The staff are friendly and the coffee is great but I would definitely come back just for the double chocolate gluten free brownies.

I came here with a friend after class one day after hearing much about it via Unilocal and was definitely not disappointed! Hidden within the depths of Kensington this little cute café is everything you need.
I ordered a cappucino and a classic PB&J (on a whole wheat bagel) and was not disappointed, as both were delicious. The service was great as well; the staff being friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgable about their products. In addition, the prices weren’t bad either, especially when taking into consideration what you’d pay at a more widely known chain.
The décor was cute and rustic, adding to the quaintness of the place; with its little tables set up and hand-​written chalk board menu placed up-​top the counter.
A nice addition to this place that sets it apart from some, is that customers who favour the different blends that are available are able to purchase the coffee of their choice in the quantity of their choice. This is great for those who don’t want to venture into the café on the regular but would still like to hone in and drink their blend on the regular.
It’s a good place to just tuck away and mellow out, with a cup of coffee (or tea) and a little something. When I’m venturing into that neck of the woods again (hopefully sometime soon) I’ll be sure to stop on by!

Little hole in the wall shop that supports local businesses, makes tasty blended drinks and coffees, sells coffee by the pound, as well as tea, and has great staff and service! I came in to meet my two friends and was pleasantly surprised by the aroma. It’s such a cute place too, with vegan and gluten free options (yeaaaaa health!) and racks of spices and teas. I looked for a coconut drink, because coconut is my favorite fruit ever. I saw a blended drink called Hawaii Coconut Dream, and had to have it, even though I knew it was a cold drink. Delicious. The drink filled me up, the beans were cold and added sharp flavor, there were coconut flakes in every sip. I want one as I’m writing this it tasted so good. Great place, great people.

Best coffee we had the whole trip. Had latte and cappuccino which were delicious. Also had a Nanaimo Bar — delicious. Didn’t have correct size for lids for cappuccino cup.

It’s a cozy little place at Moonbeam. Coffee is fresh. The deserts are good and you can buy their roasts to take with you.
Life is too short to drink bad or cheap mass produced coffee. Whenever I’m in Kensington Market getting my bread from Blackbird or shopping at Tom’s Place I’m there getting a coffee because it wouldn’t be the same without it.

A very solid not-​exactly-​alright from me. I avoid giving 3 stars, because either you like it or you don’t, really, but this place is just an indifferent shrug. The service was sad (and I mean that literally — the cashier looked like she was having a bad day, staring at the ground, and avoided speaking to anyone. but uh, I needed to place an order, so). when I did, she completely disregarded my friend speaking next to me, and interrupted her by telling me my own total. I mentioned «oh, and whatever she’s having too» and motioned to my friend, as she sighed dramatically and stared at her throughout the order of a shake. Tuna melt, iced latte, and chocolate shake came out to be $ 16. I felt like she needed a pick-​me-​up, so I dropped the change from a $ 20 in the tip jar (hopefully helping out the service for the person behind me who is left to deal).
Okay, but, don’t order the tuna melt. I’m given a mini bagel, cut in half, with a spoonful of tuna, a slice of plastic cheese, and a cute lil sprinkle of paprika on top. It was pretty adorable, so I assumed a lot of things — it tasted like cardboard and pretty much processed everything. Man, the cheese wasn’t even melted, or warm at all for that matter, and I was done in 5 minutes (literally and metaphorically, ahah). Sucks to read the reviews on here and expect a comfy cozy café, but the seats were all taken up by shopping bags and random bamboo sticks (oh, kensington), the service was drastically unhappy, and the food was just a sad excuse for the business to be all «hey! we’re totally not just coffee-​and-​desserts like every other café, uh, we can make things! have lunch here!» Granted, the latte was great, but I don’t think that’ll bring me back.

Their homemade (I think) bagels are just soo good! I tried the spinach & feta one. I firstly asked for the butter with the bagel, but he suggested no. It was so crispy and soft after he toasted it for me. Different from Tim’s bagels of course and so much better. You should come and try!

It’s surprisingly hard to find a good toasted bagel with cream cheese in this city. This one was perfect and it really hit the spot. Not over toasted, not too messy. It would be nice if they had more flavors but i shall not get greedy. It beats tim hortons any day. I will be back to try their impressive selection of teas too.

I like Moonbean.
The folks who work there are friendly, the coffee is good and cheap, and the snacks are plentiful.
Best of all? You can buy freshly roasted coffee beans in whatever quantity you’d like. Really great for a neighbourhood spot, because I can go down and get what I need from them every few days, rather than fretting over proper longer-​term storage. Okay, so I fibbed a bit — the actual best part is that they have really great beans, AND they roast them well!
The only real downside is that the space can be a bit difficult to navigate when trying to find a spot to sit at peak hours (I.e. every hour), or the bottleneck that occurs when you go to grab a cup of coffee and pay, but also grab a lid. You sort of have to plan a defensive approach around the other customers. Most people are pretty great about it, which alleviates some stress.
Moonbean is pretty essential to the neighbourhood, and I’m glad they offer something unique. Give the peaberry beans a shot, since you’ve clearly bothered to read this far and therefore are a person of great merit.

