Aperture Coffee Bar

I went to Fat Burger for quick bite and saw Aperture right beside it. I checked the reviews while I’m waiting for my burger.
I didn’t order a drink with my burger coz I know the coffee would be better choice at next door.
They serve Intelligentsia coffee, their coffees are very high quality. The latest drip technology available to make the exquisite coffee of my choice, I definitely fall in love with it.

Nice but lacking in space a bit.
As a New Zealand expat I am continually on the hunt for a good Flat White. This place did not disappoint (though I have yet to get used to the Vancouver twist of using a glass).

Great classic Cappuccinos. Nice atmosphere. Cozy spot to catch up with a friend or a book. Feel like there are definitely regulars that frequent this spot– must check out their photo dart wall while you’re here!

A rustic, cozy, and intelligent (must be all the books and the name) space that serves pretty damn good coffee. I enjoy a good cup of joe once in a while that’s not dispensed by an automated machine, and Aperture takes the notion of coffee connoisseur to a new level.
Whenever I go to a new place, I ask for their best item on the menu. For some reason I got a latte. It was good, but nothing memorable. So the next time i visited, I decided to give their pour over with their house blend a try. I later told the barista that had I known it was so labour intensive I would’ve ordered something else. The bean is ground per order, and they will patiently stand over the pour over station for a few minutes, just to pour the perfect amount of hot water ever 5 – 10 seconds. The result was a nutty and citrusy mild flavour that would go well with anything you throw at it. BTW, if you were to throw something at it, i would suggest the salted caramel sable. A sip of the coffee, then a small bite of the cookie is no less than breakfast bliss.
They also have a bunch of coffee making apparatus for sale. Some of them utterly fascinating, like a bottle designed to make cold brew. I would have no idea how to operate it, but GOD i wanted that ’cause i’m the biggest sucker for cold brew.

Very beautiful space with a lot of nice books to read. It has super good coffee and food and its a nice atmosphere. Staff are okay, but not particularly friendly.

I came here once to catch up with a friend, and had a lovely time.
The atmosphere is laid back and cozy, it didn’t have the same hectic bustle as a Starbucks or some of the other coffee shops near where I live. I love the rustic furniture, herringbone floor, and exposed brick column near the coffee bar.
My friend and I settled into the cozy nook by the window and had the nicest time. There are some big tables if you want to bring your homework and get your study on, and a big bookshelf full of exciting titles if you decide to stay longer than you planned or are stuck waiting for someone.
An added bonus for me was that they have almond milk! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Aperture Coffee Bar Vancouver is a charming coffee shop on Broadway away from all the craziness. Serving Intelligentsia Coffee, the espresso was delicious and rich. I feel guilty for disclosing where I like to unwind, get some work done and just sit down to read a book. If you have forgotten to bring your book, they have plenty of James Patterson, JD Salinger and Stephen King to go around.
This neighborhood café is perfect for a rainy day. To grab a cup of Americano or chai latte and sit by the window people watching.
Chai Latte: Perhaps not the best chai latte in Vancouver. This cup was weak and not as flavorful as Bump n Grind Café on South Granville or Commercial Drive.
There is free WiFi and the barista is friendly. Aperture Coffee Bar is a total gem. Prices are perhaps a little pricey.

Amazing little artsy café on Broadway two blocks away from the train station. On top of designing this modern cozy space, the owner is also a photographer and painter (hence the name Aperture! =D). Absolutely loved spending my time reading in here while sitting by the large open window that slides up to the ceiling. Super friendly barista~ Their iced matcha latte is very authentic. Hands down, this is my new favorite café!

Total gem. Quirky interior. Cozy space. Great coffee. Free internet. Beautiful patrons. Lots of cyclists. My Saturday morning mainstay.

