History

Established in 2015.

Sid’s Deli is a newly established deli in the downtown core of Toronto, which has a long history in the deli industry.

Doug & Elka Hibberd have named their newly opened deli after her father Sid Starkman. Sid Stakman was a part owner of Chicago 58 Foods Products and someone who was highly respected in the meat industry and the community. Chicago 58 Food Products was established in the 1920’s as a delicatessen/grocery store, then moved on to meat production and distribution.

With his father-in-laws tutelage Doug learned all he needed to know about the meat industry from picking good raw product to producing the finest deli meats. With his knowledge of the deli industry, Doug decided to combine it with and went on to learn the restaurant business.
