Town Inn Suites

It was crap;. No baking sheets or frypan in the kitchen either. Only one bedsheet and the furnace is either too hot or too cool; now I have a dry throat as a result for the rest of the week. There’s plaster in the bathtub and the hot/​cold knobs are reversed. $ 14/​night for Wifi and the TV takes forever (has HDMI). The only positive is the cozy layout and leather couches. As a plus, the staff were friendly but NO HEALTH cards will be accepted at front desk. The photos with the nice beds (taken from the website) IS A COMPLETE LIE!

I’ve experienced much better and this hotel property has experience much better days. The suites are tired looking and the furniture is cheap. The staff at the hotel are doing their best but it’s quite clear that the people who manage/​run the hotel aren’t really interested in sprucing it up or modernizing it.
It’s just the little things like, I don’t know, the shower not being 100% clean, the peeling wallpaper in the living room or no hooks on the back of the doors in the bathroom or bedroom or how all of the stuff on the kitchen counter doesn’t really fit.
Be forewarned that you will have to pay for Wi-​Fi access and it’s currently $ 14/​day. That’s kind of a rip-​off

I was ok with the place. it was kinda cool.
I didnt like hearing a 2^nd story about billing at check out. The rep was arguing with me about my rate. It took 20 mnutes to finally get the message loud and clear to him as I was going to get the rate I was told. No one should have to put up a battle and/​or have the story change. Thats why their rating on here isnt a 5. Otherwise, I would have given them a 5.

Friendly staff, good location, relatively cheap price, and nice accommodations (though slightly in need of repair, and with some services extra) make it a reasonable place to stay.
After reading a lot of catastrophically negative reviews (after I already booked my room), I was quite nervous. However, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with almost all of my stay. Apparently previously a apartment complex, it has been undergoing renovations to make it a passable hotel. I think I stayed in a suite, which was spacious and well provisioned with couches, nice tv, full kitchen, balcony, and wall AC. Bed Was comfy, linen clean, and housekeeping prompt and thorough. Staff were universally professional, accommodating, and friendly the entire trip. Location was great, just a few blocks from the métro stop, and a brief stroll to everything you’d want downtown. Rate was quite affordable for similar properties in the area.
Downside: you’ll see other reviews state that the rooms are in disrepair, and while I found my room to be satisfactory, it too was not perfect: weird stains in shower floor, bathroom door cracked at the bottom so not close all the way, and weird dark staining on the faux wood floor closest to the AC. Nothing was a deal breaker though. Fitness center needs work, as it is cardio only without weights. Pool looks reasonable, nothing special. Internet, breakfast, and parking are extra fees.
Reasonable place, not the death trap other reviews suggest, just nothing special either.

HORRIBLE… they advertise the beautiful suites. however we were given the GHETTO SUITE… looked like cottage furniture… Manager was rude… I had them come in and see that there were no screens on the window the answer was you shouldn’t open the window with no air … that was not a solution. It was filthy… cigarette burns in the carpet, electrical cover plates missing (not great with kids and I had my 4 year old granddaughter) Got in the elevator and it smelled of pet urine… so the cleaning lady tried she sprayed in the elevator, however I have Asthma so I ended up using my puffer for the next two days… The cleaning supervisor didn’t speak English, so she just looked at me when I showed the problems to her… The location is great but that is it… As I was walking out the door to the next suite was open and it was like a scene out of the Eddie Murphy movie coming to America… those suites do exist. at the same price we were not given one… So I moved to the Marriot by the Eaton Center and enjoyed the rest of my stay in Toronto…
When I went to the manager all he could say was I am sorry??? Worse customer service ever!!!
DO NOT RENT THERE it is not worth the money … unless you want to experience low income housing…

I stayed here a while ago and am just getting around to writing the review so part of what I comment on may be moot BUT if you go here and they assign you an older room that has not yet been renovated ask to be changed to a room that looks like what is on the brochure. When I got there late at night and was given a room which reeked of cigarettes and stale booze, I complained and was immediately moved to another room. The change was slightly better and smelled a lot better. In the morning I spoke with the day manager and was given a room that was recently renovated and wifi charges was waived.
My time in Toronto immediately took a turn for excellent. The modern décor of the hotel was fun but wear and tear was already showing as the furniture is easily scratched. It was great to have a full kitchen if you are planning an extended stay. I was there for over a week and while it was great to taste the local fare it was even better to have access little noshes and water on hand for midnight snacks.
The neighborhood is walkable and there is an amazing coffee shop across the street that serves the best mocha café. In a short walk from the hotel you can find anything to eat and/​or drink and a metro station is nearby. It was fun just to walk around and take in the diversity of the community, be amazed by the architecture and get excited about the new development.

