What I got: Chicken Viet Sub and Sugar Cane Drink Pros: — Service was great — Place was clean — Bread was fresh — Great prices Cons: — Need to make their chicken«lemon grass» style. The chicken they use is very plain and flavourless even with all the extra toppings. — Added way to much mayo — Sugar Cane drink wasn’t very good Would I go back: Not unless they add«lemon grass chicken» as I’m not a fan of the other meats.

Very solid 3.5 stars, and for the area, one of the nicer décor, cleaner ones, I’ll give it that. Value-wise, it’s there but may not be for everyone for $ 4.50 subs, that’s for the Special, loaded with all the meats, as per pic. Prefer a softer bread like the ones at Ba Le nearby & One Saigon in DT. A bit of kick. I detest cash-only places! Good seating, lounge-like on the left. appreciate the food handlers wearing gloves. repeat, sure, when I’m in the area.

Their viet subs are the best! You get a real bang for your buck. I got the lemongrass pork, amazing taste and it’s pretty much a foot long in size for 4 $. That’s pretty dam cheap.(Screw the 5 dollar footlongs at subway) Definitely my favorite place to get my view subs fix.

Delicious banh mi! The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. When you pull up it doesn’t look very inviting from the outside of the store, however inside is cute and smaller. Can’t beat the price either.

Delicious banh mi, that are huge! The bread is made in house. Soft, with a crispy crust. I tried the meatball today… and although it wasn’t the best in the city(in my opinion), it was solid. For $ 3.75, it’s a steal of a deal. Quick and friendly service too!

I really like this place. The parking is a lot better than most Banh mi shops that are nearby. This place offers a lot of variety of diff sandwiches and drinks. The service is good and pleasant to deal with.

Okay, so contrary to my picture caption of the number 3, don’t holla at the banh mi because it’s just not there yet. So we were in the area and decided to drop by for some crunchy sandwiches. My mother got the dacbiet and I got the chicken ga. I managed to eat some of both and I have to say that the crunch factor of the baguette is definitely on-point, but the filling is a different story. First off, I commend them for their mayonnaise — I’m not a fan of mayo, but for theirs I’ll make an exception, but maybe just lighten up on the sauce next time. The pickled veggies in the sandwich were quite mediocre, a tad too sweet in my opinion, not enough crunch and overall just not enough veggies in the sandwich. As for the quality of the meat, it really seemed to vary throughout the sandwich since there were pockets that were just amazing and then there was the odd spot here and there where it just didn’t taste all that fresh and a bit too fatty — remember, we’re talking about chicken here. Size-wise, it was pretty generous. So my mom got the dacbiet and she couldn’t finish it because apparently the filling tasted extremely off; I had a bite and I have to agree. But the other reviewers seem to think it’s pretty good, so maybe it was just an off day. Would I come back again? Yeah, probably, but I’d try their lemongrass grilled pork and desserts.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon– a little before early dinner time. There was no line-up but quickly filled up after I got my order. Yay for being one step ahead of the crowd! It’s a small sandwich shop specialized in making banh mi’s. Lots of varieties to choose from but not so much on the drinks. All prices are GST included which makes their banh mi pretty reasonably priced. I wanted to get their special but had no clue what was in it so I decided to get the lemongrass pork. The banh mi was super long but smaller in width compared other places. The filling was unevenly distributed in my opinion. My first two bites didn’t have anything at all and it was just eating dry toast. When I got to the middle, the lemongrass pork was delicious. Despite the baguettes being freshly made, I found it too crispy on the outside and not fluffy enough on the inside. This made me want more of the veggies to add a bit more moisture. The service here was not all that great. The lady at the cashier just shouted the price at me and that was as far as our conversation went. If you aren’t standing where they were making your order, you’d probably miss them calling out to you(which a couple of tables did), so stay close even though there may be a huge line-up for orders.

