The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto

This hotel is up for sale, so — nobody cares.
Parking is expensive ($ 35/​night) & Valet is even worse ($ 45/​night). They are not luxury service providers by any means. It is super disorganized. Long messy lines.
Bell Man — Sometimes they leave your bags on a trolley unattended when they get busy.
Front Desk — the LINES are INSANE! I’ve seen hour long waits to just check in. Sign up for SPG Membership, u get a different line up which can sometimes be faster.
Room — Renovated, slightly updated. The Westin bedsheets are the best. I
Cleaning Lady/​Service — The cleaning ladies are terrible. They don’t follow proper sanitation guidelines. They touch your toilet then place fresh towels in your bathroom, then touch your bedsheets. They rarely empty garbage bins properly, so in some rooms they smell. The rooms are incredibly dusty.
Room Service — Terrible. Food is bad. They always mess up the order. OVERPRICED. $ 35 for a simple breakfast that sucks is ridiculous.
Maintenance may randomly knock on your door to inspect. Be aware to put a sign on the door or lock it if you are taking a shower or plan to sleep in, this made for an awkward experience — twice.
«Service Express» — This is the ONLY way to contact anyone inside the hotel. Front Desk, Valet, Room Service etc,. all together on 1 button to call out & there is nothing «EXPRESS» about this. I’ve waited for up to 15 minutes for someone to answer & get my car called up.
I stayed here for at least 30 nights because of business.
Overall, nothing good about this expect the bedsheets & location. If you like clean, service, any sort of hotel luxuries, not the place for you.

Ordered room service late in the evening. The food was good and came faster than expected. Not 5 stars because of the expense… but given the lateness of the hour and the weather outside…

I stayed here one night during the panam games. It was busy and full of life and energy as many tourists and competition teams were also staying here. There were lots of volunteers around to provide information, too. Unfortunately none of them knew where a good place to eat was around the area. Totally not helpful, unlike the staff who were quite friendly and helped fix our reservation (it was booked a week later by accident). The room was clean and had a nice view. The beds were big and comfy. Slept like a baby.

Very slow and poor service. Waited to get my room for over 3 hours and they keep telling me it will be ready shortly.

Very good location: close to downtown and near the lake. The rooms need to be renovated: furniture was chipped and stained, draws could not stay closed. No complimentary Internet — not even for elite SPG members. Usually SPG properties allow you to use computers in the lobby or in the Business Center, but not here.

I stayed in the Westin Harbour Castle when I visited Toronto in August 2015 for a convention, and I have to say it was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had! The room was beautiful with a view of the lake, the bed was extremely comfortable, the staff was courteous and helpful, the room was clean, there was an indoor pool that was at the perfect temperature (an important feature for me — not too cold), and the convention facilities were excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and plan on staying there again in the future!

I’ve stayed at the Westin Harbour Castle on multiple occasions. It’s a very typical Westin: good shower, comfortable bed, same furniture. It’s also quite large with two towers with at least 35 floors in each. The lobby is always busy, which means if you check in on a Monday night, you’ll probably be waiting for a bit.
As for the rooms, they are on the small side but functional. Nothing will surprise you when you walk in the door. The only reason I’d ding the Westin Harbour Castle a point is that the furniture is a bit dated, the TV comparatively small, and the desk chair wasn’t functional (no wheels). Service is also the same as any other Westin: Very good but not flawless. The room is always cleaned but housekeeping tends to miss the little details, like replacing the coffee or taking away dirty glasses.
Overall, the Westin is a nice hotel and comfortable for those familiar with the brand. It is geared towards business travelers, and the downtown location is quite convenient (there’s the Queens Quay TTC streetcar station across the street). I’d recommend the Westin Harbour Castle, especially one of the rooms overlooking the lake.

The best part about the stay, was the view. You can see Toronto Island, and, planes landing right beside your window (on final)…we were on the 8^th Floor.
Beautiful lobby. Rooms could be updated. If you’re going downtown, driving or taking a cab is a good idea. It’s pretty far from where you want to be. Queens Quay is cool (for out of towners), and that you can walk to.

