Staff here is phenomenal. Jane is one of the friendliest most knowledgeable of the bunch. The prices are a bit much compared to other shops, but some of their sale stuff is great. They’re honest when they’re unsure of the answer to your question, and are totally willing to find the answer for you. When something’s out of stock, they’re prompt in calling me up about it. I keep going back because of the staff — otherwise I wouldn’t be so keen. Wish they had better bulk and milk options for the neighbourhood.

Came to buy a few things. Never again. Had the customer service been adequate even, I would have accepted the ridiculous prices. BUTWOW! Talk about mean-spirited customer service. The older lady at the cash was scowling at me.. not sure why! I’ve never felt this uncomfortable in a health food store. EVER. Too bad, it’s so close to where I live. I guess Noah’s or Whole Foods is where I’ll be going from now on. Truly annoying experience. As a future Naturopathic doctor, I would never recommend this place to any of my patients.

This is the most expensive organic/natural grocery store I have ever been in and this includes Whole Foods!!! One price comparisons: Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm: $ 7.95 Essence of Life(Kensington Market): $ 6.99 I also noted a couple of others being about a buck higher or so than in other places. I guess with such rent, you have to jack up the prices. I don’t think they have a great selection, I find them rather snotty/snooty/mean and they basically ignore customers that walk into their store. Definitely not a must-visit for me. They also missed out on some basic items in organic grocery stores, but I guess if you’re stuck in the area and you need those things, you’re forced to come here.

I should admit: I used to be a regular shopper here, but my last visit was probably well over a year ago, so I don’t know if anything has changed since then. I have no idea if the same woman(who I presumed to be the owner or manager) is still involved, but she is quite possibly one of the most MEANEST people I’ve ever encountered. Which is unbelievable, because the rest of the staff have always been sweet and lovely.(She can be spotted quite easily: light blonde, older, brittle thin, glasses, perpetually sour face who likes to speak to customers as if they’re imbeciles.) My first encounter: I go to pay for a jug of detergent. She rings it up, and loudly says(without taking her eyes from the register) «THANKYOUFORNOTUSING A PLASTICBAG» and shoves the jug in my direction. Confused, I told her that I would actually like one. She coldly looks at me and snaps: «DOESTHEHANDLENOTWORK??» while pointing to the jug. WOW. Stunned, I stammered that I still needed a bag as I was heading out to shop at other stores. Stone-faced, she grabs a bag, shoves it across the counter(refusing to look at me or bag my purchase) and yells«NEXT» to the following customer(who looked as bewildered and stunned as I was.) Now, I know I should have DEMANDED a refund at that moment, but I was honestly too shocked and humiliated, that I just wanted to get the hell out of there. My second encounter:(Yes, I actually went back. Because a TINY part of me believed that the previous incident was a fluke and maybe this woman was just having a bad day, and is not actually the miserable gorgon she appears to be.) I wanted to purchase two boxes of identical drink powder, but the boxes were priced significantly different. I asked one of the shop girls about the discrepancy. She then walks up to Ms Congeniality — who was restocking and had her back to us — and asked about the pricing. Before she could finish the sentence, the woman(again, without glancing at us) blurts: «YOUPAYWHAT’S LISTEDONTHETAG I’M NOTCHANGINGANYTHING.» The shop girl, looking sheepish, turns to me and whispers: «You should probably just take the cheaper box.» Honestly. This woman is running a HEALTHSTORE. Why the attitude and hostility?! I sincerely hope the staff didn’t have to deal with this behaviour on a regular basis, as the rest of them are kind, helpful, and actually possess the basic social skills to interact with other human beings. But I won’t be going back anytime soon.

Just visited this place today and can say it was a great experience. Lots of staff in case I needed to ask a question. Cashier was very pleasant. Great selection of bulk items. Even carry some fresh produce. My new go-to health store.

The bulk food section, while not huge, is very clean, organized and each box has its own scoop in its own little holder. I suspect, though not certain that the prices are more than you’d pay at other places but for the cleanliness factor its worth it. Plus the lady who served me gave me some good advice on how to cook my oatmeal.

Completely agree with the former reviewer about the customer service in this place. I buy a hard to find vitamin that was recommended to me, and tried a few other stores before coming here. They have a huge selection, and even when they are out of stock, they’ll special order for you. Just ask one of the friendly staff. They will help you! I had to special order last week and they said it would take up to a week and called me 2 days later. Talk about underpromise and overdeliver! It was great. They have a selection of bulk foods like nuts and grains, and organic food products, as has been mentioned before. The outside looks like a medicine shop, but they have lots more, so go inside and explore.

I like the customer service at The Health Shoppe. When I have questions, they are focused on helping the customer and they are knowledgeable. They have always been pleasant, and that is what keeps me coming back. They have a good attitude. What I like is they have some unique products that are not sold at other stores. It is a nicely organized store and a pleasure to shop there.

On Yonge street, just at the northern tip of Rosedale, sits the Health Shoppe — a meek, organic foods store with no attitude and very few customers. The store is so unobtrusive that I walked by it a thousand times on my way to work without noticing it. When I finally did notice it, it looked to me like a simple vitamin store that was food-less and therefore no fun. But one day, I decided to live a little and go against my usually poor judgement and walked in the doors. I’m glad I did. The Health Shoppe does carry food after all. In fact it has a multitude of uniquely branded cereals — many of them are start-up companies –, dried goods, and frozen products. They also have an excellent variety of bulk foods, which unlike Whole Foods, doesn’t seem like you’ve scooped up three obese men into your plastic bag when it is weighed up for pricing at the counter. The one valuable thing the store is missing is a worthwhile produce section, if this store were to throw that into the mix, people would be lined up outside the doors for their wares.
