Renaissance Toronto Downtown Hotel

Really good place to see the Blue Jays game from your window’s room!
The views are amazing and the food at the restaurant is great!
I went to the pool and hot tub for like 3 hours and it was completely alone the whole time. Not even a lifeguard! Since I hate strangers looking at me while I swim or play in the pool, I felt really comfortable being the only one in that area.

GREAT location right by the water. The lobby was under construction but i heard no work the entire two weeks i was there. Hotel bar staff is friendly and he makes great drinks

I’ve stayed at the Renaissance Downtown a number of times and it’s a reasonable hotel. Very standard Renaissance — no surprises when you walk in the lobby or enter your room. The rooms are slightly larger than your standard downtown hotel and have decent sized flat screen TVs. The furniture is average, very typical for a Renaissance although it does have a comfortable work space.
Service at the Renaissance Downtown is good but not flawless. The check in process is easy and the front desk staff is quite helpful. And breakfast/​snacks in the lounge are good although the lounge seems to be spread out too far and not that many tables. If I had to knock it down a point, it would be for
— A lot of rooms are a hike from the elevators
— The hotel is attached to the ballpark, making game nights a very loud and raucous affair (with drunk fans screaming in the hotel hallways)
— Not many restaurants in that part of town, so you’ll have to walk a number of blocks
Otherwise, if you are working on the west end of downtown, the Renaissance is a decent hotel for business travelers.

This hotel was cool but nothing amazing. I chose this hotel since it was close to my client and to Union Station. I walked to the hotel from the train station. The signage is pretty clear if you know that you have to walk to Rogers Stadium.
The lobby is nice, nothing special. It was pretty easy checking in and navigating around. The restaurant is okay. I ate there a couple times, but that’s another review. Elevators are fast and you don’t have to wait too long for one.
The room was big but okay. No bad odors or anything, and the air conditioner worked really well. Don’t expect a fancy view or anything, I didn’t have one. I asked for a king but they only had doubles but they were comfortable. The couch was also nice to sit down and relax after a long day.
All in all, I like this hotel. I think I will try other hotels for the variety but this is one I will look toward for it’s location. There is a lot around the hotel and it’s close to all the important things I needed to get to.

I’ve stayed here before and it’s always been a great experience. It’s also really located at a central point to get around a lot of the downtown Toronto area. The room we had as huge, but in previous stays I’ve always been on the city view side. If there’s not a sporting event going on, the rooms facing indoors don’t offer much of a view. More importantly, with the roof closed, it was impossible to know what it was like outside and thinking it was still dark and sleeping in until 11am. Staff was excellent however. Valet parking was steep, but probably to be expected at most hotels in a big city.

We loved The Renaissance! Came in for a Blue Jays game and being able to walk to our room that’s connected to the ballpark is unbeatable. The staff, room and everything involved was all top notch. The only issue is the parking. The Rodgers Center owns the parking garage so even if you are a guest don’t assume you have a parking spot on game day. Arrive early. It’s not the Renaissance fault and believe me they feel our pain but not much can be done about it. Over all a great place, staff and town.

I travel a lot for work and this is by far one of my favorite hotels I get to stay at on the road.
I’ve been two times now and both times I’ve gotten, with no prompt or reason really, an upgrade to my room. I’ve felt so lucky!
The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean, and the amenities a plenty. And they have bedside chocolates — mmmm!
It’s attached to the Blue Jays stadium which may make for some crowded lobbies but it also livens the place up. It’s a close walk to the CN tower, the harbourfront and plenty of restaurants on King Street. It’s a great place to stay in T Dot!

Amazing room so spacious!, amazing service, and amazing amenities. Probably one of the best rooms we have ever stayed at downtown. Was a very nice city view from our room. Definitely would come back.

As a baseball fan, this hotel is top-​notch. I was able to enjoy a Blue Jays game from the comfort of my dinner table and see what goes on after the game from a hotel room window. In addition to its proximity to Rogers Centre, the hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants, and very close to the new UP Union Station. Shopping is also nearby.
Though some amenities are dated, the room was spacious and very clean. The hotel staff was attentive and friendly. If you’re looking for entertainment, restaurants, or even a flight, the concierge Monica is your gal. She was able to get me a dinner reservation at the CN Tower on a busy Friday night.
All in all, I had an excellent experience here and would definitely recommend it!