Why 5 stars? Because it was everything you hope for in a hotel.

3 for 3 here gets 5 stars! I assume the underwhelming ratings are because of one of two things: Either the hotel was recently renovated, or I got a rare steal through Hotwire. I am not a big believer in pouring a ton of money into a hotel, since I’m just there to sleep, so I found $ 125.52 to be quite the deal for this centralized dwelling. I was able to walk to just about anything I needed during my brief stay in the land called Canada.

As an SPG Elite member (thanks to my Delta Platinum Status), I was upgraded from a normal room to a room with a river view + balcony. Talk about being spoiled!
I opted out of housekeeping for the three night stay (you get additional SPG points when you defer service), but because there were three (3) full sized towels in the room, I didn’t have to bother for any other toiletries (wait — I take that back — I needed more shampoo.)
Overall, a consistent experience everytime I stay at a Westin. Awesome ambiance, and this hotel for the rate is the best value you can get in downtown Toronto.
(The Tim Horton’s across the street doesn’t hurt either.)

This hotel was confusing and desperately in need of renovations. The air quality in the rooms and the hotel has major issues. This has been nought up previously by many guests staying here, but they have still yet to do anything about it. The food is extremely expensive, and has no taste at all. I got breakfast from the Starbucks nearby and dinner from around the area each night. The views are not the greatest, either they’re blocked by construction or by a wall. Stay at a hotel more closer to the downtown core and stay away from here.

The Westin is my go to hotel whenever I stay in Toronto. I love how close it is to a lot of great places; within walking distance to most and if you do need to go farther it’s never hard to get a taxi, they are always right outside or public transit is close if you’re willing to try to conquer the TTC.
Overall the rooms are very nice, they are modern and spacious and always clean. The lighting in the bathroom is amazing a definite perk for any girl or guy.
The continental breakfast was very filling I highly recommend the fruit parfait cups and the blueberry Greek yogurt muffins they are the best. Pool and hot tub were very relaxing both are quite large so I didn’t feel crowded at all.
However the best part of my stay was the staff, they are truly there to serve and assist you the best they can. They were always helpful and accommodating, I’ve never met a friendlier bunch of people.
I recommend this hotel for everyone whether you are just looking to relax or here on business the Westin has something for everyone!

We stayed on the 7^th floor with a harbor view. Given this is a four star hotel I expected more. My biggest complaint: there were no extra electrical outlets for charging devices. I can overlook the dust and the unclean AC but lack of electrical outlets was unacceptable.
Pros:
1. the room was spacious
2. the bathroom was well lit.
Cons:
1. wifi is $ 15 per day;
2. there were almost no outlets to plug electronics. I had to get down on the floor and unplug a lamp from the power strip Behind the night standing in order to charge my phone
3. it was dusty. I could see the dust on the dark furniture. Would not pass white glove test!
4. the air conditioner was also very dusty
5. the bathroom fan was dusty
6. bed was squeaky.
Other than that, the location was pretty good. Queens Quay was blocked off for repaving but that is not the fault of the hotel. we could walk anywhere we wanted to go and the subway was less thank two blocks away. I will return next time IF they install extra electrical outlets and also provide the fridge for free of use.
Tip: if u want to avoid spending $ 20 on coffee and pastries there’s a Tim Hortons across the street for coffee and a store called Kitchen Table if u need to buy food, etc.

This is the top hotel in Toronto for the Marriott chain (the Ritz-​Carlton is in the ultra high end category) and is located right on the waterfront
Rooms are top notch with a very modern look.
A lot of conferences are held here and there is a modern conference center attached to the property
Conferences need lots of rooms, fast and friendly service and standard amenities like Wi-​Fi, on — site parking and on — premise dry cleaning
Throw in some wonderful bars and restaurants within the hotel and everyone is happy
This hotel is also a go to hotel for the upper scale traveler with kids
The pool and spa are first rate and concierge can help keep the little ones busy
Service is understood and demonstrated at all times

I have attended graduation ceremony here and there facilities are good, We used 3 of their halls and they were spacious. Washrooms are kept clean. They do not have seating arrangements in the lobby outside the halls and Parking is expensive and is on the hotel side which is across the road.