I stayed here from Thursday to Sunday. It was nice, clean and relatively spacious. I stayed in a queen suite. The kitchen was useful. The accomodations were nice. Swam in the pool twice. Staff was helpful. The internet sucked though. And paying $ 12 a day for it was not the greatest. The hotel is an easy 15 minute walk the Eaton Centre and just a few minutes from Yonge Street. I plan on staying here again. Frankly, it is not a swish hotel, but for the $ 130 a day that I paid I got a major bargain. For the money it is a better hotel than any in the area.

after reading reviews here and elsewhere i was pretty sceeered to come! Unilocalers had me afraid of noise, rudeness, dirty and décor. but hey, we’re doing great. the room is great, the kitchen clean and all around it’s a good place for the price — especially if you’re here for any length of time and want to save by cooking your own food.
now, the cons:
1/​the wifi is as spectacularly bad as others have said. just plain doesn’t work. it was covered by my company but if i were paying for it i would be having a conniption. sooooo bring a cord! i brought a 20 footer and can use my laptop in the living room or bedroom. however i only brought one and have to share it with my husband because the wifi really does suck…
2/there’s an older asian guy who works the front desk in the mornings and he is a big grump. everyone else has been warm and welcoming but they defer to him when you ask for directions etc. and he just grumps at you so much that you don’t wanna ask anymore questions. really not cool.
3/​the hook on the back of the bathroom door is missing. you never know how much you need that hook until you don’t have one.
4/​we dropped som’n on the kitchen floor and the ants came in fast. picked it up and they went away.
5/​looks like the elevators are a mess. can’t be sure. we’re on the second floor and use the stairs which is swell but our friends are staying up high and seem to have to wait a lot.
6/​that tv only in the living room is a bit of a pain but what are you gonna do?
7/​our room size (not sure what it is) is not a great place for a couple when it comes to eating. no table, only one chair for the desk.
other pros:
1/​any time i’ve asked for something they brought it right away, extra blanket, working radio, dishwasher detergent.
2/​neighborhood is great. lots of fun things around and a good variety. gay village south, more corporate-​y stuff north, tons of shopping, cafes, international foods all around
3/​everything works, water temp and pressure, heating, iron, etc.
we’re not fancy folk so we’re happy.

I spent a week here for work in a king-​size one-​bedroom (free upgrade on checkin). The room has a lot of amenities, like a full kitchen and a TV in the living room and bedroom. It also had a dining room table and a small kitchen table. So a lot of space for just one guy. Unfortunately the first weekend I was there was also Caribana, which meant the hotel was full of drunken party-​goers until 6am Saturday night, and people were screaming in the streets and cars honking and general mardi gras type mayhem. The walls are surprisingly thin for a 20-​storey concrete building, and the hallway door lets in a lot of noise from the hall. As well as pot smoke. Anyway, one night without sleep wasn’t too bad. The whole town was having a party I didn’t know about.
The rest of the nights were quiet, although the doors to other rooms on the floor make a lot of racket when they close. The price is pretty good considering how nice the area is. I didn’t get to try the pool, but I checked out the exercise room, which is a bit cramped and could use some weights/​resistance.

So me and my boyfriend stayed here on a night out on the town, and let’s just say I will NEVER be back. Décor was horrible, appliances were BROKEN, and I mean broken. The stove wasn’t working when I was trying to heat up my food, neither was the microwave, after we called for someone to fix it, they had taken 45 minutes to get to the room and I was livid. Second, the breakfast wasn’t included neither was WiFi, and I could’ve lived with that if it wasn’t for the CONSTANT RINGING OF THE STOVE. We called to get it fixed and their answer was «Turn the knob someone can’t keep going to your room for maintenance problems». When we turned this goddamned knob it rang every 25 minutes we went to the front desk and they were rude when all I wanted to do is sleep. Third, half of the lights in the bedroom didn’t work. Fourth, the sofa had springs missing and we couldn’t even sit in it. Fifth, the shower head didn’t produce ANY water and I mean any, I used a bowl to shower that day. I am done, if there was a 0 star I would definitely give it. For a better suite at a different hotel the price is the same if you factor in breakfast and wifi. I will be going to chain hotels from now on

Some construction while I was there definitely interfered with my ability to do some office work in my room. Elevators were horribly slow. Other than that, no complaints! Great part of town and an incredible value.

