History

Established in 1983.

1973, At an industry training event, three young autobody apprentices meet, become friends and share their dream of opening an autobody shop of their own: Mr. Tom Jung, Mr. Van Ming Giang, and Mr. Sunny Loh. For 8 years their friendship continues, continually meeting to have fun and share their frustrations about the state of the industry: corners cut, cash deals, poor craftsmanship, etc. With each passing week, their conversations about opening a new kind of shop begin to grow stronger. One year later, 255 East 7^th Avenue opens its doors for the first time. AutoMind’s founders realize their dream, but little did they know that bigger things were to come. After being rear-ended, I brought my truck to this location to have it fixed. It took two and a half weeks to have the bumper replaced. It still needed to be painted but I needed it for work so I took it back.
I brought it in again the following week to have the painting finished, and when I picked it up at the end of the day there was some weird crap on the hood of my car that looked like damage on the paint. It turned out to be tree sap and the employee Eric spent close to an hour getting it off for me which I thought was really nice of him.
I was really unhappy with the amount of time it took but Eric was really helpful and delivered a high level of service through the process. If it hadn’t taken so long, this review would have been five stars, easy. The problem was not with the employees but with the supplier who sent the replacement bumper out.

Getting my car fixed up after hit and run damage was the LAST thing I wanted to do. These guys were able to get my car in right away and had the repairs finished within a week. It looked awesome! Super professional. Would definitely recommend this shop.

I’ve had a few incidences where I’ve needed a bodyshop and each time I’ve used the Automind 10^th Ave E location. These guys are excellent at what they do, and their customer service is top-notch. They can also handle complications like after-market bodykits that other bodyshops sometimes will either mess up or not want to deal with. Jason Pang is great, ask for him.

Over the busy holiday I notice my rear bumper has been hit and run. My entire bumper was push up and needed to be fix. I got a referral from a close friend they had mention and I took my car to Automind right after ICBC. The customer service team immediately took the car in and arrange a suv rental for me to drive away. After few day I was told to pick up my car! I got to say I really enjoy this excellent customer service and great job on my bumper, back to almost new!

My wife accidently scraped the right rear of her car in our parking garage and I need a quick fix up. I looked into a couple of higher-end car body shops but in the end chose Automind for convenience and price. Service rep was great, professional, and gave me a good price. On drop-off he completely looked over the car and while in for the repair buffed out and touch-up numerous other scratches and scrapes and gave me a bottle of touch up paint. The main repair was blended proifessional and my car came back clean and looking phenomenally way better than when dropped off. Also repaired a rear back-up light as well. So location, price, quality of repair, and service all line up for 4 stars. I give my extra star (no. 5) for the ‘above and beyond — greater than expected’ factor. Recommended.

Took my car in for a simple driver side window replacement about a year ago. After the repairs and whenever the stereo was turned on I noticed a strange rattling noise. I took it back in to Automind, who then told me that it was just a loose screw and they had tightened it for me. I still noticed a rattling noise periodically, but never got around to bringing it back to Automind.
Last week, for an unrelated incident, another body shop had to open up the same door for repairs. When they did, they discovered that Automind had broken the fastener for the speaker when they replaced the window, and had then used DOUBLE SIDED TAPE to «repair» it!!!
If I could give them zero stars I would. Don’t trust these guys with your car or your money. You are better off taking your car to George’s Autobody where they are honest and will do everything they can to help you out — in my case they replaced my speaker and fixed the damage caused by Automind free of charge.

One of the drivers in my house scratched our new car against a concrete post. I refused to process this through my ICBC plan because it would affect my discount. We shopped around to 5 or 6 body shops. They quoted $ 1000 to $ 1500 for the sanding, filling and repaint. Automind did the job for $ 700 (tax included) and the work was excellent. They even washed the car and cleaned the interior. The quality of workmanship was good. The same driver recently rearranged the left front ¼ panel so we returned to Automind. Again I have no complaints with the work.

Went to this Automind location to get a quote for the damage of my car. I stood at the reception area for two minutes without any acknowledgement. Maybe I’m a girl, I don’t get as much visability in an autobody shop? Their quote is definitely higher than the other two autobody places I went to. The rep did inspect the damage in detail, and when I asked if a courtesy car is available. He said something along this line, «We don’t have courtesy vehicles for customers, we can help you get one through Enterprise-Rent-a-Car. Since I’m giving you a deal on the damage cost, I can’t give you a deal on the car rentals». Higher price tag and no courtesy vehicles. Hmm… I guess you can decide whether you want to go with this autobody shop or not. I choose Herbert’s Autobody in Richmond instead.