This hotel is still a little ways from all the happenings of downtown. There’s currently a lot of construction so opt for walking or TTC’ing should you explore the area. I had the opportunity to enjoy some catered lunches; presentation was great and staff were quite attentive. I think the rooms have been renovated as the look is more modern and the shower actually spouts out hot water.
Good for: lodging

The Westin is my go-​to hotel in downtown Toronto. Sure there is the Sheraton, One King West, the Hyatt and countless other hotels closer to the epicenter of Bay Street and the banks. But if you are looking for great views (from the water-​facing rooms), fresh rooms and friendly service, the Westin is the only choice that qualifies.
I have spent almost 50 nights at the Westin over the last year. One star has to be deducted for several reasons – a bit of a convention hotel feel, no good dining options in or right around the hotel, ugly walk from the hotel to the banking district. While these might sound like significant downsides, the alternatives are much worse – Sheraton (dated rooms), One King West (variability across rooms, no loyalty program), the list goes on.
As an SPG platinum or gold member, your benefits during the stay and after (use those points to book your vacation resort in Bora Bora) are significant. Book in advance if you can – availability is scarce almost year round.

I have never, ever, ever had any issues with a Westin. This Westin in Toronto continues that streak of excellence.
Check in was extremely easy with pleasant staff.
Rooms were extremely clean and the water pressure was great!
They could improve by adding outlets by the bedstand. That I believe is almost becoming a no-​brainer in our hyper-​connected world.
Location is great, but there was a LOT of construction going on. Once they’re finished with that I think it will be better than outstanding.

Not a very good hotel, just a very large convention centric, impersonal one that is overpriced and underwhelming as a result.
And due to the large groups this hotel sell to and attracts, they don’t care much for the individual traveller. This time it was Best Buy and all their store managers in blue shirts and name tags. Next time it will be another group, perhaps insurance agents loudly congregating in the bar, lobby and anywhere else, making you want to be anywhere else virtually every time you stay there.
And the pricing gets even more mental when you park or use internet. Free wifi in a $ 300+ per night hotel? Nope. That will be $ 15 a day for wifi — because this is 1997, after all. Parking your car? Another $ 30. Add ‘occupation fees’ and that makes this a $ 360 – 400 per night hotel?
Not on my life is this Westin worth $ 400 per night.
The rooms are ok — nothing special at all and a bit drab — but certainly not old, just a bit dark and the concrete slabs, groups and scale give you a distant, impersonal feeling, especially given it’s rather dreadful location in the middle of construction, next to an old sugar mill on the lake, away from any nightlife, coffee shops or any of the buzz of Toronto.
If it wasn’t SPG and the loyalty that this generates in my habits, I would definitely be staying elsewhere. For $ 350+ I can get into the Le Germain at Maple Leaf Square and not put up with the large groups, conventions and all the «annoyingness» that they bring with them.
Bye bye Westin Toronto.

I tend to reserve Starwood properties when I can because I’m an SPG member and in general I always enjoy my stay with them. I got REALLY lucky and got a super cheap rate for this hotel so I booked it for a recent work trip. I was quite impressed with my stay here and would be willing to stay here again.
The hotel does look a little dated on the outside but they’ve done an excellent job of keeping it up inside. My room was large and clean. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t the best but I managed.
I was also impressed with the hotel gym. It had plenty of equipment which seemed new or at the very least well maintained. While I didn’t try the pool it looked pretty big and ideal if swimming is your preferred form of exercise.
The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This is a gigantic hotel consisting of two towers each with 30+ floors so give yourself a little extra time to check out and be prepared for line ups when you check in. When I checked in I was lucky and had no wait but it was a different story on check out.
