The other reviewer apparently had a lousy experience in 2010, but as we all know, the loudest voices are usu. the unhappiest ones, and despite Bart E.‘s experience Brascia’s really know their stuff. You simply don’t stay in business for nearly 40 years w/o providing a great product & excellent customer service. This is an old-school, downtown, boutique suit-buying experience. If you want to shop at a department store, or looking for something cheap, there are plenty of other choices, but if I’m going to lay down the $$$ for a new suit I want to know that the people in the shop know what they’re talking about.

I was very disapointed in Brascia’s. A little background: I have been buying high end custom suits for six or seven years. Most stores — from the big(Harry’s) to the small boutiques(like this one) carry roughly the same stuff — despite claims they might make. So what choice comes down to in my opinion is service and the experience. I did not have a good experience here. Before I plunk down $ 1500 on a custom suit I need to feel comfortable with the people I am dealing with. As a trial I took a suit that needed some alterations into Brascia’s. This was a garment I had ordered from Toronto and had yet to be looked at. Mike spent the next half hour telling me the garment was poorly made, that my store in Toronto(who has made great suits for me) didn’t know what I needed, that it was all he could do to try to make it look good. I tried on another jacket that I owned and loved and he made a comment about that one two. It wasn’t a great experience but I left the garments for alteration — but not before telling him to wait one day before starting since there was a chance my tailor would know someone in BC who would do it for free. I called back the next day as promised and said it turned out they would do it for free and so would be coming to pick the suit up. When I got there he brought it out — with the alterations almost done! I suggested I pay some and rather than doing the right thing and saying«no charge»(he admitted he should have waited) he took my money! Then I asked him to sew the still-open jacket up so I could wear it and he was offended that I would want this done… so I said«forget it» and left. All in all this was a very disappointing experience and I will not be back. Mike didn’t seem to know that by insulting my existing clothier repeatedly he was insulting my choice. Taking the high road would have done him much better.
