I have recently become a member of the Alliance for Arts and thus far I am fairly pleased what it offers the independent artist/​organization in Vancouver.
To name a few: healthcare packages, legal advise, workshops on grant writing etc., boardroom use, access to other artists/​arts organizations…
Membership was just over $ 100 (I think it’s yearly) and so far it’s been worth it.
One note, I think they’ve suffered some cut backs due to arts cuts so staff are not always right at hand to answer questions. Going in to the facility on Howe is probably your best bet if you have a pressing question.

Alliance for Arts and Culture is a not-​for-​profit society comprised of more than 300 arts groups, individuals and organizations. It’s difficult to summarize what they do without getting too long-​winded and verbose. Essentially, they offer assistance to those working in the arts and culture industry, whether it be by providing legal counsel, participating in boards and committees or by hosting an online job board and announcing artist calls.
Throughout the year, they often host a number of workshops and events aimed to inform and develop professional skills.
