Speedy Motors

Do not go there for any work on your car. They tried to put a tire on a brand new rim and scratched the rim in 4 locations. I was watching them work and had to literally pull the wrench from the mechanic’s hand before he destroyed the tire as well. This is the most incompetent garage I have ever seen. Stay away!

Yeah, I also had a pretty brutal experience at this location. I’ve rented from U-​Haul in the past without incident, and I should say beforehand that the U-​Haul customer service rep I spoke to later on was VERY helpful in cleaning up Speedy Motors’ mess.
So the guy I had was super rude as well. I’d reserved a van for Saturday, from 9am-​9pm, but he informed me it wouldn’t be available past 2pm (as it was «subject to availability»). When I argued that that’s «not how a reservation works», he got pretty defensive. I kept arguing, but my girlfriend suggested we rent it for 2 12-​hour periods, since we were moving that day and needed a van. He mumbled some kind of affirmative, and we kept moving. He also told me that the moving dollies I’d reserved were similarly «subject to availability», and rented me an appliance cart instead. For me he also did no inspection of the vehicle.
Later that afternoon he called, demanding to know where the van was. I reminded him that we’d arranged for me to keep it for the full day. He remembered, agreed, and hung up. That night we dropped it off at 7:30pm, Saturday, in the lot, after closing.
2 days later, I received a bill for 3 days’ rental, plus an extra $ 17.45 charge. I called U-​Haul customer service, who reported that Speedy Motors had claimed I only returned the van on TUESDAY. They also couldn’t see any justification for the extra $ 17.45. They refunded me 2 days worth of rental, and apologized (which I appreciated, though I assured them that it was only Speedy Motors’ fault, not their’s). They again assured me that they’d opened a complaint file on this dealership.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RENT FROM SPEEDY MOTORS. IT WILL BE WORTH YOUR TIME TO GO THE EXTRA FEW BLOCKS TO LITERALLY ANY OTHER RENTAL PLACE.

You’re reading this and I’m a total stranger, but PLEASE pretend like this was written by your mother, your best friend, from the person you most admire in the world. I need you understand that you should NEVER RENT FROM HERE.
I rented a U-​Haul cargo van from this location and this was quite honestly the WORST customer service experience of my life. I really wish I had read the previous review before going there.
The van itself was fine (I was stuck and it was late otherwise I would have left) — no issues there — but the gentleman who claimed to be the owner is awful.
I’ve rented from U-​Hauls before (not this location) and had no issue.
This owner told me not to read the contract before signing because «You wouldn’t understand it.» The contract itself was missing parts of it because it had been printed terribly.
He didn’t do a walk around of the vehicle with me and balked when I wanted to do one myself.
Then he proceeded to make a series of sexist comments, telling me «I bet you’re unmarried. No man would want you.» and told me I needed love from a man — or «maybe you like women?»
He then started to rattle off that he was worth millions and I was worth nothing. It was ridiculous.
I don’t feel like this reflects on U-​Haul since I’ve rented from them in the past and had nothing but positive experiences. How this man is working as a representative of this company makes no sense to me. I cannot understand how it would even be possible.

DO NOT RENT A U-​HAUL FROM THIS LOCATION.
The customer service is HORRIBLE. The employee there worked sooo slowly that I believe he intentionally wanted to inconvenience us. They have a sign written at the front counter that reads «service is as good as you are»… like, wtf?
I spoke to one of U-​Hauls district managers about my experience at Speedy Motors. He said they were taking the matter seriously and assured me that this wasn’t the first complaint they had received about this location. I can only hope that U-​Haul will get rid of these jerks as one of their distributors and find some other place who will do it.
Do yourself a favour and DO NOT pick up your U-​Haul at this location. Honestly, you might have to go a bit further to pick it up, but in the end you’ll save time without having to deal with the slow idiots behind the counter.