Their Banh Mi sandwiches are okay. The bun itself is long and skinny and felt soft from the first bite. I like my bun being crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It wasn’t crispy at all. I normally get chicken sub which cost $ 4 and it’s bit cheaper than Viet Sub in downtown. In my personal opinion it’s no different to ones from Ba Le, but tastes better than Tung Hing. I personally like Viet Sub in downtown for Banh Mi sandwiches. I find buns from Viet Sub bigger and tastes crunchy and flavourful. I could use some hoisin sauce or sriracha for more flavours. Good thing it wasn’t salty at least.

Oh my goodness! I just had the absolute worst experience here. I ordered a sandwich with extra veg and meat but got the same portion as the other day when I didn’t add on any extras. All I was asking was that perhaps the kitchen forgot to add it on and if they could do that. Instead the cashier grabbed my sandwich and threw my $ 6 at me(literally threw it at me) and told me they’d rather not sell me anything then. It totally sucks because they have some pretty great tasting sandwiches and I didn’t have a problem with the service previously! Buyer beware!

I’m obsessed with Banh Mi. Reasons to love Banh Mi Saigon: –buy 10, get 1 free(nice… they don’t do that in LA =P) –every sandwich between $ 3.75-$ 5 –compared to Ba Le, they’re like 1.4x the size. –and equally delicious to Ba Le. OK… so what do we have here: amazing value and amazing taste… what more do you WANT?! oh yeah. friendly service. This place has that. Kinda unheard of for azn places!

Love, love, love their #3 Chicken Ga! And a bag full of extra veggies is only a dollar! Every sandwich is under $ 5, some as low as $ 3.75! That’s a super filling meal for under $ 10! Mind blasting! The Iced Tamarind Juice($ 3.50) is waaaaay too sweet, but if you’re eating at home you can pour half of it into a cup and then add water. I like the peanuts. It’s like drinking Pad Thai xD I recommend ordering in advance over the phone, since there is usually a line up.

[Viet Subway] I’m not sure what it is but there’s something about viet subs that make it more awesome than your average sub. Combine that with a place that specializes in viet subs and my tastebuds are in heaven. I had a craving one Saturday morning and Banh Mi was nearby. No-brainer! Most vietnamese places in the neighborhood focus on Phở noodles with minimal sub options. Banh Mi does subs exclusively with a wide variety of veggies and freshly baked bread — you can even watch them make it. I was being indecisive so i went with the House special sub. As far as viet subs go, this one was delicious! Cold cut spam, carrots, cucumber, and cilantro. *drool* Im fairly certain they’ll customize it upon request. It was a hot summer day so it was only fitting to pair my sandwich with an iced condensed milk coffee. I wasn’t blown away by this. There was way too much condensed milk and I felt a cavity forming immediately. However, given it was 28 degrees C outside, it was refreshing nonetheless. Value cannot be beat. Where else do viet subs come in footlong sizes? With subs varying from $ 3.50 to $ 5, it’s a steal. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Decent Vietnamese subs. Size is bigger than other places but they are chintzy on the meat. Also they only give you a little piece of jalapeño which doesn’t cover the length of the sandwich. Had the special, cold cut combo, chicken and shredded pork sub. All are decent but could be more generous with the fillings. Friendly service. Bread is baked at location and it is crispy and tasty. You can also buy baguettes for $ 2. Good price for decent bread. Price includes tax. Cash only. Service is fast. Don’t have to wait forever like at BaLe. Will becoming here for my Vietnamese subs.

Yet another great new local place. Tried the meat ball and a veggie sandwich. Both were super fresh and tasty. Throw in a couple fruit drinks and we had the perfect lunch. Friendly staff, nice and clean shop. Our new favourite. Ok I can now rate my two favourite sandwiches, the meatball followed by the chicken. The only regular menu item I haven’t tried is the house special and now I’m wondering how that can be, will fix that by the end of the weekend. Make sure you try one of their blended juices, my top one is Mango/Strawberry and my wife’s is the Strawberry/Lemonade. Also the iced tamarind is pretty good too.

My new fave place for a giant Bahnmi sandwich. Get the special. Full of questionable vietnamese meats and lots of veggies! Been here over a dozen times now and the food can be inconsistent. The size of the baguette and the amount of fillings varies a LOT– but I’m never super disappointed, I just wish it was awesome every time instead of a hit or miss range of: pretty good to amazing. Get there when it’s early cuz even though they bake the bread fresh, end of day bread is a bit lacking. .50-.75 cents more than some of the cheaper places but also a lot larger than other bahnmi. Whatever crack they put in the meatball spread is working for me. Win.

