Specialties
The curry paste at Royal Elephant is homemade and all of the spices are freshly ground by hand.
History
Established in 2014.
Aey has been at the helm of Royal Elephant since May 2014, when she took over the restaurant from its previous proprietor. Aey didn’t change the items listed on the menu, but did adopt a new approach to the way the dishes are prepared. Gone are the jarred curry sauces and preservative-laden, ketchup-based dishes we have come to expect of North American interpretations of Thai food. Today, the curry paste at Royal Elephant is homemade and all of the spices are freshly ground by hand. Aey knows that Thai food is popular and usually inexpensive in Canada, but she is determined to find success with her authentic cuisine based on fresh ingredients.