Just discovered this cool little coffee shop from a little stroll after lunch.
The interior deco is nice and welcoming. Bright and spacious.
The owner or staff wasn’t too too conversational as I tried to converse with him.
They had a variety of loose leaf teas and fresh brewed ice tea and even fermented tea — however they were sold out today so I couldn’t try.
Ended up going for a rooibos tea with steamed almond milk and their gluten free peanut butter banana chocolate chip cookie!
Tea was mediocre. I forgot to ask for a bit of a vanilla syrup and the tea didn’t taste superb but the cookie was delicious.
Will come back and try their sandwiches — which are all made in house and from the display they looked pretty good.

Great space, excellent service and a good product. The barista told me they’re one of only two places in town with a manual espresso machine, which was on my list of things to try.
The espresso was good, but the discussion about coffee afterwards made it even better. They used to have an ornate cold brew stack that isn’t around any more, which was the real reason I came by.
I still felt very well taken care of though, and my time there was very well spent.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and I was greeted warmly as I walked in. I ordered the cappuccino but they offer different varieties of drinks, sandwiches and pastries. They also have bake goods that are half off because they are one day old. Not bad of a deal considering how it really doesn’t make much of a difference when it comes to taste.
The waiting for the coffee didn’t take long which I appreciate. The place was semi packed with students and their laptops but next time I will grab a book off the shelf and make myself comfortable.
The price of my 8 oz cappuccino was a couple cents more compared to Revolver, Timbertrain etc but it was okay. the taste wasn’t too acidic or milky, just the perfect balance.
In the bathroom, they encourage people to bring photos that represent themselves or have an importance. I think that is a clever way to make the shop have more of a home-​y feeling.

Great café with treats and sandwiches.
I originally wanted a cortado but he didn’t know what that was??! So I ordered an americano misto instead. Found the coffee weak.

They close early (6pm) but it’s fair enough.
I bet they are super busy during the morning
and also during lunch time.

A coffee shop perfect for book lovers. Nice cappuccinos, friendly service, comfortable space, it is everything that you want in a local coffee shop. Now, add books to that and things get even better. Yes, you can pick up a used book while you wait for your drink!
While there is wifi in the shop, I recommended going old school; grab a good old fashioned book and find a cozy spot to read.

This is a cute little place. Love the range of seating options and books on the wall. It’s a very central location for an independent coffee shop. Had a vanilla latte and it was very nice. Great place to stop by for a coffee, especially if you are looking to avoid starbucks.

Haven’t had a bad experience yet. Have only tried the coffee (just right, perfect amount of bitterness and sweetness).
Service is good, cup sizes (for here) are big, price is a little expensive in my humble opinion, but hey, I prefer to go here than starbucks (prices are similar).
Open early morning and till 6pm…

It’s just plain nice!
I’ve been coming here for almost a year and a half now and I wouldn’t change a thing!

I like this place… small but ample seating. Unfortunately the ample seating is taken up by wifi-​moochers on their laptop that take up the entire communal table. I’m all for communal tables, but at a coffee shop it doesn’t work as well.
Wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a few more personal tables for the people who come here with friends to actually chat and drink coffee! Maybe replace one of the larger tables for 3 small ones… unless of course your business model relies on people who buy one measly cup of jo and takes up space for 3 hours.
Otherwise, I like the second hand books wall and general easy hand on the décor. It’s not trying to be too much which I respect.
But the service… oof. Very lacking given there was almost no one there. I ordered an americano and instead of completing the one order in hand, dude placed the paper for the other server to complete and went back to whatever important blog or comments he was reading on his laptop in the back. I wait. And waited. Then finally thought maybe it was waiting for me in the back.
Nope.
They had forgotten to complete the ONE order they had in hand. Totes lame.
Coffee was fine and i would likely come back just because the location across the street from MEC is ideal… but i’m hoping service would improve.

@aperturecoffee lives up to it’s reputation with quality goods, great customer service + an inviting interior including a variety of seating, lots of bright light & an open front for fresh air. Plus, as our coffee buddy pointed out in glee, BOOKS! Personally, I was impressed that they serve Intelligentsia Coffee and it was not bitter at all. Their machine must be calibrated just right, because my more recent experience with Intelligentsia has not been as pleasant.
