Saint James Hotel

The Saint James is a new-​ish no frills boutique style hotel located right downtown. There’s no gym, or spa or restaurant, but in exchange for the lack of amenities the pricing is fairly ok.
The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and the interiors and furnishings modern if not a little too sterile looking. The bed was über comfortable to sleep in, but hey gimme fluffy duvet bedding and I’m usually pretty stoked!
The floors are wood laminate, which look great, but unfortunately my neighbour kept wearing stilettos so all I could hear was this annoying click clacking plus the walls are kinda thin so I could hear someone’s kid crying from another room, and also the slamming of doors every so often… Fucking Awesome
The bathroom is small and utilitarian with a glass enclosed shower along with complimentary toiletries from Neutrogena. No bathrobes or slippers though which was something of a let down.
There’s ample closet space and the convenience of a fridge and a microwave along with a coffee maker to make your stay a little more homey. Wifi is also complimentary. The Saint James also allows pets to stay for a nominal fee of $ 15 dollars per night which is pretty damn good considering some hotels charge upwards of $ 125!!! **cough, cough Shangri la!**
As for location it’s pretty convenient with the Mega Loblaws and so many dining and entertainment options close by (Remingtons, anybody ?) Just be aware that the Saint James is situated right next to Covenant House and all the other charms and sketchiness that Yonge and Gerrard have to offer.
All-​in-​all if you need a simple chic place to stay sans amenities then the Saint James is somewhat of a good value, just pray your room isn’t booked next to some asshole (s) who unfittingly wears heels indoors, has a cranky kid or likes slamming doors. I give it 2.5 stars.
