History
Established in 2014.
Peter Welker founded a small insolvency practice in 1999. His son, Steven worked in that practice while obtaining his degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. After spending a number of years becoming a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Steven returned to the field of insolvency after relocating to Toronto and joined BDO Canada Limited as an Assistant Vice-President.
After collaborating on both large and small engagements for a number of years and being recognized for the highest achievement in Canada on the National Insolvency Exam in 2012, Steven left BDO to found Welker and Company Inc. which now provides debt management advice to consumers from its six locations spread throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Meet the Business Owner
Steven W.
Business Owner
He’s a fisherman, home renovator, and knows his way around a kitchen. He’s also one of three Trustees in his family that has been successfully helping people with their debt problems for over a decade. Steve understands that life throws curveballs and is a strong believer in the process that provides Canadians with fresh starts. He knows the relief that an initial consultation can provide and he enjoys empowering his clients to overcome their financial difficulties.
Sure he’s a chartered accountant, and received the gold medal for the highest mark on the National Insolvency Exam, but he doesn’t like to remind anyone of those facts… except his brother.
Community is important to Steve. That’s why PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP recognized him as their South Western Ontario Volunteer of the year for his work on a local board of directors. He’s also been a big brother for over a decade and prepared tax returns for free through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
