I’ve had a bike tune-up at 5 different places in the west end, and this guy is the best by far. He’s very knowledgeable and helpful, and he did a great job of with the tune-ups. He’s very honest and will tell you not to waste money on something that isn’t really necessary. He helped me figure out why my fenders were getting ruined by the terrible bike lockers in my building, and then he customized the backs of my fenders to shorten them so that they no longer get bashed on the ground when my bike is locked up in my building.

I also recommend this shop. Lou is very straight up, gives you a cheaper and more expensive option and never tries to upsell. He’s often even tried to talk me out of spending money when he thought it wasn’t wise. Very reasonable, too. Sometimes I’m tempted to tell him to bump up his prices a bit b/c I want this shop to stick around. Obviously a guy who’s passionate and doing what he loves.

In the Junction and Bloor West hood, for buying and fixing bikes, this place rocks. It is a diamond in the rough though. The sign and shopfront are old-school. But it’s the service and quality of the work make it stand apart. Getting down to brass tacks, Louis is an old road bike racer. He’s straight up. And he does wheel rebuilds and tune-ups for a great price, with a fast turnaround time. What’s more are the bikes he’s selling. Not your average shiny rides. Instead you can see this place builds ‘em solid. Also, as noted before, he keeps Peanut the pug around. It’s this kind of eclectic community oriented businesses that give the Junction hood it’s unique feel.
