History

Established in 2011.

Ellen is the business owner, mother, wife, …and book lover!

I grew up in Chicago and moved here in 1998 with my husband Gregg. He’s from Chester Basin. Otis and Clementine were the working titles of our children before they were born. My husband wanted to name our kids Otis and Clementine, but as that didn’t happen we decided to use those names for our next biggest passion… this bookstore.

We’re a local family, and our children were born and raised in Stillwater Lake. I’d like to continue to build a sense of local community in the Bay by hosting and supporting other groups of all kinds. If you need a space for a meeting or special event, please contact me, I would be happy to help. I am a member of the Junior League of Halifax, the St. Margaret’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, and the St. Margaret’s Bay Gardening Club. Before opening the bookstore, I worked for Adsum for Women and Children in downtown Halifax as the fundraiser.

Come see us! We’re open 7 days a week.
