WAXON Waxbar

This is on behalf of my partner. She went for a Braziliant and said was the quickest she’s ever had. She requested hard wax on their site prior, since she was used to it and afraid anything else would hurt, but Nicole did a real fast and thorough job, not leaving anything on there and without any pain. My partner is a real picky customer, knowing from other times, she’s European where they do this kind of thing a lot more inexpensively and the women do it more often. She was thoroughly satisfied and would definitely repeat this location.

I always went to WAXON and had the best experience you could have getting a Brazilian. My waxer had left the salon and they told me when I had shown up for my appointment… I was out with someone else (forget her name) and she did an awful job. Missed a bunch of spots, was in a rush, didn’t even finish everything that was supposed to be done. I was so frustrated I just didn’t care and left. I will not be returning after that.

This is a waxing salon yes? All they do is wax? I had an early appointment and I showed up 5 min early and they notified me they were running late because the wax was hard. At first I didn’t mind and then when they said after 10 min it would be another 10 — I left

Went here for my first Brazilian and booked it with Angie thanks to her amazing reviews from fellow Unilocalers. Everyone was very friendly and Angie talked to me through the whole appointment which was nice to get my mind off the pain.
Halfway through the wax her phone rings and she excuses herself and picks it up stating that it might be her kids calling. I had no problem with that and i waited for a couple minutes till she finished talking to her friend on the phone… Its really not that big of a deal but instead of continuing the conversation with her friend she could of told them right away that she’s with a client.
Ive been to other waxing places after WaxOn because I’ve found its too expensive (50+) and their pushy attitude towards bying their products is a bit of a turn off. I might visit back if i have to money to blow it on a good wax.
All in all, the waxing was very good and not as a painful as the ones i had after. i recommend the place for ladies or men that want a good quality wax but with a hefty price tag.

After reading up on Brazilian waxes and daring myself to try new things in 2015, I held my breath as I made an appointment for one at WAXON. Online booking is a breeze!
My helpful Unilocalers raved about Angie’s impeccable work and friendly demeanour — so I booked my first appointment with her.
Angie did not disappoint. Pleasant, great sense of humour, knowledgeable. She chatted throughout the session which made things more bearable.
As for pain — I can tolerate a lot of pain (try ZOOM Whitening, then get back to me — Brazilians are NOTHING in comparison to ZOOM Zingers!). For my first Brazilian — sans painkillers, at that — Angie said I handled it like a pro.
The hard wax is warm and soothing. WAXON technicians never double dip. The place is spotless and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
TIP: exfoliate before your appointment. That always helps.
For those complaining about disrobing in front of your technician — what’s the big deal? If you’re exposing your Hello Kitty, why act shy when taking your clothes off? We’re all adults here. I’m fairly conservative and this didn’t bother me in the slightest.
Thanks to Angie and the amazing WAXON team. They’re now the ONLY spot I’ll visit for waxing services.

I wish I could post a photo. The first time I went for an eyebrow wax, one eyebrow was significantly thicker than the other. I was upset so they gave me a complimentary redo. Their second wax burned my eye skin off. I have a scar for the rest of my life under my eyebrow. I emailed them a photo of my bloody eyebrow and they ignored me. I was polite and asked for a refund.
Don’t go here.

This place is the worst! The strip-​less wax they use cracks off the hairs and it has grown back in a week! The hair growing back is also super painful and it feels like there are hundreds of slivers beneath your skin. I have been getting waxed for years and have never had such bad/​painful results.

I saw Angie (who is amazing!) and she did a fabulous job! I am hesitant to rate this place a 5 because I agree with other reviews on here — they push you to buy product (which I was stupid and did) and while I was being waxed Angie came and told me how sick she was! Um I don’t want you waxing me while you are sick as a dog! I bought this serum which she said was amazing and I won’t get any ingrown hairs. I did exactly as she recommended and the second day I had two ingrown hairs. The third day another ingrown appeared. I would go back because Angie was amazing and there is no double dipping (which is huge!) but I wouldn’t buy any product they try to sell me again.

