Don’t go in for the customer service. I came here for my mom and they acted like they had better things to do. I was in Oakridge with her and she wanted a new pair of shoes with her sari. My mom’s feet are small and she has a wide tip. They seemed annoyed at her. Frankly I felt a little disrespected in the store as well. Yes my mom has small feet, so what, get over it. There have been times in which some of the shoes that are a size bigger actually fit my mom due to make. I will admit that they do have some nice boots = awesome shoe porn.

This time, a 4 star for allowing full refund even though bought the shoes before Christmas @ Richmond Centre. And yes, being a guy, I lost the $ 250 receipt but luckily I had a gift receipt. Still some good deals going on, up to 70% off. Been renovated for some time, more seating. Good men’s selection.

I was here with my boyfriend the other day doing our Xmas shopping. We split up in the store to look at each different section(men’s and ladies). I noticed that even though Brown’s had a fair bit of staff on, no one was there when I needed a size check. As I looked over to the guys section, there were like 3 of them standing around just chatting. Shouldn’t they be looking around making sure to check if anyone needs a hand? I’ve been to other Brown’s locations and other stores like Town Shoes, and they are always helpful and there when you need help looking for a size. A little annoyed because it’s always like this at this location.

Just wrote a complaint letter to Browns about the service in Oakridge. In short, the service is snotty and non attentive. Standing at the cashier area I was ignored and it wasn’t busy. Salespeople were standing at either end of the counter looking at the entrance. And the poor girl who sold my gift certificate looked scared to ask for help because she didn’t know how to process my sale. When I asked the Asian girl, who was assisting the cashier, a question about a brand of shoe she answered me with a dismissal attitude. I’ve worked at customer service most of my 50 years and KNOW there is something wrong with this store. Possibly bad day? Bad group of staff? Job misery? Whatever, I do not spend money where I do not feel welcomed. Hence, the 2 stars. My friend came in to look for me in the store and I had already gone to another store. When he met up with me he even mentioned he felt an air of snobbiness at Browns. And when I told my story to my sister, she said she got the same thing at the Richmond location. Message to Browns: get your act together because I can get the same shoes elsewhere.

I wanted to invest in a good quality and comfortable pair of pumps. My friend suggested Micheal Kors or Stuart Weitzman pumps. And I could definitely find both of those brands at Brown’s. The service was attentive and helpful. The woman helping me offered advice like: wearing stockings to help me break-in the shoes, sprays to keep the patent leather shiny and confirmation that the leather will gradually loosen. However, I saw what looked to be scuffs on the shoes(last pair). When I walked away from it, the worker seemed pretty frustrated and wasn’t very nice about it. I didn’t want to spend $ 150 on damaged shoes! I know she wants the sale but, she could have been more understanding of that! Plus she didn’t even mention the fact that they can order in a new pair, which I know they do. Anyway, I ended up returning near closing time(thankfully they let me in, a little grudgingly) and I realized it was bits of glue that could be rubbed off. It was nice they put my shoe box in a reusable Brown’s bag too. In the end, I am very happy with the purchase =) TIP: Another great way to wear in your heels without actually wearing them is to fill a zip-lock bag with water, place it to wear you wanna stretch, and put it in the freezer. That way, once the water turns to ice, the ice will gently stretch out your shoe!

I order a pair of winter boots and I wanted a brand new pair because the boots inside the store looked warned down. The people at the store told me that I will have to pay for full price and they will order the brand new boot for me. I did it and the next day they called me and told me that the boot has arrived. I was a little suspicious because it was so fast. I look at the boot briefly and I took it home and I realized that it was the same pair I tried on at the store. I don’t think what happened was too acceptable, but I do realized the store gets busy and these staff members need to think twice how they do things.
