Specialties
Toronto Animal Services (TAS) encourages safe and enjoyable communities for both people and animals. TAS promotes the human/animal bond, encourages voluntary compliance with animal-related laws, promotes pet adoption, pet identification and spaying/neutering of domestic animals.
History
Established in 1998.
In 1998, the City of Toronto amalgamated and Toronto Animal Services was formed. Prior to that, each of the 6 former municipalities (Scarborough, East York, Toronto, York, North York and Etobicoke) all had their own Animal Care and Control operations.
Toronto Animal Services is now the largest municipal animal services agency in Canada, with 4 animal shelters, 3 spay/neuter clinics and around the clock field services.
