The Shore Leave

LOVE this place! Cocktails are always fantastic and they have $ 5 pints on Monday. Friendly staff and great tunes. Such a welcome addition to the neighbourhood!

Decent cocktails. Fun-​to-​share (but kind of weak) bowl of punch (a bit pricey at $ 65). Tiki meets thrift store aesthetic. Would be more enjoyable if the place didn’t smell like sewage every time.

So we came here on an early Saturday evening. There were less than 5 people there (including the bartender). The funny thing is that as I was looking around at how NOT happening this new venue is, I suddenly realized that I was at a tiki bar before 6pm!!! The dark night tricked me into feeling like it was 10pm! Haha oops.
This was my first tiki bar, but my partner had been to another that had a sand pit in the back. This venue does not have a similar feature, which is unfortunate. The artwork on the walls are amazing. There’s a couple games and decks of cards and books. And the drinks were… Intense (not in the good way for us, sadly).
It would be interesting to see this place when it’s full of people but with a small menu of martinis, cocktails and Canadian cheese, I’m not sure how happening this place can get. I would suggest adding some more snack foods; it will bring more people in.
This is a bit out of the way for me ATM, but I think I’d like to come check it out again someday. If there’s food. Or a better explanation of what ordering cheese will actually get me!