My family had a fantastic stay here, and we managed to get an amazing Priceline deal for about $ 90/​night for all four of us (maybe because it was off season?). The Renaissance is also located right next door to the CN Tower, which seems to be an essential stop for tourists. We had a 2-​bed room that was sufficiently spacious and had a very clean bathroom. Aveda-​branded toiletries, as opposed to obscure random hotel brands, were provided. Beds were also very comfortable.
Service is also excellent. Everyone we interacted with was very polite and professional, and during our stay we requested a microwave and plate/​silverware to eat some delicious leftovers from a restaurant we visited. Both were provided promptly.
Our room was located next to train tracks, but personally it did not disrupt me or any members of my family.

Customer service is on point! The concierge and bellmen and desk staff have all been amazing. Du Juan gave us great info on where to go and what to see around the city and was extremely friendly while doing so. The location is great and right next to every thing, it’s literally connected to the Blue Jays stadium. It’s also next to the CN Tower and the aquarium. Both completely worth visiting. I’ll definitely be staying here again and I’d recommend it to a friend as well.

Consistently one of my favorite hotel locations and staff while travelling abroad. Ms. Annie (front desk) and Mr. Tatiana (Concierge) go the extra mile to ensure travelers of both professional and personal itineraries are well taken care of.
The venue offers the usual Marriott family refinements with an emphasis on the calibre of the physical readiness center and the Club Lounge.
Rooms are modern and spacious and everything the downtown Toronto area offers is easily within a 10 min walk from the front lobby.

We had a wonderful experience here. Incredibly well-​priced in the off-​season, the rooms were surprisingly lovely with a great view of the city for less than 140 bucks/​night. Our concierge was incredibly helpful to us, being aimless tourists, and even upgraded our room to a double double bed room just to be accommodating. While lacking in amenities like free wifi, breakfast, or any form of pool, it’s centrally located, offered us great service, and did it all for a great price.
(Pro tip: they don’t have wifi at all, just paid wired internet, so no using your phone.)

Best hotel experience thus far! I’ve traveled all around the world and I will say that I had the best experience while visiting Toronto because of the Renaissance hotel. The staff was amazing, Annie the manager was accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. There were other staff members there like Du Juan that went above and beyond to ensure that I had everything that I needed. The bartender in the restaurant Brian was great and we spoke for hours. There were also two others that I forgot there names but made a huge contribution and are great assets to the hotel as well. Overall, the best hotel experience that I’ve had and will be staying here again because of the people, atmosphere, professionalism and location of this amazing hotel.

Great hotel, another gem of the Marriott/​Renaissance brand.
Best feature? It’s connected to Rogers Stadium so you can walk downstairs and enter to watch a Jay’s game.
Don’t have a ticket? Stake out a window seat at the lounge and watch the game from the skybox view. Didn’t know that existed or I might have just order copious amounts of beer and poutine and enjoyed the game even more!

— Got a connected room with a king bed in the interior, and a pull-​out sofa bed on the exterior. Bathroom was roomy enough for four girls to do their makeup at once haha, our suite stayed very toasty the whole time and the windows were huge :)

A $ 10 cab away from Easy and the other clubs in the area. Sadly walking from Union Station was a searing cold trek that can’t be avoided. cost was $ 350/​night for this room, not bad when you split it

My friends and I booked a suite here on a Saturday night, for a price of $ 350 — not cheap! I have the say the location of the hotel is pretty good, since it is right beside the Roger’s Centre. That being said, if you plan on spending your time in the Entertainment District (as my friends and I did) then I would recommend booking a different hotel slightly further north — cab fare to the club district is $ 10.
I have to say I was underwhelmed with the suite. It was not that big and was basically just two interconnecting rooms (one bedroom + one den) with a bathroom. I have previously stayed in a suite at the Residence Inn, which is also a Marriott hotel and found that one to be much, much nicer. Especially given the price we paid, I was displeased to find that there was no free wifi (Really? What hotel charges for wifi these days?) and that it was $ 12/​day for wifi. Also there was no breakfast buffet, which they had at the other hotel. The layout of the floor also was a bit annoying, although I suppose it was just bad luck that we got a room far away from the elevators — the path to get to the room was long and winding with lots of turns… I was slightly concerned at how we would be able to get out quickly if there was ever a fire…
The service was pretty good though. We called the front desk and asked for extra blankets at around 3 AM and two big staff members came up and brought them to us (it took a little longer than I would have liked, but that’s okay). They also helped us to set up our sofa bed since we were struggling, so I appreciated that.
Overall though I do think you can get a better hotel experience at a comparable price at many other places in the city, so wouldn’t recommend staying here above any other places.

