I found it great for a mid day get away when I was studying at George Brown College, St. James campus. It amazing to see the several pockets of amazing Toronto has. This is definitely one of them

Not very big, but the I really dig the concept of having a sculpture garden. Good for you Toronto! As mentioned, they switch things up every now and then. I don’t usually make a point to go check on the garden, but when the weather is good and I’m in that neck of the woods I’ll pop in and poke around. Seems like a nice place to set up shop with a book as well. In the past they’ve done pretty neat stuff here for Nuit Blanche as well. Overall, if you’re not from town and nearby definitely check it out. Unless it’s winter/tundra time, probably best to seek out indoor art!

Whether you’re a fan of Super Mario Bros. or not, you have to admit, there’s something to be said about cute mushrooms… especially giant ones that look like houses. Although artist Katie Bethune-Leamen doesn’t live in a giant mushroom, she did build one to hold her studio. The Toronto Sculpture Gardens recent exhibition, Bethune-Leamen’s tiny studio is situated inside the stem of the large champignon, with windows that let you peak in and see her tiny studio set-up. The massive fungus will remain until April 15, 2009, so check it out while you can. But don’t fret if you miss it, the garden has a rich history of picking thought provoking pieces.(Maybe next a giant peach? Wait, that’s been done before…)
