Salad, pizza, pasta, grilled meats and fish, house made desserts. Extensive wine list.

History

Established in 1989.

Paese [paeze] means «town or village» and for us this symbolizes neighborhood. Paese opened over 25 years ago and has stayed true to a handcrafted and housemade approach to a menu that’s Italian-inspired, with a distinctive and original made-in-Canada twist. The multi-region wine list is not only a wine lover’s dream but is reasonably priced for all to appreciate.

Meet the Business Owner

Tony L.

Business Owner

Tony Loschiavo was 3 years old when he moved to Canada from Southern Italy in 1965. Tony’s mother, Nazzarena, brought with her tomato seeds and dried beans for a garden that she would plant in her new country, little did she know that these seeds would later translate into Paese’s food philosophy of «Inspired in Italy, Made in Canada». Tony grew up with a passion for food and its preparation. In 1983, he founded L-eat Catering and in 1989 opened Paese, an Italian restaurant in Toronto. To this day he balances the responsibilities of L-eat and his restaurants, including helping to manage Paese’s substantial wine cellars. He also owns a small farm which helps supply some of the fresh herbs and vegetables used by the Paese chefs. With his life-long passion for entertaining, Tony understands the benefits of good hospitality, whether at his restaurant, or at a client’s offsite event. He enjoys making guests and clients feel welcome and at ease.
