The Art of Cheese

The owner, «Bill» is a goof. He LOVES to stir the pot with the various businesses on the retail stretch of Kingston Rd. I guess he must have a customer base of some sort, I will grant him that, but he is a slimy operator. I had some dealings with him a while back, he sold me some cheese of questionable quality & I confronted him about it. I was not impressed with his product and told him so. He grew heated and his language got pretty salty.
I stood my ground and asked him where he picked up his customer service skills. He sputtered and threw me out. Bum inna street. Smokin’ cigarettes. Anyway, I picked up my dignity and moved on thinking to myself how good that dish of revenge is going to taste once it gets cold.

This place should be called ”The Art of robbery” Don’t plan on walking out with 200 grams of cheese without the owner telling you how cheap you are. For example, here was my brief experience how the cheese pimp works his magic… ie; This is me– (WHOA!, easy there fella, not so much”) then his reply was (”DON’T BE SO CHEAP!, I WILL DECIDE HOW MUCH YOU WILL GET!!!” (laughing)
Besides this guys odd ball sense of humor I must say that his small selection of cheeses are good, how ever he will insist on cutting massive chunks off the wheel so be sure to be firm with him or you’ll be spending a fortune.
Compared to Global cheese in Kensigton market, I found his prices to be nearly double of that and mostly catering to the wealthy beaches community.
The grey owl and Beemsteer are my two favorites that he sells, but I think I will try to find it some where else.

He is happy to provide tastings and advice. Come here and try a range of cheesy delights. I’m enjoying our purchases with some amazing steak and a bottle of red!

This is a truly great cheese monger! He knows his product and always gives a sample. He is clearly passionate about the carefully selected cheeses he has on offer. The high quality and interesting flavour profiles always excite me upon entering.
Try the whisky cheese which is so smooth and has this subtle, but rising finish. The wild woman soft cheese is not to be missed, full of layered flavours and oh so creamy. I forgot the name of it, but there is the most unique, candy-​like blue cheese at the shop. It will blow your mind!

Love this place! The man behind the counter, who I think is the owner is genuinely friendly and very knowledgable. I got 2 great cheeses and will 100% be back again and again. Try the smoked cheddar.

Great variety of local and imported cheeses. They also have a selection of serving platters, cheese knives, cutting boards etc.
Amazing service too!

Wow! Talk about service! I went in here on a mission for their famous smoked applewood cheddar and I left having had a lesson on cheese! You can tell the owner has a passion for this business. As for the cheese itself — I was definitely not disappointed, delicious!

This place has a small selection of delicious, high quality, carefully chosen cheeses, and an owner who shows the same enthusiasm for it as the day this shop opened a few years ago.
As Roanna z. writes, he has cheeses from France and Italy, but also from Quebec and Ontario… specifically, we bought a great cheese from the Niagara region. The owner will tell you why it is the colour it is, and what breed of cow produced it.
He now also carries Uzel olives from Turkey.
This isn’t the place if you are in a hurry, because he takes all the time each customer needs, but usually there is only one person ahead of you, and it’s worth the wait. We’ve never been disappointed.

Upper Kingston road has some gems. The Art of Cheese is just one.
Owner Bill will tour you around France and Italy with his choice offerings. Sample before purchase, local dairy eaters delight in this small gourmet cheese shop. Also available are an assortment of Italian Olives and marinated Peppers. Delicious!
Great things to fill a gift basket with too.
