Post seems like a logical choice, right?

Lettermail (no time guarantee): $ 2.06
Xpresspost (3 day guarantee): $ 22.35
Priority Next A.M. (3 day guarantee — yes Next AM means 3 days as well!!!): $ 32.54
WTF? How is Priority Next AM a 3 day delivery window — the same as Xpresspost!!! I’m just confused.
It was explained to me that Priority Next AM only works to some places — not all of Canada. Um… Ok. Then why not call it «Priority Sometime in the Future if we feel like it and like your destination»!!!
Fedex Express for the same shipment was only $ 21.54. Guess how the documents got sent!!!
When it Absolutely Positively Doesn’t Have to be There Overnight, use Priority Next AM I suppose! Ugh!
