Decadent. Absolutely decadent. For vegans and lactose intolerant, this is a go to spot in the city. Limited and rotating selection. I had the Pralines and Cream(coconut-based) and my hubs got the last of the seasonal Rudolph’s Shame(egg nog and bourbon). It wasn’t as sweet as we’d expected. The ice creams may be rich, but that means quality. I’d rather eat two teaspoons of this ice cream than a pint of pretty much anything else. Except I almost ate the entire container, it was good.

This is pretty awesome place that makes the Kensington Market even better for vegetarians! It’s not totally vegan, but what they have is excellent!

Ahh I wish I could give this place more stars. The popsicles are so cute, and the lady there was nice. But I find that the ice cream here tastes overly sweet(yes, I know, it’s ice cream so of course it’s sweet). Ice cream can be sweet without tasting too sweet. Tried some flavours and ended up going with the almond rocca and vegan pumpkin. They were ok, but probably wouldn’t get these flavours again. The pumpkin tasted a bit off to me, and the almond rocca was…(you guessed it) a bit too sweet for my liking. Anyways, I like the concept here and the vegan options. But for the prices($ 5 for a popsicle, $ 4 for a reg scoop), I’d rather go elsewhere for my ice cream cause there’s so many options that are cheaper and more delicious imo.

4.5÷5 — pretty damn awesome Sweet Olenka is one of my favorite spots when it comes to ice cream. I find that the top places all have their own uniqueness to it. For Sweet Olenka, it’s that their ice creams are RICH. I have(quite) the inner fat-kid, and I usually destroy ice cream. But for me, even one scoop of ice cream is a bit too much here. And then if you try the ice cream sandwich version? Whew — time for a food coma. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but it makes for a delicious treat.

Obsession. They have a vast assortment of ice cream, ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches. Everything is award winning, let me tell you. My friend had raspberry ice cream and she said it was very good. I went for a banana fudge ice cream bar. It was delicious. I’m going to come here often. The really award winning aspect is the different ice cream bars you can choose from. I want to go all Pokemon and catch ‘em all!

Heading to the market for some vegan ice cream on Labour Day we found Cosmic Treats closed, imagine. It was hot and humid the perfect day for ice cream. Lucky for me I spotted a sandwich board outside of Sweet Olenka’s advertising vegan ice cream. What a pleasant surprise. Located in a narrow slip of a store on Augusta the place is long, narrow and really dark. Décor is minimal but you come for the treats not to look. A selection of ice creams including a few vegan options. Once I heard Key Lime Pie ice cream, that was it for me. A coconut based ice cream with crunchy graham cracker bits was, heaven. Had to go back today for more. Look forward to discovering what other treats they offer.

Super good! Had the ice cream sandwich(smores I think) and while I was hesitant at first to see that it was a pre-made, let me tell you, this was not your standard klondike bar. It is a chewy cookie with ice cream packed inside, and then dipped in real milk chocolate, and freezing it really just makes it stick together better. Actually so, so good. Will be returning!

I’m not big on ice cream but I like to check new dessert places from time to time. I had been to Sweet Olenka’s once before when it first opened but never tried anything. This time I tried the apple toffee(I think) flavour, kids scoop for $ 3. It was as described — an apple pie with toffee chunks. Loved it! I like that they also have vegan options available. Will have to give those a try the next I stop by.

Tried the crunchy fennel ice cream. Which was a really amazing ice cream flavour(although I did get sick of crunching the candied fennel seeds towards the end). A regular scoop was $ 4 plus tax. I’m looking forward to going back to try a salted caramel ice cream bar.

I liked this place, nestled in the hustle and bustle of Kensington market. It is small and therefore hard to meet any sizeable number of friends but how many ice cream places do you know are large? Try the salted caramel ice cream, it was a big winner. They had a vegan version too, made with coconut milk, but the regular version was far better. My friends who had the ice cream sandwiches(half dipped in the chocolate by the way) were fans. Considering how small this place is there were a good number of flavours, including classic flavours and a few original creations. My only complaint? A sign on the door that cleat says«Interac» and then when you get to the counter they tell you that it’s cash only. My assumption is that if you say you take debit with the sticker on the door, you take debit. As someone who doesn’t usually have cash, I found that to be really annoying — even more so because the closest ATM is pretty far.

A sweet addition to Kensington, with another outlet in this expanding dynasty of ice cream shoppes. Sweet Olenka’s has taken over an awkward little nook easily overlooked when walking by it on Augusta. Good idea with the sidewalk sign and the overhead door swung wide open so you can walk right through it. Inside there are a couple tables with chairs to sit and eat your treats as there is no patio space out front. Further back there is a tall freezer full of ice cream sandwiches and sticks. And next to that is a freezer with rotating flavours of hard ice cream. Note there are vegan options available. Some of the flavours included Cherry Cola and Maple Bacon, yum! These people have created sensational ice cream flavours like ramen so you never know what you might find when visiting. On a cool May weekend to warm things up they had freshly fried apple fritters available so their depth of sweetness runs deep. They are planning some light snacks with sandwiches available in the upper section of this hidden little corner of the market so keep an eye on them.

I saw via FB that NOW magazine had wrote a piece saying Sweet Olenka’s had opened in KM. I’ve never heard of the place but my friend had and he said it was great ice cream. On my way home I decided to check it out! YUM! I bought the Cookies n’ Cream and the Salted Caramel soooo good! They just opened so cash only right now. $ 5⁄6 for the bars and then there’s all the other homemade ice creams you can buy by the scoop. I’ll be back to try the other flavours. Vegan options too!
