I LOOOOOVE OMG BAKED GOODNESS!!! At the start of summer I made a list of bakeries in Toronto (specifically ones that sell cupcakes because I was on a mission to find the best strawberry cupcake (and best cupcake in general) in Toronto. The first time I went to OMG Baked Goodness they didn’t have strawberry, but that was okay. I had a lemon cupcake. OH. MY. GOD. IT WAS THE BEST CUPCAKE I HAD EVER EATEN!!! I knew from the first bite that I had found a place that sells the type of desserts I am looking for! I have been a regular customer ever since. I get something different every time. I definitely make a point of going there around any holidays to see what new treats they have. Everything they have is divine. Their cupcakes are creative. Their cupcakes are actually the flavours they say they are. Usually if you go somewhere and order a cupcake (strawberry for example) only the icing is actually flavoured instead of the actual cake. Not here. Their cakes often have fruit or other filling in them. They don’t skimp on toppings. The staff members are also friendly and they always wash their hands at the sink located right near the glass case before getting you your goods.

Everything I’ve eaten from OMG is delicious! I absolutely love their chocolate vegan cupcakes; they are always moist, fresh, and really tasty. They offer these cupcakes in mini size, which is great to bring to parties (where they are always a hit). The turnovers are another one of my favourites. The selection is great and quite varied. They offer vegan and gluten free options, and seasonal/​holiday themed goodies, like homemade peanut butter eggs for Easter. They have their staple items but always have new and fun options to try. The staff is friendly and helpful. I’ve also done some special orders with them and everything went smoothly. The space feels a bit empty and oddly arranged, and there is nowhere to sit inside, but it is always clean.

I bought a bunch of mini cheesecakes for my girlfriend’s birthday. The clerk packed all of them into one giant box. I had to transport them on the streetcar. I politely asked the clerk to put them in individual boxes so they don’t slide around. Her eyes popped out of her head.
«You want me to REPACK them?!»
Yes, it was my fault for asking you to flying to the moon to get those boxes.
I don’t understand how someone working in a bakery could be so cranky. You’re surrounded by cupcakes for ****s sake! Don’t work the counter if you don’t know how to provide friendly service. This is one of countless bakeries in Toronto. You cannot afford to be rude to any patron.

My wife recently picked up cupcakes here for a party we were having. She didn’t tell me or the kids they were vegan. They were great! I’m not normally a big sweets lover, but I really enjoyed them!

OMG cupcakes were such a hit at my son’s birthday party! The vegan options are as delicious as non-​vegan and they’re still fresh and yummy two days later! (I ordered too many — a happy mistake!) I will be looking for reasons to sample more of their baked goodness soon.

I had their Easter themed cupcakes today: Crème egg, pink crushed velvet and also tried the peanut butter and jelly flavour for good measure.
Sad to say all three were stale and disappointing. I didn’t finish any of them and threw away the leftovers (very unlike me! I’m a sucker for cupcakes).
Hard to tell over the staleness but even if the cupcakes were fresh I think the cake part would have still lacked flavour.
The pink crushed velvet was too sweet, the jelly in the middle of the P&J cupcake tasted generic and Crème egg was mostly fluffer goo.

I’ve been coming here for a long time and it’s still the one.
Lesley and her girls put their heart and soul into making delicious and savoury treats for you — and it shows. They’re also the nicest people!
I’ve hired them for both personal and professional events and they always come through (even made me a life sized gingerbread man).

I can’t believe no one else has posted about their focaccia. It’s the BEST. Just be careful — because it’s very easy to finish in one sitting.
The butter tarts also rule.
Have always gotten great service.
Go get some focaccia! (But save some for me)

Though me and OMG might have different views on what «Bird Ready» means when it comes to stuffing, I do recognize them as the best bakery in town. I’ve happily hired them when I need sweets, and I steadfastly recommend them to anyone who will listen.

