I go for the $ 1.99/lb chicken wings. I’ve never had a quality issue with the meat. There is definitely a funny smell inside that might be from some sort of cleaning chemical. The staff is always quick to offer their help behind the meat counter.

DISGUSTINGRACISTPIGS I stood there for 3 – 4 mins infront of the chicken counter waiting to get helped. All the women there just ignored me even though I was making eye contact. The women were eastern europeans, judging from the language that i heard.

I would typically defend these guys, but I’m fed up. They have a sign stating they are open until 7pm, and because they’re my neighbourhood butcher I try to give them all of my business — but it’s getting impossible, because they never close at the posted time. Tonight, for example, they locked the doors around 6:30. Extremely unreliable, and very annoying. Which might be OK if the quality was amazing, but it’s only just passable. As others mentioned, it’s so-so. And the service is barely passable on a really good day. Then there’s the quality control. In the past we have gotten bone fragments in our ground beef, which rendered a pot of chili and a batch of burgers inedible. On another occasion, I got home and there was a cigarette between two chicken breasts that I bought. As others have said — you get what you pay for…

You get what you pay for. I actually walked out today because the staff have a bad habit of serving the first person to bark an order in Portuguese. This infuriates me! If there is a line up you serve whoever was first.

We just visited this location for boneless skinless chicken breasts and chicken wings. The wings we bought were frozen and mangled. They weren’t normal chicken wings, they were more like bits of chicken wings. All broken and gnarly. Disgusting. The breasts weren’t much better. They were really fatty and abnormally huge. Poor chickens. Even though it’s dirt-cheap here, you get what you pay for. This isn’t the first time I’ve purchased questionable meats from this specific location.

Yikes! I am a big fan of the Bloor St location, friendly staff, great selection. I figured this location would be the same. And that would have been great seeing as I live around the corner from this one but alas my first experience will definately be my last. My boyfriend and I arrive to get some roasted turkey breast(which when we took home made me want to become a vegan again), ground beef, pasta sauce and pasta. The bulk of our visit consisted of overhearing a woman protest about the price of a box of chicken legs *she went on for approx 10 min about the price and it halted us cashing out since the whole staff became involved in the dissertation*, and when we were served we felt like we were a burdon to the staff to get service. Especially the woman who served us at the deli counter. It was like annoying to her that we needed service. On top of that this location is signifigantly smaller, dirtier, and smells funny. Next time I need stuff I’ll bike the extra 10 mins to the Bloor St location where people are actually happy there and there is room to shop and you dont feel like you are a burdon to the staff who are standing around doing nothing.

This is a good butcher. The specials are definitely worth getting because the price is right and the meat is good quality. We have gotten good meaty chicken wings there, and some really nice quality steaks. Negatives: The meat is irregularly cut, so one steak might be nice and thick and another might be wimpy. You can however, point to the ones you want and choose that way. Besides a butcher, this place has a deli, dairy section with cheeses, and some packaged goods and frozen seafood. A useful alternative to the far-away supermarkets.

The best butcher in Toronto to get T-bone steaks or NY Striploins … Try Nosso Talho and you’ll never buy meat at Loblaws or Sobeys again !!
