I brought my wife to see this show. Both of us really enjoyed Evil Dead the Musical and you are left the idea this show was targeted to the same crowed who made Evil Dead a success here in Toronto. I thought the show was alright. the Theatre was pretty nice, with roomy seating and a generally laid back atmosphere. They had a bar at the front of the entrance which was very bare bones to which I have seen private bars out shine this one by leagues. A disappointment was there was no food nor drinks allowed in the theatre, a throw back to the old ways of doing these shows. I found this extremely confusing as to the nature of of the musical was laid back, a comedy and it felt the same way as evil dead or other small shows like it but would not have any type of service to accommodate the type of crowed it was geared towards. Now for the show both my wife and I found it mildly entertaining, it was a decent night out and the music was decent enough. The plot was extremely shallow and well a little insulting to those who expected any type of wow factor. The price of the tickets which were in the 40 – 60 dollar range were a little over priced I felt. Generally the ticket prices for the different seating should have been about 15−20% less then posted. I truly did leave with a sense which can only be described as «meh, that wasn’t bad».

On November 27, 2009, I saw«The Toxic Avenger» Musical at the Music Hall on the Danforth. I have to say this is a musical as great as the Sound of Music and Jersey Boys. It is that good. STORYLINE The story line is basically a guy who wants to save New Jersey from all the toxic chemicals being dumped into his city and falls in love with a librarian at the same time. WHYYOUSHOULDSEEIT 1. Price of tickets — b/c the scenes are more simple than the Sound of music and they have 5 actors in comparison to 60, the price of tickets range from as cheap as free or close to it(promotions, 2 for 1 deals, day of show last minute tickets) to $ 40 dollars I believe. 2. Creativity of characters — There are only 5 actors but at least 15 different characters. I won’t spoil it but this is amazing how they do this. 3. The Caliber of Actors — The talent of the actors in the Toronto production of Toxic Avenger exceeds exceptional. I was particularly impressed with the singing of all the actors. Watch and you’ll see! 4. Q&A — A real treat is after the show, you can stay and ask the actors questions(most ppl don’t know this so lucky you read this review). You can even meet them in person, shake hands and ask for autographs. What was really special was that even after most of the audience left, Evan Alexander Smith(TOXY, the main character) stayed until every fan had left the theatre. Now that’s special. This musical is great for those who cannot afford tickets to big stage productions such as The Sound of Music but who are fans of musicals. You will be so entertained and captivated by the actors. So go ahead and buy a ticket and tell me what you thought of it!