Delicious! 5 stars for what it is supposed to be … A banh mi store. I popped in on a craving, had a minor heart attack when I realized that I might not have enough cash on me(it’s a cash only establishment) … But happily I had two toonies rolling around in my wallet. Perfect for one sub($ 3.75 inclusive of tax) So, I chose #5(cold cut), it was everything I could ask for! Pâté, viet ham, a fresh assortment of veggies all in a soft crispy baguette! And as an added bonus, the place was very open and clean and the staff were friendly. Seriously, what more can you ask for? If I had more cash, I would have complimented this perfect banh mi with a dessert drink! Incidentally, if you are a richmond night market foodie, you might recognize the lady behind the counter! They had a stall there selling the same delicious colourful dessert drinks as they had at the night market. And now it’s available year round !!! I couldn’t be happier because this was always a market favourite of mine!

Excited to try as there has been a lot of great reviews on social media. I’m so sad to be writing this review as I wish I could give them more stars. We arrived and right off the bat they were very dis organized, it was unclear where we were suppose to order our sandwiches and whom was doing. We ordered 4 sandwiches, a special; a meat ball; a veggie; and chicken. All but the veggie had not enough filling. The bread although made fresh was not crusty like I’m use to at tung hing. It was cold and chewy as if you were to buy the sandwiches and leave out for a few hours before eating. We tried the sugarcane juice and the tamarind drink both were okay, a bit heavy on the ice. We ate in and ended up packing 2 of the 4 sandwiches. To my surprise after popping the sandwiches in the oven at house it earned this place another star. Two days later my mom wanted to try it out without hearing out my review. Sadly, the same experience. But this time I requested for my bread to be toasted they refused and therefore it tasted the same. Would I return? Only if I had a craving of bread at 8am and no where was open or if I were planning on having it at home so I could toast it. I’m sure they are still ironing the wrinkles of any new business hopefully things will get better. Maybe in another 6 months I will return and give them another shot.

First and foremost, I LOVE Vietnamese Subs! They’re cheap, filling, and often very tasty! When I heard that Banh Mi Saigon opened up and were focusing exclusively on that, I was overjoyed to say the least. The family that runs the joint is very friendly and welcoming upon stepping inside and is more than willing to accomodate any modifications you’d like to your subs. For under $ 5, you can get a 1 – 1.5 foot long sub that’ll keep you full for the great duration of the afternoon. Afterwards, you could finish it off with an iced coffee, or perhaps one of their rainbow desserts! I think I’ve found a new favourite restaurant!

* New kid on the block with promise * A new addition to the highly competitive Vietnamese food market in this area of town, this new bánh mì spot also offers up Vietnamese desserts and drinks. During their grand opening(until May 2nd) they are offering 20% off everything but drinks. I ordered the bánh mì dacbiet($ 3.60 during opening special, $ 4.50 regularly) and it took a while for them to make it. Clearly as the new kid on the block they need to work out the system behind the counter. There were 3 sandwich makers and 1 cashier yet things were still backing up quite substantially with the meats all loaded by the efficient first maker and then piling up waiting for the last two to add the veggies and sauces. I’m sure the will figure it out as things settle in. The sandwich itself had a nice french bread baked off in house. The crust was crunchy and crumbly and the interior was slightly fluffy with a good chew. The fillings were of a very good quality and included Vietnamese ham, headcheese, meat ball, meat loaf, pâté, housemade mayo, and veggies. There was a distinct 5 spice flavouring, which I’m not sure which filling it was originating in but it gave a nice overall flavour profile. Photos: and They have a few tables so you can sit while enjoying it, instead of standing outside like at some other spots. They were not doing a great job clearing off the tables — but they were pretty slammed with long lines and the sandwich backlog. I imagine as things settle in this could become a favourite spot for me for my bánh mì fix. For now they are showing the signs of still figuring things out. I will be back when things settle in…
