The Good Press

I was in the area and wanted to use my Ritual app to order but ended up stopping in the store so I could ask about their different juices. The store owner (?) told me he was glad I didn’t use Ritual as he pays a fee for each use… kind of a weird thing to say to a customer. Anyway, I asked about the 2 juices with ginger in them as I haven’t exactly had a good experience with ginger in my juices… Long story short, I felt pressured into getting a juice I hated and I didn’t end up finishing (threw it out 4 hours later). I don’t even know what juice I drank because he entered it into the system without me know which of the two he put down. Definitely asked for less spice because ginger was creeping me out… still really strong and hurt my throat! Meh. Better juice places around Toronto.

Guilty Confession: I am obsessed with acai bowls. I vacationed in California a few weeks ago where my acai game was strong. Naturally, coming back to Toronto the craving ensues.
The Good Press located in Yorkville catered to my obsession. I ordered the Green Bowl: Acai purée blended with banana and spirulina, topped with organic granola and seasonal berries (approximately $ 11 a bowl).
The acai bowl was delicious, but I’ve been spoiled by the American standard portion sizes. I would have loved it more if it was 2x bigger and had more generous sprinkles of berries and toppings.
Rating:
Taste: I’d give it ⁴⁄₅ — more toppings would have evened out the acai purée to topping ratio
Value for the bowl: 2.5÷5
Service: ⁵⁄₅ — friendly staff
I’d come back to spoil myself on a hella nutritious (pricey) snack, but am also curious to try other acai bowls around Toronto — any recommendations?

Absolutely tasteless, over priced, they charge you for ONE pump of extra HONEY or agave, rude, impatient. Would say it’s ¹⁄₁₀.

This place is so refreshing. I needed a little something healthy to eat after eating out most of the week, and found this little gem. It is in Yorkville.
It was the first time that I tired an Acai Bowl and decided to get the classic. I felt that the price was a bit on the steep side. There was a lot of fresh fruits on top, and the crunchy granola added a nice touch along with coconut shreds.
I definitely enjoyed my acai bowl; it was needed! However, the price is a downside, the acai bowl was 9.61 including tax.

Best acai bowls I have found in the city so far. Super friendly staff and great service, plus a huge variety. I love this place.

I have been on the smoothie, fresh juice bandwagon for years.
Love that juices are fresh (also available pre-​bottled) and organic.
So, so good. Wish there was one closer to me!

Most juice bars in Toronto only offer juice or juice and salads. What makes The Good Press better is that their menu offers a large selection – juice, salads, puddings, and acai bowls. I especially like the acai bowls which anyone customize by adding their favourite fruits (or coconut shreds, chia seeds, and so on). The interior is kind of tight and has limited space (only one bench inside and outside), but that seems to be the case for just about everything in Yorkville. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. The prices are steep, but everything is raw, organic, and fresh.
Overall, a great juice bar and highly recommend it.
My favourites: Ruby Tuesday (Cold-​Pressed Juice), All In (Cold-​Pressed Juice), Lean Green (Made-​to-​Order Juice), Classic Acai Bowl.

This place is good. Fresh juice tastes good too so it’s not like it tastes crappy. This stuff actually tastes good and I’ve been back many times.
The people there are nice and make the juices in front of you.
This pricing is a little high I get the big breakfast which tastes damn good and it costs $ 9+tax. It’s a little steep but it’s cause it’s in Yorkville and also cause it’s fresh too.
There’s always a cute girl there that wears blue glasses. She’s helpful and very nice. She makes my drinks most of the time when I go there and recommends good drinks to me too.

Location Location Location. The Good Press is located near Bay station and it’s also tucked away in Yorkville. I was curious about cold pressed juices and their Black Beauty combination was delicious! They have a big menu to choose from and the prices are quite steep for whole foods. Then again, location.

I had my first acai bowl there this weekend. I ordered the classic, and it was so good! My boyfriend had the Black Beauty smoothie, which was also really tasty. The only downside to this place is that there really isn’t anywhere to sit and eat.

Cute little café in yorkville that was rather difficult to locate, I must say. I didn’t have to wait a super long time and I walked on a weekday afternoon. I got the date acai bowl which was the most appetizing sounding due to cacao nibs and dates. This was my first time trying an acai bowl. It was okay, don’t know if I’d order it again. I wanted the Black Beauty pressed juice but they didn’t have it that day. No seating area available, this is somewhere you stop and pick up a snack before you drop $ 500 on a Miu Miu wallet.

