Beware! New owners and absolutely no expertise in sharpening skates. Just some guy throwing your skates on an old automated machine. Wouldn’t get a pencil sharpened there! I guess a better bet would be to go to National @ McCowan and 401. The experienced professional who used to run the shop at Don Montgomery arena a few years back is apparently working for Majer Hockey in the west end. I think his name was Greg or Craig. Good luck out there!

If you’re looking to get your skates sharpened in the east-end look no further than the guys at Sports Impressions. The difference between skating on a blade that has been sharpened by a knowledgeable craftsman versus a minimum-wage teenager at Canadian Tire is simply incredible. The fellow who sharpened our skates patiently answered all my questions and was just generally a very pleasant, friendly and courteous bloke. They also sell a bunch of hockey-related stuff. Prices looked decent. Don’t think they sell the actual skates though. Sports Impressions is located inside the Don Montgomery Community Centre right next to the Kennedy subway station. If you’re going there by car, note that you have to cross under Eglinton if you’re traveling west on Eglinton. Took me a little while to find the first time. Also, if you go there during the day, it looks like you may have to pay for parking.
