The burgers are pretty good but it is very frustrating because the hours that are posted on their establishment and online tend to be more of a guideline. I have attempted to eat here more times than I have actually been able to do so because the doors are locked.

Paid $ 15 for a medium well burger that was half burnt and didn’t taste very good, fries that were partially burnt and a pop. Won’t be going back.

On Sunday early evening around 6ish, my daughter and I were both having low blood sugar and I wanted to go back to Freshii but they were closed*sigh* so we walked east to try Big Smoke Burger. She’s eaten there once before so I said sure I’ll try it! I decided on the Jerk Chicken and when it came it smelled soon good. Unfortunately there was only 1 slice of tomato and 1 small leaf of lettuce, kinda disappointed about that. On the plus side the bbq sauce was the perfect sweet to spicy, banana peppers fine and the portion of chicken breast good… a little bit dry but fine. After 2 bites the burger fell apart so it got messy. Overall good but I’m still feeling hungry. I will be back to try the veggie burger and maybe a side of something

I was bad! I had gluten and dairy but it was so worth it. I got the Big Smoke Burger(horseradish mayo, caramelized onions, smoked cheddar, tomato + lettuce) but sub for the veg patty. This burger is huge, melt in your mouth, juice running down your hands, deliciousness. The horseradish is the first thing that punches you in the face. But then you get the sweet caramelized onions, and the fresh whole wheat bun… and then the burger is the last thing that sends this through the roof. It was drool worthy fantastic. This is hands down, one of the top 3 veg burgers I have had. Plus the staff is super friendly and fun to engage with! The only complaint I have is the patty is not home made. What makes a good burger joint is real ingredients and fresh burger pairings/additions. What makes a great burger joint is making a homemade vegetarian burger(better if its GF, best if its GF and vegan). I was disappointed when I found out they use Sols burger(found in your local freezer). I’m still going to go back, but I’ll try to be a better person and not get dairy or eat gluten! So good!

Not licensed and won’t make their burgers any rarer than medium-well done — not how I want my burger — it should be pink — so their menu that Unilocal links to lies as it has beer and wine options and claims to make the burger how I want. More lies. Just another overpriced burger joint with delusions of craft quality — but not really

Blue burger was okay, not great. The avocado wasn’t seasoned as I would have liked, it had a sweet taste not savoury. The poutine was excellent. Had the burger been great this would have been 4 stars easily.

Finally get to try the Toronto Burger Big Smoke Burger. Heard it was suppose to be super good. Well came over and decided to give it a try. Walked in. Not too busy so that’s good because I only get 1 hour lunch between 12pm to 1 pm. So looked at the menu and I have to say everything seem very interesting. I ended up getting the Big Smoke Burger. I got it to go. Burger was made quick in about 5 mins. Well this is good quality patty that they used so I got it medium rare. I mean I usually don’t get asked how do I want my patty cooked. There are about 5 people in the kitchen and one person taking order. That is a lot of people working here for such a small burger joint. I took the burger back to work to eat and the bottom bun was a bit soggy. The patty is definitely very juicy and delicious with the exception the bottom bun being soggy. I have to say, I was a bit messy in eating it. I suggest eating it there, I have a feeling it will be less soggy and less messy. The burger was definitely good. but not to the point of excellent yet. In terms of the décor, the restaurant is nice and clean and definitely has a better look and feel compared to Vera Burger or Fat Burger. I would rank Big Smoke above them that’s for sure.

If you want to indulge on some big and juicy burger, then this is your place to be! I enjoyed their Big Smoke Burger and onion rings a lot! Flavours were spot on and they also have a lot of add ons just incase you want more! Place is small though but very nice and clean. The staff are friendly and service was fast and efficient.

