It is funny that most reviews are «not recommended» on Unilocal for some reason. It is quite unfortunate as I thought the location was great and my massage was decent. However, I will not be a returning customer.
I purchased my voucher from DealFind for $ 39. It clearly states «no expiration date» and no other fine print states that after a certain date, you only get the face value of $ 39 and not the «deal».
I had forgotten about my voucher — It was for a 60 min back massage, 45 min holistic facial, 15 min wrap with reflexology hand massage ($ 190 value).
When I called, the lady was quite rude about it saying the deals have changed, and it is only valid for its face value (now worth only a 30 min massage). I reminded her that it says no expiration date, so as long as the company is in business, I should be able to redeem it for what the deal was for.
I’ve purchased many other deals, where it says clearly an expiry date, and beyond that date, only worth what you paid.
This is false advertising and bait and switch. DealFind should also not allow vendors to state no expiration date and who are not willing to honour that statement.

They were very polite but the service was rushed– so much that you’re not able to even enjoy the experience.
It was supposed to be 90 minutes but I was up and dressed at about 65 minutes– which is kind of brutal if you’re expecting the full hour and a half. No explanation was made by them either.
The service (back treatment and «facial») was alright. Again, nothing was really done long or well enough to really enjoy it BUT I can think of a million worse ways to spend a day. For the facial, especially– I was literally poked twice on the face and that was considered to be the extraction. I felt like they just lobbed cream and oil and cream and oil all over me time and time again with no real explanation of it all. Even with an hour (although I paid for 90 mins) that’s plenty of time to really get in there and work things.
There was also supposed to be an exfoliation of some sort either on the back or the face– but I don’t recall receiving this at all unless it was one of the many soft lotions or oils that was slathered on me.

Thsi place sucks!
1. Massage table has no holes for the face (when lying face down) — so you can not really breathe properly
2. The owner/​massage person did not really massaged me but just did a sort of touching. you can hardly feel the massage. I asked her to make it a bit harder (this is the first time ever I have to request to make it harder) and she told me that she has no energy and that is only so much she can do. (no wonder she was not skinny for a masseuse — since she hardly exerted any effort).
3. the massage was for 1 hr but she did it only for 30 minutes
4. she did not even massaged my arms
5. facial — it took long only for the think mask to set and I think she purposely took long time just so she can complete the 1 hr.
booking was for 60 minute massage and express organic facial — I got a touching of my body for 30 minutes, 15 minutes facial and 15 minutes mask to set. she was done in 60 minutes.
WILL NOT COME BACK EVEN FOR FREE!
ps. as I was going out she told her staff not to change all the items we used and just 1 item there needs to be changed — yikes!!!

. I have to say, I was actually very impressed. Tried a fair few spas and facial places around TO, this one was special.
The girls are lovely and they make you feel so welcomed. There is no hard sell on beauty products (those make me really tired). I bought another 3 packages instantly after my session.
I had a good relaxing citrus message with body wrap. I appreciate the paper towels, I think it is a great idea so that the oil remains on your body rather than being absorbed by linen towels. Facial was gentle and I loved the aromatherapy-​styled products.

I’d like to start off by saying that they were mostly professional, which is nice.
However, this is the first and last time I’ll go to Royal Beauty of Carmen since it was the strangest experience I’ve ever had.
I bought an online package deal and upon arrival, they said I can pay $ 3+ GST before or after my service, but they asked me 5 times so that meant that they really wanted it first because I might run away without doing so, but as customary I thought I’d pay when I tipped at the end.
Place is decorated like someone’s grandmother’s home from another era and since there were no customers the entire time that I was there, I swear they had purposely left a $ 20 bill to hint that I should give a big fat tip (on the lamp table covered in a red table cloth, which looks like a crystal ball should be long there), and there was strange new age voice visualization music playing. LOL
The spa table you lie on is covered in a fleece blanket, thinning towels, and paper roll (i.e. like at a doctor’s office).
When it was time to flip over to my front after my massage for my facial, the girl didn’t automatically cover my breasts up and accused me of being «shy» when I asked her to do so. I wasn’t covered up during the entire first half of my massage either like all the spas and places I’ve been to where they cover you up and only expose your body part that they’re working on.
The girl also left the room during my service to drink water and again while my facial mask was hardening.
I just found it to be a bit aggressive there and even though it’s a school you’d think that it would be modernized a tad bit.

I had a very different experience than the other reviewers — an excellent European facial, delivered efficienctly. There was very little chit-​chat about my skin (a trained esthetician can make her own observations) and no attempts to sell products, which meant that the full 45 minutes was spent on my facial, not on spa upselling. My skin looks and feels great, and I’ll definitely be back for another facial.
I also had a massage from an RMT, which was quite good, but I really didn’t like the paper sheets on the massage table.
The place is small, and is on the 4^th floor of a downtown commercial building, so definitely not your standard spa/​salon atmosphere, but it was cozy and friendly.

Worst spa experience ever. And probably the most strange as well. The woman wrapped my hands in Glad wrap and that was the ‘lavender wrap’. Weird.

Great facial! Carmen’s holistic approach and soft touch left me impressed. Definitely worth trying