This one hurts…
I really want to like WAXON Waxbar! I’ve been here three times and the last two were better than the first, but I don’t see myself going here anymore. It’s a good location, nice building. The window is up high enough that strangers don’t look at you funny as they walk by on the street. They give out free water bottles and I really like the chocolate mints. There are also a bunch of products at the front desk, which are pricey, but there is good selection. Everyone wears yellow and grey, the store colours, and they carry ipads around to note information on your account and to communicate with the front desk staff. They’re also really fast during the waxes.
But be warned! I was chastised for waiting too long between treatments by my first waxer. She seemed pretty pissed with me, just because I hadn’t been to a wax in the last month. I could tell she was stressed because she was rushing through the job trying to rip out hair as fast as possible. She kept saying she would have to extend my appointment because I was going to take so long, making me feel pretty bad about it. Then she tore my skin! Down there! Yikes! That wasn’t so bad, I told her it was okay because I knew she was freaking out, but then she blamed me for it saying my hair was too long! She put some medication on it and just thrust a bunch of ‘I love my muff’ wipes into my hands. I felt pretty bad and embarrassed about that too, so it’s a surprise I came back two more times. The second time I had a tear in the same place again and when my (new) waxer made a note on my account, she noticed that the last one hadn’t written anything about it! The third time my skin tore, she told me not to come back for a number months until it heals. What’s also kind of weird is that you have to undress in front of the waxer, I’d rather have some privacy.
I might come back to this place later, but for now I’m a little scarred– literally and figuratively!

My usual waxing place (Civello Rosedale) books up way in advance, and I decided on a whim to try WAXON Waxbar to get my eyebrows and upper lip cleaned up as I was walking down Yonge.
Never again.
My aesthetician (I missed her name) asked about my previous experiences with waxing, and I warned her that my brow bone skin is extremely sensitive, and that it’s been ripped/​burned a few times before. She said that she was going to be careful, and talked about a coconut and vanilla wax that would soothe the skin while waxing.
I walked out with the worst rips/​burns on my brow bones that I’ve EVER had. Both eyes have huge raw red patches right above them. I didn’t realise how bad it was until after I had left, since the usual tingly/​burny sensation of waxing covered it up.
I’ve now spent 12 hours applying cold compresses and polysporin to try and minimize the damage.
I can’t recommend this place at all.

This is what sets Waxon apart from the other places I have been to for bikini waxes:
— Impeccable customer service. When I arrived, they gave me a branded water bottle. The girl who waxed me noted my preferences in my account so I will not have to make any requests in the future.
— Superior products. The wax is a blue cold wax which barely hurts. It does not irritate the skin at all, and the girls have a great technique for minimal pain. Also, there is a green ingrown hair solution which I bought ($ 30 or$ 35) and am very pleased with.
–Great packages. There are several package options at Waxon for various services. They break down the cost of each package and how much money you will save. I bought one after my first visit.
I highly recommend waxon!

My usual go-​to place for waxing is always busy so I have to make appointments weeks in advance. I also just wanted to see what else was out there so I did a Unilocal search for other places that a) waxed and b) that was close to my house — I found WAXON Waxbar.
Steps away from Summerhill Station, I found WAXON Waxbar pretty easily. I love the interior here; it’s all white and yellow. It’s minimalistic, but looks neat and sleak. Being able to book on-​line is always a plus for me as well; I think I booked my appointment at 2 in the morning. Another plus about this place is that it is so clean — all sticks for waxing are used once and once only! I was impressed with the service here — the woman who waxed me was very friendly and chatted throughout the entire appointment, which allowed me to think of something else besides the pain. Pricing here is average, which I don’t mind because the service is excellent here (I was offered a bottle of water as I waited). Can’t wait to go back.

If your looking for an amazing place to get waxed. You have looked no further. Its an amazing place, amazing products, good prices. and amazing staff. ANGIE is amazing who knows her stuff! I love that woman. She is so friendly and always makes you feel comfortable. She is the reason why i continue to go all the time. Take it from the other reviews, if it is your first time, go and see Angie, she is quite simple the best! Angie. I’ll see you soon :)

After many months of seeing Angie, I think it’s safe to say that this is probably the best place to have a brazillian wax in Toronto. I’ve been to other waxing «bars» and day spas and I keep on coming back here because I am consistently impressed and satisfied with their customer service and actual wax job.
Angie makes you feel comfortable and she’s so fast and efficient that it’s practically pain-​free. I like the way she waxes so that hair doesn’t break resulting in any ingrown hairs afterwards.
Being honest, there is a bit of an up-​sell on their products and I wish they were cheaper… but I am more than happy spending my $ 40 on a good quality wax instead.
I will definitely remain a customer here!

