Wen-DO Women’s Self Defence

The course is structured over 2 Sundays, for a total of 15 hours (pretty much a full work day). The instructor is another woman who has over 20+ yrs of teaching experience. But don’t be fooled, she is energetic and strong and keeps updated with real life examples and the legal implications of defending yourself.
Personally, I think this course is important and every woman should take it. Therefore, I will not go into an in-​depth description of everything I learned. But, I learned how to release myself not just from 1 attacker, but 2 or more. I learned how to counter-​attack. I learned about verbal self-​defense. And I got schooled about sexual assault and what constitutes consent and other organizations that can help. And I learned to put this strength to physical use.
This is a course where you gain value from what you learn about yourself. I feel strong. I feel proud. I feel happy, competent and confident. The skills I learned yesterday, in theory, will help me to not panic and shut down in a dangerous situation, if I am attacked, because I know I have the options to get myself to safety. Before, I didn;t think I had a choice. Shutting down was easy. Being intimidated was a way of life.
I am competent — I can take care of myself, both my physical and emotional needs. This course is highly recommended.