I had a late afternoon lunch here today at 2:30PM. I was greeted when I entered. I decided to have the chicken burger combo with fries. I chose lettuce, mayo, onions, and extra pickles on my burger. My food came quickly; I think about eight minutes. The chef brought it out to me! There was a lot of sauce on my burger — to the point that it was dripping out of the bun. A wipe with the napkin took care of that. My burger didn’t come with any pickles on it, so I was later given some on the side. The sesame bun held up for the entire duration of burger eating. The fries were delicious, although some had a touch too much seasoning salt on them, and there were a number of little bits. I prefer the meatier ones. While this is just my preference, I would like my burger half wrapped in the parchment paper like you use to line your trays, so that you can see half of it, and the other half is wrapped so your hands don’t get all messy. The bathroom was strange to me. It was like I was walking into your cleaning closet. Industrial cleaners in Costco-sized amounts available in the public bathroom is unusual. There was no hook on the back of the door for my coat or bag, and this small addition would certainly make things easier and more pleasant. The service was fantastic. Having the chef serve you your meal is amazing. The counter attendant was cheerful. The chef also came back to ask me how the food was. He came back a second time to ask me if I wanted a refill on my drink, which he refilled himself and brought back to me himself. While some of the décor was great: the rustic wooden tables and the lighting, some of the décor was not so great: some decals on the walls were peeling. Overall, the restaurant was clean and well organized, other than the bathroom/cleaning closet.

THANKYOU. Finally a decent burger spot in this neighbourhood. Stopped by for lunch yesterday – service was patient and friendly, the food was fresh, the burgers cooked to perfection and juicy. I love the option of getting a 4oz or 6oz size. We waited about five minutes for our food which I thought was really decent. Tried the onion rings; very fresh and nicely crispy but lacking in seasoning. Adding vinegar did the trick. It would be great to see salt and pepper shakers on the tables in the future. We’ll be headed back next time we need a quick burger fix!

Solid burgers Offerings of milkshake, poutine, onion rings and burgers. Menu is pretty focused. Clean and trendy venue. The burgers are offered in 6 or 9 ounces and served to your cooking preference. Burgers were delicious. That’s all you really need to know. Bonus points: Schweppes ginger ale Why the 3… Basically, the fries weren’t that great. –Fries weren’t too great. Felt overcooked and soggy. –i ordered a poutine. Poutine doesn’t need to be smothered in gravy, but it does need a bigger helping than what was provided. For a Poutine, it was kinda dry. –And my friends salad was subpar. Why people order salads at a burger joint is beyond me. I thought it looked ok, but the friend was not impressed. This didn’t affect the score, but I felt I should mention that. Try the burgers. They are good.

Was in the area in need of lunch. My first time here, not sure I’d return. It’s really 2.5 out of 5 in my opinion. You get to select from 4oz or 6oz. I ordered the 4oz mushroom burger, added cheese, and small fries. Total with tax and 10% tip came to $ 14. A little pricey in my opinion, since the portions are rather small. ***EDIT — this price did not include a drink, it was not a «combo”*** They seem to like the idea of adds on. You can change your beef patty to a veg patty, organic beef, or chicken breast; costing an extra 2.5 to your burger. There are other cheeses and dips you can add as well. And of course you can make your burger a combo but it’ll run you an extra five bucks.

With two failed attempts at burger joints in our neighbourhood in Max’s Burgers and Sliders, I was excited(albeit concerned) to see another company take a stab at it. Thankfully, I have not been disappointed! To be honest, I have not explored their menu a whole lot but the Big Smoke Burger with a pickle and fries is bliss. That’s all you need to know. The ambiance and music are decent and it’s the perfect little hole-in-the-wall burger bar that this area needed. My bathroom scale might be frowning but my face is definitely smiling. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

I had their basic 4oz beef burger with all the toppings & a side of poutine. The burger was pretty good, but nothing I’d go out of my way for. Be warned: the jalapeños on the burgers are full of seeds, so are incredibly(perhaps uncomfortably) hot. Poutine was great and they did not skimp on the cheese curds! Overall it is a tad pricey given it is ultimately a fast food place where you order at the counter. That said, I’d go back if I happened to be in the area.

I heard some hype about Big Smoke opening in my neighbourhood and I wanted to try it out. I love burgers & fries & milkshakes. It’s order at the counter and then a server brings you the order to your seat. Casual, like a fast food joint. The difference is in the fresh ingredients. The burgers are big and tasty and lots of variety in toppings. The fries were only mediocre: soggy, not crispy and not salty — a little bland. The milkshake was okay but could have been thicker; seemed a little runny. I like that it’s walking distance and prices are reasonable. However, there are better burger joints in the city that I will get in my car to drive to eat there.

