Great French restaurant! I’m French so I know what I’m talking about ;) The food was delicious and our waiter was very friendly. Went there for dinner, will go back for sure!

NEGATIVE5STARS!!! NEGATIVE5STARS !!! NEGATIVE5STARS!!! First and last time here. Do yourself a favor and go to the French Cultural Center off Granville for bistro style french food. Never set foot in there again!!! I cannot say with how much disdain and anger I feel toward the rude and possibly racist waiter we had this afternoon. A french frog he is and if he were on the menu as a food item, it would be thrown out in the back alley dumpster or used as pig feed!!! He was nearly starving for another good tip at all costs, even if it meant to ignore 1 of 2 people at our table. The food was cheap and overly simple, very oily… not much food. Ambiance. If we were in the 1800’s and certain public humiliations were allowed, I would put this taller, balding, skinny(no hips) blondie french guy on trial for his life. I have never felt so humiliated and angry and made to feel so insignificant /invisibile as I experienced today in my whole life traveling the world including France. This waiter showed up to tell my friend«I miss you» and«where have you been?» and more flattering, flirting and discussions in private as if it was a private service to her and only her with a nearly full restaurant that I felt sick as we were guided to our seat. The entire time up to the last second, he spoke and flirted with her while ignoring me except to ask what I ate once. I basically did not get any service. I had to waive down another server to get a refill. I left them alone for 10 minutes busying myself in the washroom and when I returned it got worse Apparently in this case she gave a good tip to him the few times she dined there alone. I told him at the beginning(joke!!) that I was jealous that he was not flirting with me… that was a joke and a hint that he basically acted as if I did not exist. When I asked if he knew the chef’s name I got all sorts of facial tics and expressions like I was crazy. I explained one other time that I like to learn where the chef was educated and he came up with two first names, even though I asked for last names and he kept insisiting I meet them over and over. I explained I wanted the name for my personal research, that I did reviews, and that I wanted to learn whether the food was authentic french or not depending on where the chef was educated… the food did not seem like traditional french food esp. the fries which were more like thick greasy steak fries. I told him at the very end that he should never ignore or basically ask the other guest like me if I wanted anything to eat and to not interrupt conversations to flirt or talk. I wanted to maybe eat something else, or be asked if I wanted something else, maybe order anything, and perhaps be both talkedt to or asked if we wanted dessert… but nope, he wanted to only talk to her. He only talked to the lady across from me who was a stranger and ignored her friend. I guess if you eat well and get tipped well they spend every last second serving you, if not, they ignore you. PS: brunch does not mean lunch on Sundays. Lunch menu is not included. She ordered salad with poached eggs(1 egg not 2 she wanted) and duck confit(thin strips of duck) — oily dish and eggs were rawish/runny and he still brought her two eggs not one. The only spring vegetables were a few oil laden potatoes. The duck of the duck confit was missing nearly entirely. I think her dish was basically oil on frisee with 2 eggs and potatoes. Even the waffle breakfast is one small liege waffle whereas other places give you two. Looked simple, cheap and oily… barely there duck for $ 16.90. Most meals have frisee in some oily dressing(no tomatoe, cukes, veggie, nothing. Mostly fries and a little meat or eggs n tiny meat with more oil. The place looks french but chefs are caucasian not from france. The servers seem to have a french accent but i don’t know if they are french. or just fake and rude and disengenuine. If you order croque monsieur or madame — it comes not as a sandwich like all other places but on one slice of bread. Cheap and go hungry home! To be honest, his behavior and outward disrespect made me lose my appetite. I did not order anything. Worst ever in the history of being served food(or non-service). No basket of warm baguette and butter/honey like in Paris. Spend your money elsewhere. I got better service at Mcdonalds and a simple café than this place.

