I’m not normally one to leave complaints as I don’t want to jeopardize anyone’s job or well-​being, but my experience was so bad, I had to post here.
**UPDATE**: I emailed T/C’s «info» email to complain about my experience, and received a postmaster delivery failure — as in their emails aren’t even existent. WTF.
**The Story**
3 weeks ago, I had one of my best haircuts ever at T/​C (shoutout to Oki). Yesterday, when I came back to get it cut with the same barber, I was told (the same day mind you) that he had left the company. In need of a haircut badly, I entrusted a woman who was working at the time (I forget her name, she was fairly young) to cut my hair.
Please keep in mind that I was paying $ 30+ for this haircut, and trusted that professional hair stylists were employed by T/​C. I asked for a simple low fade, with a scissor cut up top, emphasizing that I only wanted a quarter-​inch trim at the most
During my haircut the following happened:
The stylist struggled badly to blend the sides to the top, to the point that there were clumps and pockets of uneven hair and a lack of blend when she showed me the «finished» look
She missed spots when clippering through my hair, and seemed to struggle with the use of clippers in general
She was rushing through the haircut and making really fast movements, missing portions of hair pockets while clippering
She did not trim my sideburns in any way — I had to go home and do that myself
She scraped my ear with the clipper, something that has not happened to me in any hair salon ever
She didn’t seem to understand what a blend was or how to do it.
Frustrated by the hair looking terrible, I was guiding her to fix it and blend properly. Eventually, a nearby stylist (more senior) had to come over and fix the cut.
Unfortunately, because the hair was already uneven, even fixing it meant it was too short and nothing like what I had asked for
To add to my frustration, the following then happened:
At the cash, she charged me for a full haircut with wash and style even though she did not wash my hair in anyway. I had to notify her that I did not get a wash and wouldn’t be paying $ 39.90 like she charged me. She adjusted the price, but it was really annoying to have to point it out to her.
I had a $ 10 coupon that I had received from the previous time I was at T/​C. I gave it to her, and she told me she can’t accept it as it was for another barber and not her.
I am beyond frustrated by this experience. In addition to receiving possibly the worst, most uneven haircut that paid $ 35+ for (!!!) from a professional stlylist, I can assure you that I’ll never be coming back to T/​C again.

Leanne cut my hair. She knows that she is doing and has been doing men’s and women’s hair in Salons in Ottawa for decades. You get exactly what you ask for and she is fun to chat with. Nice people working with her too.

One of my worst experiences ever. There are far better places if you want to spend this kind of money in Downtown.
Bought 2 Groupons and also booked the 2 appointments. First appointment — she asked for additional money which was not part of any terms and conditions on Groupon. When I called in to re-​confirm my second appointment, they did not have it in their system. I tried to work out an alternate date and time and the only suitable time they were able to give was 3 weeks away that too for their screw up.
Never going here again!

Got my haircut from Petronela and it was awesome. She nailed every detail and even gave me great advice on the look I wanted. This is the first time in a long while that I’ve had such a precise and well-​serviced cut. I’ve finally found a barbershop that I would like to frequent!

Excellent hair styling by Stella. Highly recommended the pedicure is really good as well.

Great detailed cut, hot towel service, and overall good service. Would definitely recommend!

I’m in town for work and was visiting our office at 181 Bay St. It was time for a haircut and after reading the reviews decided on Taylor and Colt.
I walked in after work around 6pm without an appointment. The gentlemen at the first station was cutting someone’s hair, but took the time to greet me and called for the receptionist. I had a seat at the counter and waited about 5 minutes for the him to finish and I was next.
The haircut was exactly what I asked for. My normal stylist back home couldn’t have done any better. I was looking forward to the shampoo and a hot towel afterwards and wasn’t disappointed.
Price was C$ 40, which is about average for this area.
If I’m back here again and it’s time for a haircut, I wouldn’t think twice about going back.

Groupon offer is real — $ 20 — but misleading. It is not the ‘regular’ cut at a discount, but rather a discount cut. Service was friendly, but it does not regularly include a wash, and was 2x as fast as a normal cut for a similar price. All in all, a decent $ 20 haircut. Will likely visit elsewhere in the future, as discount is first-​time only.

I like many others it seems was suckered in with the groupon offer, and learned a great lesson, when it comes to haircuts you get exactly what you pay for.

I came here while visiting Toronto and it was a wonderful experience! When I first came in, the receptionist offered to hang my coat on the coatrack. My barber was a joyful guy who was great to talk to and good at cutting hair. On top of that, they also give you a mini side shave and a hair wash. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely come back next time.

I booked the special rate on groupon. I called in and she said I didn’t have to buy the groupon online as some people weren’t comfortable doing that and that I could pay that price in store which I thought was really smart and kind of her to offer.
I got there early and the receptionist was very friendly. I had a such a nice lady cut my hair she was very friendly and funny. Her daughter actually runs or owns that location they work side by side, her daughter actually cut my partners hair while I was getting mine done. The wash and scalp massage was amazing! she was very kind and did such a great job.
We both loved going here and will return for our next haircut.

Purchased 2 Groupon coupons. First visit, the sylist/​barber seemed indifferent and had quite the attitude for the first 15 mins. Then warmed up, but obviously had a problem to start. My min mask took a total of 2 mins. They ran out of time and said ‘can you come back for your eye brow wax’. Long story short — didn’t feel very special and didn’t even get the services I paid for.
Went to use the second coupon — sorry cant do it as its for new people only.
Hmm. ripped off twice. Don’t be fooled. There are many other dedicated mens salons/​barbers that want and appreciate your business within an easy 2 min walk.

I like the others bought the Groupon as I though it was a great deal for haircut and straight razor shave (not to be missed). I ended up with the Best haircut I’ve ever had and have been back 3 times since. Ask for Yvonne, she is the the best stylist/​hairdresser/​barber I’ve ever experienced. A great experience and a great haircut!

I got the $ 29 Groupon and thought that it was a great deal. The service was quick and friendly. Jenna gave me an excellent hair cut. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist. I don’t know that I’d pay full price, but it’s definitely worth trying if you get the Groupon.

Reservation was seamless and done via phone. The location is convenient as it is in the PATH and very close to Union Station.
Initial impression was nice as the setup is clean and I was asked whether I wanted to have tea or coffee.
Things went downhill after that. The person who cut my hair was annoying and kept trying to up sell with one offer after another. I prefer some quiet time when I am having my hair cut and was consistently disrupted from my reading with one personal story after another. They would have made up for it if the hair cut I got was better than my regular place but nope nothing special here. Another pitfall IMO was even though it specifically said that a wash dry is included as a part of my haircut I had to ask for it twice.
If you want to spend money in this range there are better options nearby in the PATH.
