Although not my neighborhood Sobeys, I am often up in this part of town and so at times its the most convenient location for me to shop at in a pinch. Since I am so used to shopping at the bigger Sobeys in the Bedford area, I usually walk into this Sobeys subconsciously assuming I’d have a similar experience here to what I’m used to. This is not the case, though, because while it has a similar look and feel to any other Sobeys, it is significantly smaller than most and often lacking in the departments that I do most of my shopping in(ie organic natural foods and fresh produce). One gets the feeling that when the Sobeys trucks roll into town, they deliver first to the bigger stores closer to metro and then make their way up the peninsula getting more and more depleted of quality goods as they deliver from store to store, before eventually arriving at their last stop(which this one appears to be), and so Sobeys Tantallon gets all the left over dregs that are left. I’m not saying that this is actually how it works, but more to illustrate how I feel about the selection of goods they usually have. The staff are invariably friendly, and the store moderately clean. I will still stop at this store when in the area and in a time crunch, but for my complete grocery needs, I would likely stick to the bigger stores.

Sobey’s Tantallon, I love you because you are so close to my home, yet sometimes you just don’t cut it. As a grocery supplier you’ve got what I need, most of the time. Your selection of fresh fruit and veggies does leave something to desire. not to mention sometimes you don’t have any good veggies left on the tables, whether they are bruised, moldy, or just not to my expectations. Your meat department, is actually quite nice, very good selection, great red meats. The staff has never let me down with knowing where things are or just being wonderfully friendly. Sometimes your pricing doesn’t match what is in your flyer, which can get pretty annoying.