I want to marry their spinach and feta turnovers, and keep their apple cupcakes as my dirty mistress. I’m constantly in awe of their holiday-​appropriate, changing menus. OMG they are doing it right.
PEPPER PROPS: On their latest venture. I hear rumors they’re going to be bunning the burgers at Wall Burger, and I can’t wait to take a bite.
*I hate chopping onions. Suuuch a cry baby over here.

Bought a vegan chocolate, banana chocolate chip, and red velvet cupcake to sample with friends. I thought they were all bland, dry, and crumbly. Friends also weren’t impressed .
If people really like the cupcakes here, maybe ours were stale. But if that was the case, then I shouldn’t have been sold stale cupcakes.
Don’t waste your money.

I ordered a custom cake for my boyfriend’s birthday party last year. I was reminded of this fiasco whilst driving down Dundas St past OMG last week.
I contacted Lesley to see about getting a custom cake of a Zombie nature for my boyfriend as he loves all things Zombie. I didn’t have many specific requests and wanted to let them have creative reign. I DID, however, specifically request that the cake be a red velvet, to mimic blood upon cutting into it.
I gave her a $ 100 budget for a cake designed to serve 8 ppl. I picked up the cake and took a quick glance at their work to find that they had done an old school Zombie head with a bullet hole in it and blood leaking out. Super cool, I thought, and made my way home to finish off food for the party.
Now, I am not arguing the quality or flavour of their cake. It was good. But when we cut the cake open, it was PINKISH BLUE– not red. I was completely embarrassed as I had told a few friends in attendance that it would be red velvet and I was so excited about the effect it would have against the grey icing. It also sucks to have others see that you didn’t get what you paid for on a special occasion. To the best of my knowledge «Red Velvet» is a chocolate flavoured cake– flavoured with cocoa and made bright red, for effect, with red food colouring… Right?

Just wanted to touch base regarding the cake I purchased for my boyfriend’s birthday party. It was very tasty, and we enjoyed it… but it was not a red velvet cake. I was a little embarrassed because I had told everyone that we’d be cutting into a red velvet cake and the colour of it was not red. It didn’t really even look like chocolate. Did something go wrong??? I paid $ 100 for the cake and I really expected it to be perfect.

Hi Jennifer,
I;m sorry that you were disappointed with the fact that it wasn’t red.
Cake was in fact red velvet, we just choose to ‘colour’ it with raspberry jam and cranberry juice rather than food colouring as is common with most red velvet.
True Southern Red Velvet will not have a rich chocolaty flavor, but will have a slight hint of chocolate. We make this red velvet all the time and people seem very much to appreciate that it is not artifically coloured or flavoured.
We absolutely could have made you a chocolate cake but you requested red velvet and that is exactly what we made you, minus the food colouring and the cream cheese icing that is typical with red velvet cake. We are not able to do the kind of decorating that you requested with cream cheese icing.
I appreciate very much that you wanted it to be perfect, both Cal and I spent a lot of time consulting and decorating this cake which is where the additional cost is incurred.

Totally weak. Basically admitted that they were never able to do the order in the first place, but took my $ 100 anyway without even offering me a free cupcake or anything. And I’m not sure what this «natural colouring» thing is, because all the cupcakes on their website were of varying flourescent shades of blue, pink and yellow.
A bad experience on all fronts, which is sad because they cake was actually very tasty. Had they been willing to own up to the error or offer some better customer service incentives, I would have been happy to forget it all and still send some business their way.
OMG Badly Baked Customer Service and Communication

Few years ago Blue Banana used to have a café with amazing vegan chocolate cupcakes. We were surprised that on our return visit that the café was no longer there and we didn’t know the name of the baker of those delicious cupcakes. Sufficie to say that all we knew was that it was a person who was baking in a rented kitchen and that was all.
We found out OMG is the same baker of those delicious cupcakes… We high tailed over there today but sadly, they aren’t quite the same from what we remembered.
First off, we distinctively remember the cupcakes at BB were HUGE with generous frosting. But, our cupcakes today were normal sized, not the massive ones we remember from before.
I had the red velvet, it was light but I didn’t taste red velvet or a distinct taste. I also saw that the red coloring or powder wasn’t mixed enough because there was a part that was yellowish (butter perhaps or just cake batter). It lacked the flavour of a dlish red velvet, but also didn’t crumble as easily as a dlish cupcake (which I like).
I may make a special trip to try out the cupcakes again one more time before I make my final decision about this place.