This place was very satisfying. Cozy and very French style. I had the salmon eggs Benedict with hash. The eggs benny itself was nothing to complain about, I wasn’t a huge fan of the potatoes though. The service was good and I’d come back again for it, but in the overall scheme of Vancouver brunch it doesn’t stand out

My friends and I decided to try the brunch here after our original plans fell through. Luckily, we didn’t have to line up and was able to get a table quickly. The restaurant definitely had a Parisian café feel to it. The server was quick paced and composed and at some points, I wasn’t sure if we were annoying him with our questions. Our friend is pregnant and we didn’t want to run into any dietary issues. We requested for my friend’s eggs to be well done and the server had no problem with this at all. However, when she received her dish, her eggs were still runny. We flagged the server down, and he quickly took her dish away and re-cooked her eggs. We really appreciated the efficiency and quickness. The food wasn’t anything overly special, but it was good. I wish I read better French, since I can see on Unilocal now that there were some other more interesting brunch dishes I would have definitely had preferred to try. This restaurant wasn’t on my radar before, but I think it will be on my radar now. It’ll be interesting to see if the dinner menu and the dessert menu will be as good as some of the other French restaurants I have tried in Vancouver.

One of the best burgers in town. The foie gras addition to the burger was a nice touch. Flavour was perfect and bun hugged the burger patty quit nicely. Very quaint restaurant with great service.

Sometimes the only recourse to bad service is a bad review. Its unfortunate since the atmosphere, the coffee and a number of other features are quite lovely. But we are not in Paris we are in Vancouver and when a client asks if the eggs can be cooked well and the response is NO… just NO… well that is truly not reasonable customer service. If you like the whites of your eggs slimey and under cooked this place may work for you. I like my whites dry and their refusal to accommodate that rules them out as a great brunch place. i left hungry and disappointed.

I really like this spot. Stopped by here for the cheese plate and a glass of wine. It was wonderful. The cheese selection was varied & tasted great. Also, it cane with a basket of bread which was just enough for the cheese. I also grabbed a lemon tart to go and ate it later. It was delicious, lemony with a well-textured crust and topped with a beautiful meringue candy. The service here was also excellent. I will definitely return more than once.

This is one of our go to restaurants when the wife has yoga nearby or when we’re just hanging out in beautiful Kitsilano. The food and décor here is authentically French. Thankfully the service is not. Instead of rudeness, you’re greeted with a smile. Let’s start off with the coffee, it is fantastic here. Café crème is delicious and is served with a small piece of brown butter cake. Once I was lucky enough to get a piece of cake when it was still warm, it was heavenly. The food here is always consistent. It’s nothing fancy or crazy creative, just well executed casual French bistro food. You can come here today, tomorrow, next week, and they will serve it to the the same quality each and every time. The menu changes from time to time which keeps it interesting. They don’t take reservations, but l’ve always been lucky enough to get a table with a short or no wait. Oh… I almost forgot. Always leave room for dessert. It’s quite delicious ;)

One of the best French restaurants in town! The waffle is amazing, and the steak is just… MARVELLOUS! And don’t get me started on the lava cake. IT’S TOOGOODTOBETRUE…

Overall: 3.75 stars. The place has an European feel to it(mix of old and new). Food was good and a good place to practice your french. Only down side was a bit pricy for brunch. Food: Cappuccino: good coffee and served with a small simple cake that added a nice sweetness to the coffee especially if you take it without adding any sugar to it. Charcuterie: $ 18 Had a nice variety of meats and non of it was too salty. The duck and tongue were delicious and thinly sliced. Side of pickles and pickled onions. Mustard to taste. Bread was soft, could have had the whole loaf. CONFITDETHONSURBRIOCHE: $ 16 Eggs were nicely done. Even with the hollandaise sauce(not too heavy). The preserved tuna was not fishy at all and had an olive oil taste to it. SERVICE: all the servers spoke french. They had a french Café/bistro attire. The food didn’t take too long to arrive. Servers are friendly. The only thing, was after you got your entrees they didn’t really check in to see how the food was or if we needed anything else. AMBIENCE: kinda brings you back to a french Café: bistro. Ample sunlight coming in and nice amount of greenery to be seen behind the bar. So if you miss Paris or speaking French this is the place to go. PARKING: street meter parking and some free spots are available GENERAL: well prepared(simple) and balanced tastes. Nice place to go for brunch date or with some friends. Will definitely go back to try the dinner menu. The desserts look yummy too.