I had an absolutely dreadful experience.
Some friends and I stayed here while visiting Toronto over a weekend, and what a mistake it was to book here. We booked a suite over two months ago, and out of nowhere a week before our arrival they called us to say that some theatre group was arriving in Toronto and they would need our suite; they offered us two smaller (and separate) suites. That was infuriating considering that we had booked the room so far in advance. Nevertheless, we decided to accept their terms. Two days before our date of arrival, they unexpectedly reversed their decision and gave us back the suite, with no reason in particular to give us.
When we stepped in we were impressed — initially. The lobby is beautiful. However, the first thing the clerk told us was that parties aren’t allowed. We said we understood and that we weren’t planning on having a party. The clerk leaned over and looked at us real hard and said, «I’m serious. One complaint and I’m throwing you all out.» That was extremely unprofessional of them in my opinion, as well as terribly unfair.
Now, on to the suite. It was terrible. There were blood stains all over the bedrooms’ carpets (yes, seriously), the paint was peeling, the balcony had leftover garbage on it from previous customers and it was generally an ugly, uncomfortable décor. We decided to check for bedbugs — thankfully, there were none. However, the blood stains were a bit much. I have a morbid sense of humour and we all took it in stride, but I’m pretty sure the average person doesn’t enjoy stepping barefoot onto blood stains, or to wax poetic about where they came from.
The internet was $ 12 a night. We refused to pay for it out of principle. What is this, 1998? They had a breakfast thingamabob too but you had to pay about $ 10 for that, too. We made few local phone calls using the phone in our room and later found out we were charged $ 0.85 per phone call, even though they were local. We were never told about this nor were there any signs indicating this. There were three elevators but only one worked at any given time. At one point someone pushed the buttons to every floor in the building, which normally I would find hilarious, but not so much when there is only one working elevator when I have to be somewhere.
When we had made the original booking we had asked for three cots (mattress and box spring) to go with the room. When we got there they refused to give us three and said they’d only give us one. They also insisted on charging $ 25 per cot even though they had originally included it in their initial booking price. They brought us two cots, and wouldn’t explain why they had JUST said one and why they had refused us three. It made no sense and was a total fiasco. One of my friends ended up having to sleep on the floor because of this. Ridiculous.
One night I asked the clerk for some plastic cups and toilet paper, and he sent someone to our room with exactly three cups and exactly one roll of toilet paper. He might as well have not come.
When we checked out, they had tacked an extra $ 200 over what they had originally quoted us. This is not including the price of parking, the phone calls, and the cots. It was just there. It made no sense. They had told us one thing and charged us another. We were livid.
I’ll eat Nickelodeon Gak before I go back to this hack shack.

The hotel is a renovated apartment bldg. I had a one bedroom king suite with full kitchen. The hotel was going through a renovation period. The kitchen water was poor. The room showed its age. At times, one of the three elevators was working. Sometimes, I had to take the stairs.

My room was HORRIBLE. Peeling paint, Nasty Tub, Stained and wrinkled carpet. internet is nearly useless and $ 12/​night. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Room smelled of too much cleaner to cover up other smells. Toilet dripped all night. DO NOT STAY HERE. I unfortunately had to book a room late for a microsoft conference and was charged over $ 300/​night for a room not worth $ 50.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Never, under any circumstances, stay here. One out of three elevators worked in a hotel of more than 20 floors. Our room smelled of chemicals and filth simultaneously. The carpet was stained, the wallpaper was peeling, there was no hot water, it was noisy, and — best of all — the place was infested with bedbugs. Yes, bedbugs. We checked in at 7:30 pm and fled by 10 pm. When we explained to the front desk staff why we were leaving so abruptly, they seemed utterly unsurprised and did nothing to appease us. You’re better off sleeping in the sewer. Stay away!

Personally, I’ve been here many, many times and enjoyed my visit.
Pros: it’s good for a group gather, the suites and big and spacious. The kitchen is equipped with cutlery, pots&pans and fridge. The bed is nice and comfy. Two tv’s, one in living room and one in bedroom.
Cons: The pictures are NOT what they look like on the site, everything is a lot more outdated than it looks, ESPECIALLY the pullout couch! Everything is outdated!
Again, most of my visits were group gathering so we didn’t pay much attention to the outdated furniture.

This apartment hotel has been renovated since the other two negative reviews were posted but it still has some problems:
PROS: The updated décor in the rooms looks good. The one bedroom suites are quite spacious (1401), the décor is contemporary and fresh although the kitchens are still a bit dated circa 1995. My bathroom was starting to show some wear with pealing paint. The bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the blackout curtains. Parking is plentiful in the underground garage at a reasonable $ 22 a day.
CONS: $ 12 a day for wireless Internet. What year is it, 2005? It’s crazy for hotels to still charge for Internet use when most throw it in for free. Even the cheap Econo Suites a few blocks away has it for free.
I didn’t try the restaurant in the basement or use the pool or sauna.
Overall, a decent choice especially if you’re looking for a long term place to stay. However, the daily Internet charge is very annoying.

I feel bad writting a negative review on this place because the staff was crazy nice. The room however, was terrible. The carpet had tons of stains, the fridge didn’t close all the way, there was clearly a smoking room below us and we could smell smoke often and the bathroom was beyond nasty. There were smears of something on the walls and there were pubes on the towels and hair in the bed. We went down to the front desk and asked if they had any updated rooms available (they are slowly remodeling), but they didn’t. Then we asked for new towels and sheets and a huge stack of each were brought up within 10 minutes. This hotel is located in the gay district of Toronto, which I didn’t think would be an issue, but it streets around the hotel really are gross. The staff is ridiculously nice and helpful. If you could get an updated room, then I think this hotel would be acceptable.

While they’ve done a good job at renovating what used to be an old high-​rise apartment building, it’s history is still very obvious. One of these rooms would be great if you were spending a week or more in Toronto and wanted to save money by making your own food, as it has a kitchen with a fridge and an oven, but if you’re just looking for a nice weekend in the city to relax, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. The bedroom and bed was tiny with no TV in it and the TV in the living room space was very small and very old. The room also still had a tinge of that old «someone used to live here and smoke a lot» smell.
I’d recommend they get some new TVs and some incense and things would be a lot better!
