Wow Wow Nails

I’m from Mississauga so its a bit of a journey for me but after a co-​worker recommended this place and a quick glance through their Instagram feed, I decided to check it out.
The verdict? I think I found my new go to nail salon! Everyone is very nice and pleasant and the woman who did my pedicure was very attentive. They do very chic, modern nails here and they’re very detail oriented. The owner, Nina was also very pleasant on the phone. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a unique, funky yet sophisticated nail design and relaxing pedicure!

This is a great find that I discovered. My shellac has kept for two weeks (complete with glitter design and french manicure on some of the nails). I have never had such meticulate undivided attention to my nails and usually my shellac chips within the week. The appointment went longer than I expected (~2 hours) however the results are amazing and this place has a great price point. I do not look for spa atmosphere, but look for quality when I mark my reviews. I will most definitely be going back here! Check them out on instagram as I was unprepared for the selection of ‘nail art’ that they’re capable of!

I happened upon Wow Wow Nails one afternoon last year and could not be happier I did. I’ve been coming to see Nina [the owner] and her talented girls every two weeks to get my manicures done, for the past year. They specialize in shellac/​gel polish, and nail art. I am now religiously addicted to their services and look forward to a different and fresh manicure every two weeks. Obviously I’m a big fan, and I recommend all my girlfriends, colleagues, and clients to go see the girls at Wow Wow Nails asap. What I would suggest is booking your appointment a few days ahead of time, (since they’re usually booked/​busy with other loyal clients), but getting in touch has always been seamless via phone or email. I absolutely love this place and would recommend anyone to pass by!!!

I was really looking forward to going to Wow Wow because of the great reviews I heard. Nina did my nails and she was really nice, but clearly she does not know good customer service — she left me about 10 times during my manicure to answer the phone or take care of other things around the salon without so much as an «excuse me» or «sorry». I did my gel manicure there on Friday and three days later it is already coming off and my nail is already showing through the polish. Can’t say that I will be going back!

Nina –the owner really cares about your nails and their well-​being, gives friendly honest care advice. This is not a chic salon in anyway, what you get at Wow Wow Nails is undivided attention to your feet and hands. The selection of polish is outstanding and if it’s nail art your after they are pro’s. I had a pedicure with regular polish and a Shellac polish manicure and can say it’s the best I’ve ever had.
If the aesthetics of your nail joint is important you might want to pass, if you enjoy reruns of popular shows while having your feet rubbed and made pretty go for it.

If you are looking for a proper nail salon, this is not the place to go. I went in a couple of weeks ago with a friend, our usual place was closed and i needed a repair. They had a shellack promo on with konad designs included so we figured why not.
I tried to make an appointment for 1, but was told to come ASAP because they had a booking for 2pm and there was only one person in the shop. We arrived at 12:30 and both of us were not out until 2:45. I have never had shellack take more than 30 minutes, 45 at the absolute longest!
The coats were uneven, and I brought it to the girls attention, but she never fixed it. There were other issues with filing and removal of my old polish. She was very nice, but timid and the service was slow and not professionally done.
My suggestion, get your colour done elsewhere and book in only if you want the funky nail designs added after.

My friends and I make trips to Toronto from Sudbury every once in a while for shopping. We decided to make a detour down Dundas, since we’d never been down there. We almost passed this place by, but I noticed that they had Konad stampers, and I had read about them a few days prior and wanted to check it out. We went inside and looked around at the products. The woman working there (Nina) was with a client, but said if we were okay with waiting a moment, she would do a demo for us. She was able to show us quickly during a short break where her customer’s nails we drying, then went back to work with her. She answered all our questions, and after her first customer left (we were engrossed by this wall), she came over and showed us what we could do with this system. She stamped all our nails with different designs to show us how it worked, and answered all our questions. There was a template my friend wanted that they were sold out of, but Nina offered to ship it to her for free since we were going back to Sudbury the next day. She offered to do our nails for free, but she had an appointment coming up, and we had a lot of places to go to. She then said that if we sent her an email next time we went to Toronto, she would do our nails for free. She sincerely loves her business, and is very knowledgeable about nail products. This was a really great find, and we will definitely be returning when we go back to Toronto. She even had a bottle of the discontinued «Don’t mess with O.P.I.» polish that my friend had been looking for, and she said that they often have discontinued colours since they hand pick their polishes instead of buying the general collections and colours offered by the polish companies.

ATTENTION TO ALL THOSE NAIL FANATICS (like me) OUT THERE:
This place is not your average nail salon, because it’s more creative!
When they announced their downtown store, I was excited!
It’s more of a retail store for nail art, but the owners do nail service by appointment only. They have the whole collection of Konad nail design (plates, starter kits, etc.), which I find uncommon to find in Toronto. There’s so many nice designs to choose from that it’s impossible to only choose one. This is not those common air brushed designs that you can find in your local nail salon; this is a stamping art! In my opinion, it’s easier and more efficient. At first, it may seen difficult, but it requires practice. After a few trials, it would be easy!
ALSO, they carry a good range of nail polishes as well and the way they display it is neatly placed in a straight horizontal line for easy viewing of the colours. But, don’t expect to walk in to see the whole stand of OPI colour ranges. It is really limited, but you can always request to order a certain nail colour that you are interested, which is so nice for them to do! OPI and China Glaze are pretty cliché for a beauty salon to carry, but they carry the amazing and uncommon Nubar brand. First place in Toronto I have ever seen that holds this brand (I always read great reviews of this brand on beauty blogs and now I can finally get my own hands on them!)
They are usually really friendly and loves to do demonstration of the nail design on your nails. All you have to do is just ask! they’re alway willing to satisfy their customers!
The last time I visited, they informed me that they now do Shellac! I have never tried this yet, but I’m interested in the near future.
I highly recommend giving this place a visit!

Good spot to buy KONAD nail stamping kits and individual plates. There is lots of selection in the kits and they also carry some nail polishes (Konad, China Glaze, OPI), and I noticed they have the industrial sized bottle of Seche Restore (for Seche Vite top coat).
There is a lovely photo book on the counter for you to flip through and check out what designs you like, and if you like they can do a little nail demo for you. Basically you blob a high-​pigment nail polish onto the plate, scrape it with the metal scraper, then pick up the design with a special rubber stamping tool and transfer the design onto your own nail. You have to work fast, and placing the stamp «just right» can be tricky, but if you make a mistake you can remove it with nail polish remover and start again. You can make a simple french manicure look really cool with lace trim, ribbon bows, etc. It’s a bit time consuming, but you can get designs that are impossibly intricate for a nail salon to hand-​draw for you.
Costs $ 12 (cash = no tax) for a stamping plate, which is about what I’ve paid for them ordering them online after shipping costs, etc. I like being able to look and browse in person here.
FYI — not every nail polish is suitable for stamping. I tried using my OPI Black Onyx and it was an utter failure. Luckily I had a mini bottle of black Konad polish from a kit.
There’s always lots of free parking in the lot, and you can just walk across to Pacific Mall & Market Village.