Have been going to this place ever since it opened. The only reason I am giving a 4 star is because of its pricing. This place does use fresh and mostly organic and local produce but the price is a bit steep. Their acai bowl is the best in the city — cold and refreshing because they used the frozen acai berry pack. Their cold pressed juiced — especially the Emerald City is my go-​to. I rarely order their custom juices /​smoothies (tried one before and wasn’t a fan) but for pre-​made cold pressed juices and acai bowls, highly recommend!

After my visit to Over the Rainbow, I stumbled upon The Good Press. I stopped inside because I remembered my best friend mentioning about their cold press juices. After my trip from LA, I had become extremely fascinated with cold press juice and their benefits.
I love the fact that they offered samples of all of the cold press juices because just from reading the descriptions of the juices, it was really hard to distinguish whether or not they tasted great. I ended up purchasing the 500mL Ruby Tuesday (Beets, carrots, ginger, apple, lemon) for $ 13 (tax included). This is actually my number go to combination.
The price is reasonably priced for all the ingredients that are inside the juice. What was amazing was that their menu offered a variety of different options.

I went there to have an Acai Bowl and it IS NOT Acai, just the name. Basically you pay 10 dollars for Half of a banana.
If you expecting to have Brazilian Acai don’t go there, it tastes like normal juice, NOT ACAI.

Sure my Cold Cure was nice and tangy (orange, ginger, lemon) and yes the spiced chocolate nut milk I sampled was okay, but they didn’t seem worth the price. Maybe that’s an asinine comment, given that this is a cold-​pressed juice place in Yorkville. I mean what should I expect? Anyway, I’m waiting for a juice and smoothie bar in Toronto that’ll wow me.

A long-​awaited, genuine smoothie and juice shop in Yorkville. Folks should be very happy they’ve landed in the neighbourhood.
Let’s hope they get some additional signage so everyone actually knows about it.

Great place for green organic smoothies right in the middle of yorkville. The service was great also, they made mini versions of the two smoothies we ordered for our son at no charge. We’ll definitely go back.

Hit this place last weekend. Not as easy to find as it is downstairs off of Yorkville Ave. The drink menu is a mixture of juices and smoothies. Many options to choose from and all very good.

Yay! A new cold press juicer in my area!
I walked in here on a Saturday morning, not really knowing what to expect in this busy Yorkville location. I usually juice at home, or get it from other nearby places, but once in a while I like to treat myself to something interesting!
The selection here is outstanding! They’ve got plenty of fresh fruit and veg to choose from, and you can add health-​conscious extras.
I ended up buying the Watermelon, Eye Spy (carrots, lemons, and a bunch of other stuff I don’t remember), and the Chocolate Milk (cashews, maple syrup, dates, vanilla extract, cacao powder). The watermelon was just a pure watermelon juice, but there was something about it that I just didn’t like… they must’ve added some syrup that I didn’t know about. The chocolate milk is by far my favourite! It tastes like the healthy version of chocolate milk :)
The only reason I’m giving them 4 stars is because of the price. Be prepared to shell out close to $ 10 for the small bottle, which is 250ml.
All in all, a good place to visit once a month for a special healthy treat, but not viable for daily consumption :(

I decided to try this brand spankin new smoothie & juice bar because I heard so many good things about this place and I was really excited to see what they offered.
The place is easy to find, located on the lower floor on Yorkville Avenue. It’s more of a take out joint since the space inside is quite small with limited seating for you to wait while they make your smoothies. The staff is VERY new but I did not experience any issues cashing out or even just asking staff questions about what they put in the smoothie of your choice. I also found the staff were good at providing suggestions. Very nice and knowledgeable people over all.
They have a pretty big menu with various juice and smoothie choices. It says a lot about me that the item that appealed to me the most on the menu was on the KIDS MENU but today I decided to be an adult and stick to an adult smoothie. Because I have to grow up eventually.
I got the Blue Banana which consisted of Blue berries, bananas, soy milk, and whey protein (you can change the type of milk alternative and protein in your smoothie). I thought this beverage was VERY delicious. It had a perfect smooth texture and the taste of banana and blueberry was the perfect amount of sweet and tart. It was a great cold drink to have after a workout especially on a hot day.
The store also offers pre made juices and milks — although the day I went there wasn’t much stock. I am assuming it was because I went on a Stat Holiday and also they had just opened their doors. Be prepared to pay $ 8-​$ 13 for ready made juices as well as cashew milk /​cashew chocolate milk.
Smoothies run from $ 7 and up so it would not really be ideal for me to go here on a daily basis just because it is a little over my budget but definitely a good place to check out once in a while when craving a healthy snack. They also offer healthy bowls… and hopefully one day vegan cookies and brownies to grab on the go! Overall, pretty cool smoothie & juice bar. I will definitely come back again another day to try other flavours.