I popped in with my kids this past weekend. I purchased a mini and large vanilla cupcake, a mini chocolate cupcake, a chocolate-​swirl brownie, a vegan chocolate cupcake, and a crumble (apple) pie. (I was sampling for a possible birthday order.)
The mini vanilla and chocolate (and I don’t even like chocolate) cupcakes were tasty. The cake portion was fresh and moist and the frosting was sweet.
The crumble pie was so good (although messy b/​c of the melting sugars). I think it would have been heavenly had it been warmed a bit.
Hubby loves chocolate but did not like the chocolate vegan cupcake. He gave it a 5 out of 10 before I told him it was vegan. Then he said, «no wonder».
I was ready to make a birthday order but I was disappointed to learn that there was no discounted pricing for a three-​dozen order. I will have to continuing sampling and ordering from somewhere else.
I will definitely return to this shop when I’m in the area.

Other things looked good here, but I had the «specialty» donut with lime curd. The curd was delectable, too bad I had to chew through a tough chunk of greasy fried dough to get to it. Bleh.

As part of my birthday extravaganza, I was led to OMG Baked Goodness for a celebratory birthday cupcake and maybe some cookies.
Upon arrival, to my disappointment, all cupcakes were chocolate (I know, I’m weird, I don’t enjoy chocolate cupcakes) the staff member tried to entice me by giving me a small sample of the vegan chocolate cupcake but to no avail.
However, they did have a delicious Lemon Poppy Seed Angel Food Cake which was probably one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Pun intended, it was super moist, the lemon drizzle was mouthwatering and delicious! Definitely a great birthday cake-​lette.
Unfortunately the lavender shortbread just tasted like a heavy shortbread cookie, the lavender flavour was almost absent. Despite the quality of the Angel Food cake, the disappointing shortbread just keeps this review from being a five. Maybe next time :)

It must have been at least six months since I last came to buy something sweet.
Four stars to … BEIGNET with LEMON CURD! It wasn’t warm, just sitting in room temperature and it was still delicious! I brought a friend in the week after and no luck. no beignets that day.

I just discovered this bakery around the corner from my house when I found their page on Facebook. I don’t normally frequent bakeries as I’m vegan, but when I read they had vegan cupcakes I rushed over (I am a lazy sort of vegan who likes it when others cook or bake for me). The cupcakes were great! I inquired on my first visit if they had other vegan treats, and was disappointed to learn that they did not, but I think you can order custom vegan cakes if you like.

This is a great bakery. The first thing that you notice when you walk in is the shockingly large space. It is just one big open room with a production kitchen in the back, and a couple of nice display cases and a cash register in the front. Very simple and cool.
The girls who work there (including the owner) are very friendly, and the treats are delicious and reasonably priced.
They have nutella croissants, and the flourless chocolate espresso cake is yummy, rich, and gooey. I’ve not tried the beef tongue croissant though — I think Kent is a little more adventurous than I am.

HI There,
This wonderful bakery is «newish» to my neighbourhood and such a welcome addition and complement to the traditional bakeries.
The ginger snap cookies are my all time favourite and are a great pick me up at 3ish — just the right sweet and spicy boost to continue on the day with zing.
Will have to stop in for the jalapeño-​watermelon Popsicles — now there’s an unexpected spicy — sounds like a great way to beat the dog days of summer heat .
