I have only been here once. I got a light blue shellac manicure and noticed that after 5 days, the colour on one hand was yellowing. I went back in and complained — with low expectations, as previous salons I’ve been to haven’t been willing to fix issues like this (they either blame it on me or want to charge me to redo it). Not only did Vanessa Nails redo that hand immediately, no question, no charge, they also redid the other hand just in case! Excellent customer service — I will absolutely be a repeat customer!

The very last time I went to Vanessa’s was extremely disappointing. I have been witnessing their service decline but refused to admit it to myself because staff are friendly and the location was ideal.
But I got a SERIOUS INFECTION from the last shellac manicure I received because the technician wouldn’t take her time with my cuticles.
She had me bleeding at her station and my finger was swollen and pussy for a week afterwards. It finally came down yesterday.
This was totally avoidable and unprofessional and my technician knew it. Her work was shoddy because they were busy and she couldn’t wait to get to her next customer.
I had saved my visit for the weekend before my move but wish I hadn’t bothered.
Glad to be moving on.

I’ve been going to Vanessa nails and spa for about 5 years whenever I needed to have my nails done. I usually get acrylics done but sometimes a mani. After my latest experience here, I will not be returning to this spa, or recommending it to anyone. First, before I had even left the spa, my nail Polish had already gotten ruined (despite sitting through 20 minuets of a UV dry cycle. My nails are not properly covered, and I can still see spots of nail in which the lady forgot to paint. Not to mention– the acrylic she did is not flat or properly done at all, all my nails are uneven and bumpy and they look horrible. I feel as though I could have done a better job myself. When I arrived at the cash, I got charged an extra 10 $ (I have no idea why). I may have to go and get my nails done again before New Years, and I am not too happy about wasting my money. Also, one of the worker’s young daughters was in the spa, running around and putting bunny ears behind clients heads and laughing as they were getting their treatments. I will never go back here and am so disappointed.

Always fun and excellent service at Vanessa Nails. Staff is friendly and provide very good quality service. 100%!!

I’m from the area and was looking for a nail place that was walking distance. Last year, I walked by the place at around 10am for a walk-​in appointment, but despite their signage which said «10am-​8pm», they weren’t open. So, I walked in to the nail place next door and received delightful service.
However, I’m a big fan of OPI Gel because of its longevity and non-​chip factor and Vanessa Nails has them! I’m pleasantly surprised with the outcome! Two weeks and 1 day later and my nails still look as shiny and new (except for the growth). I would go back to Vanessa Nails again for the Shellac Manicure!

I go back and forth on Vanessa’s when it comes to getting a shellac manicure — I’ve been in four times, and it really does seem to depend on which lady is doing your nails. Twice everything was great — nice colours selection, applied well, enjoyable experience. I was a fan! The third time, they cut my nails WAY too short, and the base coat of the shellac stuck to the area between my nail and my finger, leaving it feeling gummed up and uncomfortable. The fourth time, my manicurist spent the entire appointment with her phone propped up next to her, FaceTiming someone. I couldn’t understand her, but the conversation lasted half an hour and the tone definitely suggested it was a gab session, not anything urgent that couldn’t have waited until we were finished. I felt uncomfortable and like I was inconveniencing her, and when I looked at my nails after, I was disappointed — it was the sloppiest manicure I’ve ever gotten. I still regret paying and tipping without even saying something — I should’ve spoken up. I haven’t been back since.
Then again, the salon is clean and nice, and the price is on par with others in the area. So I guess your visit all depends on the manicurist.

Only downfall is they are really pushy with their waxing. I got waxed without my permission! Happened before I even knew what was happening. Good think I liked it :)

For some reason, I’m a pedi-​phobe. In case that is not a word that comes up in your dictionary (I JUST MADE IT UP) allow me to elaborate: pedicures freak me out. I don’t like the touching, and the soaking, and the scraping, and the scrubbing.
But I sure do like the results.
Thankfully I was wrangled into a pedicure at Vanessa Nails when it first opened, and have returned many times since for pedicures, manicures, waxing and threading. All services are done efficiently, and very affordably by Toronto standards:
pedicures run $ 25;
mani/​pedis $ 30; and
the standing special for waxing is 20% off for any services over $ 25.
The space is clean, on-​street parking is rarely tough to secure right in front, and the double wall of polish colour options has me willing to face my fear of pedicures regularly in the name of sandal season.
Unilocal note: if possible, I (strongly) recommend visiting Vanessa’s during an off-​time *in addition to* calling in advance for an appointment. Many times I’ve seen walk-​ins during peak times and — in the name of business — employees never say that they can’t take them, regardless of how busy they are. A pre-​existing appointment buffers you from that (a little. No promises that you won’t still be playing Musical Chairs with one of the five massaging pedicure chairs).

I use to go to Pleasant nails awhile back. When Vanessa Nails opened I as well decided to check it out as the store looked clean and hygenic, which it is. Vanessa the owner who is usually there, actually used to work at Pleasant nails and decided to open up her own shop. I have gotten to know these wonderful, friendly, ladies as friends now for whenever I come in they know me by name, to the point they drove me home once because my toes were still wet!
The price, quality, atmosphere, cleanliness, is the best bang for your buck. And like all the other reviews say, your mani/​pedi lasts a long time. I highly suggest getting a SHELLAC manicure as they last 2 weeks. And as the other reviews say if you pay cash, no tax.
Great place in the city by far. I actually went to ‘Good Nails’ near Sporting Life near the funeral home on Yonge and Blythwood and it was horrible. The guy who owns it treats the ladies like they’re his slaves. They don’t talk and they seem scared for their life.
Definitely go check Vanessa Nails out and say hi to Vanessa. Had to write this review to let everyone know how amazing it is!

Stumbled upon this nail salon and was immediately impressed by the décor and how nice it looked. Very minimalist white décor and very clean inside.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They have both OPI and Essie nail polish to choose from, a very wide selection of colours available.
They also have a student special — $ 30 for mani/​pedi, and if you pay cash, they don’t charge tax.
Will definitely be returning for the great service and great price!

I have been to Vanessa Nails & Spa twice now. Once for a mani, and once for a pedi.
What drew me into the shop was how clean it looked. Upon further finger and toe investigation, this place is spotless. Even the bathroom is super clean.
Vanessa Nails has your standard OPI and essie polishes, as well as the OPI shellac line.
The mani that I had at Vanessa Nails LASTED LONGER than another other nail shop that I have been to. So — as you can imagine, I wanted to tend to my toes to see if my happiness with Vanessa Nails continued. And — it did. They have THE BEST MASSAGE CHAIRS! These chairs even massage the sides of your butt! I really didn’t want to get out of the chair.
The prices are quite reasonable. For a pedi, it is $ 25. For a mani/​pedi combo it is $ 30.
