Pet Valu

I was in the area I had to buy cat food and a new dog harness my dog is supper small so get thing the right size is difficult and making sure it’s comfortable is key. I bought the stuff went home only to find out my dog didn’t like the harness going over his head, my wife was cleaning and through out the bag the stuff came in shitty but I paid by credit so there’s proof of this transaction it was only 2 days since the clerk seen me told me she didn’t remember me but she was the very person who rang me out also was looking for very small sweaters, I pleaded that I can show proof and she said it was store policy and tried to show me a sign that wasn’t wasn’t even posted in front of cash, very rude attitude from the her and the store manager mind you I live on the other side of town they had to give me a gift card. I wouldn’t go back there not my kind of store to be rude to customers who will add reviews on them I can understand if I didn’t pay by credit. That’s my take on that

Really helpful and kind staff here, (unlike PetSmart which is like Home Depot for dogs) and they are always kind to my dogs when I bring them in!
They have a dog wash that is a bit pricey for do it yourself but the setup is really well designed and easy to use, unlike the cheap do it yourself dog washes you can find at car wash places line Shiny Time. You get what you pay for.
The store layout is easy to navigate and this location offers Big Country Raw. If you want to feed your dog raw food it’s a great product but not all Pet Valu stores carry it but this one does.
This place is definitely for the dogs… In a good way!

I just had a special visit at this location.
I just adopted a rescue doberman, and today was the day I was going to go get him a nice new winter jacket (he’s a skinny little guy!) and booties.
The staff were so helpful and caring. they let me blab on about my new doberboy, and gave him lots of head rubs and treats. It also made my time fitting him for a new jacket easy. the one employee helped me pull sizes of jackets which made things a bit easier. Getting a jacket on a big dog isn’t exactly easy! They had a large selection of big dog jackets and vests — this is a rarity in most pet supply stores.
The other employee talked to me about LED balls for awhile.
It was just one of those shopping trips that made me feel so good and happy. It’s so nice to have strangers excited for your new canine addition.

Flagship couture superstore of chain pet stores! It makes me wish I were a cat and could just nap on their fancy soft beds all day long and take a daily weave through their cat trees.
Great selection of food, accessories, grooming tools, beds, and other things. Plus points that they’ve finally stocked Feliway which has been limited in Canada so far. Staff are very friendly — it seems that they have many staff sometimes and very few at other times, yet I have never had an issue having my questions answered or receiving service. The store kinda models the dog and cat divide with half dedicated to dogs and the other half to cats, but encourages coexistence in a happy cohesive calming store.
Likely it comes with the location of the store in the St Lawrence market area, but the only minus point is that prices are often a bit higher than other pet stores! (I was shocked and disappointed when I found a laser pointer for my cat in the dollar store next door with an array of switchable tip covers with fancy shapes!)
Pet Valu also has a great website that redeem resembles the physical store itself, which is an added helpful bonus. I’ve also come across some pretty wicked sales online as well.

If I were a dog this Pet Vau location would be my favourite place to pick up goods in all of Toronto. If I was a dog I’d also be a red French Bulldog and I would be fucking adorable and my name would be Vivi. This is a rant for another time.
This location is large and luxurious and goes beyond food, treats and necessities. At the cash register they were giving away free puppy treats that looked like sushi and were made of salmon jerky.
Their doggy fashion section essentially looks like an H&M for dogs. Everything you can think of in every size and colour, though I think it’s actually *slightly* more expensive than H&M. To be fair, people who spoil their dogs spoiiiil them, so you might as well mark those items up. That’s just a good business plan.
The staff is knowledgeable and kind, and helped me find the perfect snacks for my God Daughter Berkeley, and even gave me some free samples. Both Berk and I love samples.
PEPPER PAW POUNDS.

So… my dogs are not overly toy motivated but I went to St. L Pet Valu recently and purchased the most amazing tug toy. It has sheepskin, rabbit fur, a (relatively) indestructible ball, AND a long bungee handle. This thing is amazing. Dogs go absolutely ballistic over it and can’t get enough.
Leave it to the owner (Caida) and her fantastic staff to bring in the products that we dog-​lovers will absolutely adore. Not only that, but the selection of food and food toys (like Nina Ottosson) is astounding.
It’s nice to go to a pet store where the staff is knowledgable and the products are humane. You’ll notice that they don’t promote/​push shock collars, prong and choke collars and other torture devices. They have a focus on dog-​safe tools and equipment and are quick to recommend highly effective products.
There’s a great vibe about this place. Definitely one of the best pet stores in Toronto. Plus, it’s gorgeous in there! I love the new Pet Valu look! I can’t wait to bring Parker in there for a bath when the soggy weather gets… soggier. The facilities are clean and spacious.

I went in to Pet Valu to get my dog washed and as always the agressive little Schnauzer belonging to the store owner came barking uncontrollably at my French Bulldog. When I told the owner that her dog is displaying agressive behaviour and she needs to control her dog — she responds by saying «oh she means nothing by it». Sure enough just as she finishes her sentence her dog jumps on top on my dog in attack mode and almost bites his neck. I then said «is this what you call «acceptable behaviour»? I was really upset and told her that this is unacceptable and a paying customer should never have to put up with this. She responds by saying «I’m sorry it’s not agressive behaviour and I’m working on it». She is still arguing with the customer after watching her dog attack my dog and in defence says she’s working on her dog’s behaviour.
I told her that being a place of business is not the environment for her to be training her dog and that her dog should either be on a leash and controlled at all times or have a muzzle on to prevent any bites and bad situations.
I would not recommend this as a safe place of business if you are looking for a good or responsible dog store. Quite disgusted in owner’s behaviour and cannot believe she owns a dog store and would allow this behaviour in this type of business.

This is one of our local pet stores. The staff here are wonderful and they have an excellent selection of anything you’d need. The other thing that is great is that they have a little self wash doggy wash.