Some of the best food on W4th, reasonably priced for what you get! Nice ambiance and excellent service by our main man Raphael. So good after dinner we came back the next day for brunch! I’d highly recommend the salmon terrine, as well as the bavette steak. Duck wings for brunch and they also do excellent poached eggs! Can get noisy at night, but during the day it was nice a quaint.

A little taste of Paris on West 4th. This was our pre-movie lunch/brunch spot for the day. Ordered a croque monsieur(ham and Gruyère cheese on toasted bread) and mom ordered an omelet with herbs. Both got coffee and tea to drink. Food arrived promptly and hot. My croque monsieur was the perfect size for me. Mom enjoyed her omelet. Pricing was decent. I would likely return; ever since visiting Paris in 2014, I’ve been having withdrawals! So I suppose this place lets me recreate that experience.

Great great food, cozy restaurant and nice staff. I tried a delicious very well done salmon with eggs Benedict; and steak with fries and salad. The steak was very juicy and the gorgonzola sauce on it was perfect. As dessert, I had a dark chocolate mousse which was a good choice too. There were two small things that I didn’t like that much but it wasn’t enough for me to remove one star: First, the hostess wasn’t very organized. We got there before 2 groups of people and we were the last ones to sit and we sit at the bar. First of all, the hostess asked us if we could sit at the bar to put the group behind us on the table, we said at first we wanted the table but, in order to not give her too much trouble due to the number of people, we said if there was any problem, we could sit at the bar. She put us at the bar and actually 2 groups behind us at the 2 tables. What made me upset was that I didn’t get why our first request wasn’t priority since the two groups had same number of people as us. The second thing is that the waiters talk very laud between each other. The place is already quite loud and it makes the environment a bit annoying. Except those 2 small things, this is a great restaurant.

A great place for French cuisine in Kitsilano! Had the sweet breads and steak. Sweet breads were well paired with the poached egg but the steak took the cake! It came with a nice blue cheese based gravy, perfectly done fries and a side salad. Could have done without the cheese place/charcuterie appetizer in hindsight(although we were really hungry when we arrived)

If you miss Montréal, Paris or crave something un petit peu francais, then this is the place to come to. The waiters don’t specifically speak french, but you will find one or two who do. Most of them are probably in the back. The whole seating arrangement is pretty cramped like in any real restaurant in Paris, so you get to have the culture shock and feel of France. I started with dessert. Yes, I know. I had a tiramisu. It was so delicious.(What? They said the entrée would be ready in 20 min and I was starving. Dessert sounds good. Whomever said we can’t start w that?) It was a creamy heaven w hints of chocolate and coffee. I loved it. We had the duck breast which I highly recommend and would come back for, and the fish– which was a bit dry unfortunately. Also finished with another dessert– the lemon meringue– v fluffy and yummy as well. I prefer the tiramisu. I liked the service and the ambience. Great place to come to for celebrations.

I’ve always liked this place for my Parisian fix, their daily croques and flank steak with roquefort sauce are staple lunch items. But 5 stars for their medium rare burger, with soft bun, onion raclette and seared foie which is a steal for an extra $ 6. Yum! I enjoyed their recent coconut and strawberry mousse tart dessert. Light and refreshing.

Dinner time — Delicious Delicious Delicious IT is the real deal. Party of 3(2 local Vancouverites and 1 Parisien lady — who’s a foodie) Went here for dinner and we ordered everything on the menu plus 2 bottles of wine. The french friend ordered everything for us. I mean, she helped us a lot and by the sounds of it, we received extra helping of food. Our 2 servers were attentive and spoke to us in french, it was a blast. One of my best meals for sure. I don’t find them snooty whatsoever. At the end of the evening, I asked our server if I could possibly thank the chef, well, I did and gave him a nice peck on his cheek. Come here for dinner and try out the amazing French dinner cuisine.

