I finally made it here in spite of the fact this location is even closer to me than Whole Foods, and I was surprised by some of the prices. I was expecting everything to be super expensive, but some items(like avocados for 99 cents) seem pretty reasonable. it’s not super fancy, but this place carries a lot of stock and they have healthy options if you’re looking for a meal on the go. I’m glad it’s an option in my neighborhood.

This is the neighborhood savior for when you’re missing a few ingredients for your dindin, so however expensive it may be operating under the 24⁄7 convenience charge, this smaller location does have weekly sales worth keeping up with. Juice, eggs, milk, chips and ice-cream to name a few reasons for visitation. They’ve got hot food served like chicken, potatoes and pasta and salad n sushi to go but lacks the quality and consistency with their portions. On the upside, they sell La Rocca cakes but watch out for the expiry dates. Altogether the location is what it needs to survive and I’m sure even with Whole foods newly opened 5 mins away, Rabba has its own lineup of devotees who kill two errands walking the dog and finishing off the night with a lotto ticket and a bottled Starbucks.

I’d like to offer an updated review on this Rabba location… After huffing and puffing about my experience here, I actually had the opportunity to confront the owner of this location in person. He was extremely apologetic for the experience I had, and offered to credit me however I preferred to make up for it. He explained that unfortunately he has a number of teen employees who sometimes overlook expiry dates on products, and that from now on he will ensure management takes more care in assessing product dates. I am satisfied with the communication that went on between myself and the store owner, and am now willing to continue shopping at this location.

With the Metro at Yonge & Sheppard demolished to eventually make way for a Whole Foods, this is my closest place for groceries. Rabba has always been pretty good for providing almost anything you could want in a large grocery store but in a smaller store. The regular prices are a bit more than what you’d pay at the larger chains but definitely less than convenience stores like Mac’s or Hasty Market. Produce, meats and breads are pretty fresh and they do have a prepare food counter. I find this part hit or miss but if you’re in a bind and want something other than a slice of pizza from Pizza Nova in the same plaza, this usually will do. Every other week, Rabba does have a flyer for their sales for the week and this is where the prices rival the larger chains. They usually are able to keep enough stock on their sale items so no one can accuse them of a bait and switch. I do find the most popular sale item to be yogurt and sometimes, the only flavours left are plain or cappuccino but they do restock at various times during the week. The best part of this place is that they are a 24/7, 7 days a week establishment which includes holidays. It’s nice to have one these in the neighbourhood. One warning, parking is very limited and I find that usually 2 or 3 spaces are close for some kind of repairs. There is also one spot dedicated for handicapped parking. As well, there is also an entrance to residence parking for 2 condos in the same area. If you can walk over, that might be best. They do charge for $ 0.05 for plastic bags.

I decided to edit my review today, bumping this Rabba’s rating from 2 to 3 stars, since the last couple times I’ve been in the store, the staff has been friendlier(or at least not unfriendly) and they have actually had a couple okay sales lately. It’s still pretty small and generally overpriced though. There is a Whole Foods eventually being built up the street, but until then, this is the most convenient place nearby for me if say I’m cooking and suddenly realize I need a ____.

I like this little community shopping hub which carries almost every cooking essential, including fresh salmon, vegetables, and a pretty well-stocked bakery/deli. Some(not all) of the cashier staff are super-nice. I always think this Rabba was a great addition to the Yonge Sheppard area.

This Rabba is ok, but watch out for the prepared foods. I only had the Falafel, but it was dry and chunky. The Pita wasn’t anywhere close to being full and the Humus was not smooth at all. I’d just go here for the packaged foods.

This Rabba is smaller than many others, but it’s well laid out and features decently priced produce, meat and ready-to-go products. Situated in the Harrison Garden condo pocket on the southeast corner of Yonge and Avondale, the store is open 24 hours and has a bank machine. It’s a clean, handy shop for anyone who lives in this condo village, or as a back-up store for when Metro or Loblaws are closed for the holidays.