I’ve been seeing Angie for 6 months now and look forward to my waxes (yeah, weird I know!) because she is so fun to chat with and does such a professional, thorough and [relatively] painless job.
The space is nice and modern, super clean and all staff are friendly. They also use hard wax — which I find way better for my sensitive skin.
While there is definitely some typical up selling of product, it’s not worse than anywhere else I’ve been (aside: I have actually really enjoyed the body scrub suggested to me and their prince reigns serum has been repurchased several times).
I’ll definitely be buying another ‘bar tab’ when my current one is finished.

Dropped by while I was in the area for a quick underarm wax. The place is still pretty busy during the middle of the week, but I guess thats the charm of it still being new.
My session was okay. This «bar» uses mostly hard wax which is great for some regions and some people, but not so good for others. After going at my underarms with 3 rounds of hard wax, my waxer finally switched to soft wax (the one with the strips). Even then, there were still hairs left. Her tweezing was unpleasant and amateurish.
Some people have mentioned how they try to upsell you while you’re at their hot wax mercy. This is true. A $ 16 wax led to a $ 60 total incl tax, tip, and an ingrown hair serum. I can’t even tell if its working.
Overall my experience was acceptable. The prices are a little higher here than my regular spot, but more importantly, while it didn’t hurt as much as other locations, my hair DID grow back in less than 2 days. Its not a proper wax if you’re just breaking the hairs.

I’d like to say I’m a pretty open person but now we’re getting personal.
So I’m going to «wax» some poetic here on what it’s like to get a Brazilian. Whoo Boy, it’s about to get HOT in here!
FYI Gents — you can get your «Man-​zillian» here and no-​one in Rosedale need not know! You can enter from the back entrance (no pun intended). It’s discreet and your lady won’t even know how smooth you got. Unless you show up at the same appointment. Now, that would be awkward!
VIBE
Waxon’s décor is a great mix between the masculine and the feminine. Dark grey walls are offset by lemon accents. If I’m going to get my nether-​regions plucked, it doesn’t have to be in a pink, pink and more pink setting.
The ladies at the desk make you feel comfortable right away and are super happy to help you. I love the personal touches as well: they have wipes in the bathroom so you can be clean for your appointment. That said, more hooks in the room to hang your clothes would be nice. Angie, my waxer was also a pro. She was very friendly, interpersonal but never stepped over the line. She didn’t make you feel uncomfortable about dropping trou in front of her. The experience was more «let’s get the job done and have fun.»
Everything is SUPER CLEAN and bonus, you get a mint at the end of it all!
THE SERVICE
Prepping for a visit to a few bathhouses in Budapest thus prepared me for my first Brazilian. I tried to procrastinate it as long as I could! But there can’t be any «spiders.» Was I nervous? Yep. Did it hurt? Yep.
Did it hurt as much as I expect? Yep.
But what eased everything was Angie’s delicate touch. She let me take breaks when I needed to and told me to pull on the leg (I never knew) for when the wax was coming. It was hot wax but not as hot as I thought.
She tried to get through it as quickly and effortlessly as possible and eased me in conversation the whole way through.
The service was definitely worth it. I was hair free for over two weeks! Whoo Hoo. And I pranced through those bathhouses with aplomb.
Did I get a bit of an upsell on $ 6 soap? Yes. But it’s actually really nice soap with a loofah inside of it! I highly recommend. I also highly recommend the Prince Reigns gel to prevent ingrown hairs for future. That really helped with the redness and soreness thereafter. Waxon sells it exclusively in Toronto.

This place is great! Its close to my place and SUPER clean and friendly and pretty inexpensive.
I followed Angie from another place that she worked at and from now on will not let anyone else do my waxing! Somehow she makes brazilians not so painful. Really though, I’ve cancelled when her old place said she would be doing my waxing and tried to put me with someone else…
Definitely the new go to. Booking online just makes life so much easier, and the «bartabs» or whatnot are great. pay for a couple the first time, and all your next ones book online, and walk in and out! Doooone!

I just moved into the neighbourhood and was dreading having to trek all over the city to my favourite waxing spots (one in the east end and one down on queen west).
WAXON is clean clean clean and the prices are great! Cheaper for brows and bikini waxes than either of the other places I’d been going to.
My waxologist was Angie, who’s been working as a waxer for 16 years. She did a great job on my brows, they look perfect and it was much less painful than I anticipated.
I pre-​booked my next wax and I am thinking seriously about trying a leg wax.
They have a great full menu of services (waxing only) for men and women, and my understanding is they have a sneaky back entrance for men who are interested in a discreet wax.
Totally worth a try!
