In September 2012, Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto opened its doors. The newly built hotel, which occupies the first 17 floors of 66-storey (214.5 metre) glass structure, is in the city’s downtown core at the pivotal intersection of University Avenue and Adelaide Street. Here, Canada’s largest financial district meets the country’s most vibrant entertainment core. Within a five-block radius of the hotel is the performance centre for the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada, the headquarters for Canada’s five major banks, consulates, sports venues, leading research hospitals, the city’s live theatre district and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) headquarters — making the hotel ideally suited to serve the business, entertainment and leisure markets.