Renaissance hotels are not as prevelant as Marriott hotels, but they are a great part of the Marriott brand. They tend to feature a more modern as well as more local look and feel than Marriotts. This Renaissance really integrates well with Downtown Toronto. The hotel is actually built into the Rogers Centre (where the Blue Jays play). The restaurant lounge provides an interior view of the stadium; it is like being in a luxury box. You can even watch a Blue Jays game from some hotel rooms.
There are other great aspects of this Renaissance’s location. Toronto’s iconic CN Tower is next door and it is a quick walk to get to the lakeshore. Many popular lounges and restaurants like Momofuku are also within walking distance.
My room also featured a really comfortable bed as well as contemporary furniture. The room also had a pleasant room temperature and even Marvel legend Stan Lee was staying here and had breakfast in the quiet restaurant. He was discussing the origins of Spider-​Man with fans (Stan Lee was staying at this hotel for a Comic Con-​like event in the convention center next door).
Unfortunately, there were several areas where this Renaissance fell short. While the room was comfortable, it was a tad empty and too spacious. There could have been more furniture or more dressers because there was a lot of open space in the room. The bathroom was clean, but I felt it was not in the best shape. There were just parts here and there like the drain and the handles that needed to be updated. The shower also lacked elevated dishes and stands to hold shampoo, conditioner, soap, and such. In addition, while this did not bother me that much, the water pressure was a tad on the low side.
The other negative was that the service was not up to Marriott’s high standards. While most of the staff was pleasant, service seemed disorganized, unknowledgeable and lacking in urgency. The front desk wrote down the wrong rate on my key card packet, which made me return to the front desk to confirm that I was not going to be charged too much. The front desk also informed me that the Concierge Lounge (for Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum members) was open on Sunday night and Monday morning, but it turned out neither was true due to the Labor Day holiday.
This Renaissance did provide complimentary breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant (breakfast buffet) – breakfast 7 days a week is a benefit available to Gold and Platinum members. Unfortunately, it took forever for the server to come over to take my drink order on one of the days. In addition, the quality was just not there. On the surface, the breakfast buffet looked like it offered a great variety. The buffet consisted of many cereals in glass dispensers, sliced fruit, whole fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, danishes, bagels, English muffins, breads, banana bread, a quiche-​like egg dish with onions, mushrooms and peppers on top, bacon, French toast, sausages, home fries, and an omelet station. Unfortunately, the food was just not that good.
The cereal was a tad stale and the eggs were bland and horribly discolored one day. The sausages had a dry and almost beef jerky-​like texture. The bacon could have been crispier, but it was not too bad. The bacon was a tad salty though. The omelet station had a lot of ability to customize. The station included bacon, ham, onions, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, spinach, and cheese. The cook did a nice job and the fillings were not bad, but the omelet did not have a great color. It looked like the kitchen almost used egg whites since the omelet lacked the great color and fluffiness of a good omelet.
In addition to the lackluster breakfast, service at the valet stand was not that great. Upon arriving, no valet was waiting outside so I had to go inside to get someone. In addition, I felt it took a little bit too long to get my vehicle back despite only a small crowd at the valet area when I departed.
Another negative while staying at this hotel was that someone pulled the fire alarm at 4 a.m. While you cannot really blame the hotel for this, maybe this hotel’s central location draws a lively and partying hard crowd.
Room rates are high though you can save a little bit of money if you plan ahead.
This Renaissance has some pluses and is a good hotel for a Downtown Toronto stay. Unfortunately, I think you will find it underwhelming in parts if you are very familiar with the Marriott brand. Still, if you can get a good rate here, this Renaissance is a good choice because of its great location and comfortable rooms.
Valet parking is available at $ 35/​night.

I’m loving this place. Came here for the Opening Weekend with the Jays and Yanks 2014 season.
The room is huge and comfortable. The bedding are the best I’ve ever had on the road. Oh so comfortable. I’ve never slept better away from home.
But the best is being able to sit in the bar /​coffee shop /​restaurant and see the entire Rogers Center ballpark. It’s a joy to watch batting practice while having breakfast or lunch. You can sit here for the entire game if you wish, as long as you order a meal. And the staff is so accommodating. It’s become one of my favorite places to stay. I will return!
