The Bark Bus Pet Care

I’m a new dog owner and I wanted to give my very hyper chocolate lab puppy the best start in life and that meant getting him a good dog walker who could make sure he got the right exercise with other dogs. I found out about Chris @ Bark Bus from a neighbour and he’s simply the best. He always communicates with me and I always feel comfortable talking to him about my questions and the ongoing training of my very goofy lab. I know Chris treats my fur child like a member of his family and that’s why I’m putting this review out here

This is my review of Chris and Bark Bus. (I’ll try to write a detailed review so people who are new to dog sitting have a good idea of what to expect.)

Home visits — numerous times
Away/​dog sitting — 2 times
Chris’s BarkBus is a great service and you will not be disappointed.
As for my experiences, first there was an initial visit and our dog spent a few hours at Chris’s place to make sure she got along with his dogs and other clients’ dogs. Dogs in heat are for obvious reasons not boardable at his place until they’re out of heat, but house visits are still okay.
After that, if you think you’ll need lots of housevisits you can give him a spare key and he can drop in whenever, appointments can be arranged by email or text. Just leave the payment on the table along with the necessary items such as treats or whatever and Chris comes in at the requested time, feeds, plays with and walks your dog, does whatever needs to be done during the 40 mins visit and leaves a report card letting you know about the visit. He’s very responsive on the email and texts so after the initial visit and key drop everything can just be organized by email if necessary.
He takes boarded dogs on pack walks in nature and gets them outside so they’re not just sitting around doing nothing, so this is great for the dogs. Conversely, you will find home visits are sometimes difficult to reserve on a last-​minute basis as he may be fully booked with dogs scheduled for a weekend outing. In most cases though I’ve had no issues calling him ahead of time and getting a Sat or Sun visit. He’s always flexible and once things are worked out he’s always punctual. When I couldn’t get the house visit and I was really in a jam I just gave him my dog for a day/​night instead and that worked out fine.
Prices are reasonable. They vary by dog size and length of stay, best to talk to Chris directly on that one, but I’ll say it’s very reasonable and the peace of mind of being able to go out all day knowing your dog is in good hands is well worth it. As other people have commented I would not hesitate to leave my dog with Chris as I know she’s in good company.

I thought that my very strong and easily excited but anxious dog might not be able to participate in group walks. Chris met with us and had her under calm control within moments and she participated in both a group walk and a group field trip in the same week.
More importantly, I could tell that Chris cared for her as much as I do and it felt like i was leaving her with family.
I am so happy to have found a place for my dog to get the exercise and socialization she needs that I can’t always provide myself. I know when she’s been on the Bark Bus she is coming home a happier dog than when she went. Thanks Chris!

I’ve seen Chris work with a number of dogs since he started his business and I’ve never seen someone more dedicated or caring. The dogs in his charge are well-​behaved and extremely happy. It’s clear that to me that Chris cares about the animals in his care more than the average person. I wouldn’t hesitate to have him care for any of my animals.