4 for marketing/ambience, 3.5 for the burger. This Toronto-based(I think, all over there a few months ago on a biz trip) sure chose a great location with little competition and offering a different choice. Glad I didn’t wait for over 30 minutes lol. Good but not great. Ordered their organic beef, added the cheddar cheese, mushrooms & caramelized onions, it’s a juicy one. Just the low-ceiling & noisiness, as it’s not really a sit-down to enjoy good convo, as it’s more of a takeout place. Their DT Toronto’s really happening with the loft style, 2 levels, but I digress… Good bun too. Worth repeating.

For the price these are pretty awful burgers. We ate there today(separately but compared thoughts after lunch). Both buns were very soggy, burger was dripping in grease. Fries weren’t crispy. The burger had completely disintegrated before I’d eaten half, and my compatriot says the same happened hers. The allegedly smokey burger(I had the namesake Big Smoke Burger) didn’t really taste of anything except greasey beef. The onions and smokey cheese really didn’t have anything going for them at all. The staff were actually fairly friendly, but this can’t make up for the very sub par food. If you want a good burger there are far many far better joints in Vancouver. Even nearby to Big Smoke there are far better. Why would you eat there…

This place literally just opened up today. Earlier this afternoon there was a line up that went 2 blocks down. I came back later with my meet up group after dessert to grab a burger. By then the pace was reasonably modest. It was still busy inside, however, not the clusterf*ck that it was earlier this afternoon. This was such a saving grace to make up for the terrible experience at the UYE at Cannibal Café(see review of that). There were some people in our Meet-Up group who are also part of Unilocal Elite who were at the UYE the other day whom needed a re-do on the burger situation. For starters the place is small and the kitchen is smaller than at Cannibal Café but yet they managed to get everyone’s order out in less than 10 minutes. This makes me believe that the 6 burgers to a grill excuse that they gave our party for the 90 minute wait(at Cannibal Café) was major horse sh*t. The service was so good here that it made me angrier about Cannibal Café the other day. I had the burger with sauteed mushrooms, rosemary mayo and onions. The burger was juicy and amazing. I ate the burger super fast. I inhaled it. This was a far better better than at Cannibal Café. To ad insult to injury on top of being the better burger, the price was cheaper. A single burger here was $ 8 without the side. At Cannibal Café it was $ 15 without the side. This place was so perfect upon first visit for all the right reasons that it made me angrier about the UYE situation. Shame on you cannibal café for such a horrible experience again, take a lesson from these guys. The lady at the cash til was super friendly but she was a little all over the place and kept forgetting to give me my receipt. P. S. I was aware that they were giving away free burgers this afternoon, however, I knew that it was going to be a gong show with freeloaders, therefore, we made it a point to come back to extend our Meet-Up experience(we went to dessert first, see that review). People are complaining ’cause they didn’t get their FREE burger… shame on you.

Not faster than McDonalds, but fast. It’s a tiny cafeteria with communal seats. The small kitchen back there is sardined with maybe over 10 people who are probably mostly grilling, because my burger came FAST. They were slammed, but fast service kept things moving with McDonalds-worthy speed. They only *sometimes* asked for a customer’s name so some orders got kind of confused, but it’s early days and they’re working out the kinks. Impressively swift operation with thankfully adequate kitchen staffing to keep the burgers coming(and hence, keeping the customer queue moving). (Signature) Big Smoke Burger($ 8.99?) horseradish mayo, caramelized onions, smoked cheddar, tomato, lettuce — Really, really, decent grilled-to«medium» rarity burger. Moist enough. No pink, but you are warned that the patties may come out with some pink. Good regulation thickness at approximately 1 cm thick. — Rest of the burger is a waste of time. Too boring: Not enough horseradish bite, not enough caramelized onions. — McDonalds style burger construction. This *may* be due to their being so busy at the time we walked in. — Price is OK due to the patty, but overall I would recommend you instead try another of their more interesting signatures. Hand-Cut Fries($ 3.89 to $ 5.69 as part of a combo) — A bit soft on the outside. Fresh but did not seem crispy enough to make them really good fries. — Portion for $ 3.49 is about the same as what you can get a The Cannibal Café for $ 1.95, so if you are going to get fries at all, do one of their combo deals and get a drink with it. They are still newish so cut them a bit of slack if they are awkward in conversation or struggling to remember protocol and lines.