Au Comptior in Kitsilano seems to be all the craze lately. Brunch avec Paree style is a must. Choose to start with a café au lait and a pain au chocolate to slowly start your day like there’s nothing on the agenda. Whether Au Comptior is the ‘real deal’ of an authentic Parisian café is debatable. Depending the time of day you may find the garçon de café to be either warm, friendly and attentive or borderline rude when you ask for hot sauce and you hear ‘this is a French restaurant, we don’t have hot sauce’. The interior is Instagram worthy with the deepest blue leather seats, long bar seats, distressed tiles and a rotating glass display nudging you with exquisite desserts. But little round tables are crowded and slightly uncomfortable especially when you have a party of four trying to share plates. But let’s talk food. Le Brunch in particular. Food here is well portioned and rich. «How do French women stay skinny?» comes to mind. I remember reading, if you are thinking of order dessert after a full meal with wine. Your dessert should just be your glass of wine. Anyways, we ordered and shared the following. MANCHONSDECANARDFRITS10: half-dozen crispy fried duck wings. Lightly breaded duck confit wings are tender and fall off the bones. ASSIETTEDECHARCUTERIE18: house and artisan cured meats and pâté served with bread and gerkhins ASSIETTEDEFROMAGES7: three cheeses with a variety of creamy blue, brie and a sharp cheddar aged from France. one cheese — three cheeses CONFITDECANARDENSALADEETSONOEUFPOCHÉ16: Shredded duck confit, potato, asparagus, frisée, poached eggs, hazelnut vinaigrette. BURGERMAISONFRITES16: house ground beef, onion jam, raclette. We were asked with we wanted to add foie gras for $ 6. We weren’t sure where the foie was added. Perhaps mixed in the patty or spread a top. Nonetheless, the burger had a juicy patty and pretty tasty. ASSIETTEAUCOMPTOIR16: eggs cocotte, house-made sausage, bacon, country bread, potato rösti. This was perhaps our least favorite dish of the afternoon. There was nothing special to the eggs or the salty sausage. I’m excited that Au Comptoir now opened in the Kitsilano neighbourhood. West 4th isn’t saturated with French bistros and after a heavy brunch you can go shopping and walk it off. Au Comptoir is opened by Maxime Bettili and Julien Aubin. The two had previoused cafes and brasseries in France. In Vancouver they had worked at some Vancouver favorite restaurants like Les Faux Bourgeois, Bistro Pastis, Jules Bistro, and The Acorn.

On our food tour of Vancouver, we found ourselves in Kitsilano looking for a quick bite. We are so happy we found this small French restaurant, and even happier that we beat the Saturday dinner rush. Seated at the bar, we could see the bartenders work their magic as well as watch the food come out of the kitchen. I loved it! The special appetizer of the day was a salmon tartare with capers and shaved asparagus, which was one of the best tartares I’ve had. They have limited supply of the specials, so I’m glad we snatched the second last one! We also shared the shallot tart, which was like a French onion soup in tart form. Amazing. Great salad on the side too. Only had two appetizers, but wish I could have tried everything! Hope to be back someday to try out some more food. Bonus: everyone speaks French here. Legit.

Upon my last dinner here I found myself focusing on the food and now would like to update my previous review to say that I was wrong when I said the prices were a bit too high. The food is worth the price and the food is the star! I had the Roasted Halibut and the Gnocchi. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and it was easy to see/taste that the chef has put a lot of love, quality and craft on the plates… consistently. We also had a lovely take on a Caesar Salad and a fabulous Duck Liver Mousse. It was incredible!!! Must try! I look forward to my next visit! having said that it wouldn’t hurt to offer a drink special or happy glass of wine, or perhaps maybe I should drink less? No, I think not. :)