Moonbean Coffee will be my favourite spot. They have nice tables and seats. They have good coffee and the price is very reasonable. You can bring your laptop and work on your project. It was a relaxed coffee place. I did not find variety of pastries. I do not even know where their pastries are from. They have selection of flavoured coffees. I look forward to coming back there.

A very cozy (but loud) little coffee shop in Kensington Market. I just LOVE the coffee smell & the wonderful atmosphere here. It would be a great place to hang out and relax.

I gotta admit. As much as I like this place, it’s very typical. They have quite a bit on their menu, but nothing really stood out to me.

A rather average coffee shop. Sure, the atmosphere’s full of character with its graffitied bathrooms, rough wooden tables and handwritten chalkboard displaying the menu options. But when it comes to their coffee, I was unimpressed.
The cappuccino I order was just ok. Better than your Tim’s or Starbucks alternatives but for $ 3.50, you’re better off making the hike north to Manic Coffee off College or south to Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.
Baristas were friendly and talking between friends is comfortable here. However, for a great cup of coffee in Toronto I’d go elsewhere.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Moonbean so I decided to give the place a shot. My first impression about Moonbean was that it looked really run down and sketchy. When I stepped in, I noticed lots of jars filled with organic tea and a large bean grinder towards the entrance. I put aside my initial hesitation about the café and I began to appreciate its quaintness and its speciality in providing quality, wholesome coffees and teas to their customers. The staff were very friendly — I appreciated that one of them personally gave me the password to their wifi! The food was very healthy and tasty — everything tasted so fresh and delicious! I didn’t get a chance to try out their coffee since it was so hot when I came in but I will once the weather gets colder!

After hearing only good things about this place, I decided to stop in this evening to get some caffeine. It was quiet inside, however, it looked like there were quite a few people there. I didn’t go roaming around but it looks like there must be quite a bit of space in the back. Seems like a good environment to get some work done. The barista was friendly and I ended up ordering an americano — it was good! Not the best I have ever had, but I definitely enjoyed it. The place has tons of character inside and out. They have a pretty hefty looking menu, and I think they probably have a few gems I am missing out on by only ordering an americano. I plan to go back with more time to grab a seat, and maybe be a little more adventurous with their menu.

Lovely place to get a drink on a hot day. You can sit on the patio or inside with AC.
Had fresh lemonade and herbal leach ice tea. They were refreshing

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed the Moonbean, in some ways I kind of grew up here. My dad’s house was around the corner and this was his office in the mornings (often the Last Temp was the office in the late afternoons, the other half of home.) There are big fresh thermoses of fair trade coffee always on offer, and great baked goods from around the neighbourhood and filling, tasty, inexpensive breakfast options — the toasted bagel with fresh cream cheese and piles of chopped veggies is a personal timeless favourite. The back patio is chill, and the front patio is action-​packed and friendly with lots of conversation cross pollination between tables.

I love local cafes over chain stores. My friends and I stopped by for a cup of coffee and some chit-​chat, we ended up being there till closing.
They have a lot of options for tea and my tea-​lover friend was lost and never seen again in the tea zone. Another friend had a caramel latte and said it was good, I had the Hawaii Coconut Dream and it was very unique. Its not that I didn’t like it, I just felt the flavours were a little subdued. It would have been amazing if the taste of pineapple was a little more stronger. I also tried their chocolate fudge cake and it was thick chocolate layers… yummy.
Will definitely come again… I really like the ambiance.

Time to update my Moonbean Review:
First off, I have to say they’re doing some of the best coffee I’ve found in Toronto. Coffee is roasted a number of times a week by the very machine you can see in the front of the shop. They roast their coffee to the right roast for the right bean. They also go to quite an effort to source micro-​lots directly. Super impressive for a roaster that doesn’t have the scale of the giants like Blue Bottle.
My favourites are the Ethiopian Sidamo, the Rwanda (some of the micro lots have been amazing), and the Brasilian peaberry. Just my taste for medium roasts with lots of flavour (and by flavour, I don’t mean the «burnt» flavour that you get at Starbucks). It’s also great value. The just increased their prices (probably to account for the weak Canadian dollar), but at $ 13.50-$ 14/​pound, it’s still quite a deal.
The café is a bit quirky, but that’s Kensington. I originally poo-​pooed it a bit, but now I say, «Hooray for character». The owner is often there and is always friendly and ready to chat about coffee.
They also have a nice patio. Correction patios. Go to the front to people watch, and the back for a quieter space.
OVERALL, Moonbean is my go-​to place in Toronto to buy coffee beans. Highly recommended.

Moonbean is a coffee lover’s haven because they have no shortage of fresh coffee available which is grind daily. Plus you can purchase an assortment of coffee beans for your own brews at home if you so desire.
Although, I love the smell of coffee, I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but love teas. This place has no shortage of teas either. There’s a large selection that will suit any tea drinker. I just love that it’s mostly organic and the choice for rooibos is amazing. To help the line move faster, just bring the jar of your tea choice to the front and the server will fill a bag of tea for you.
Moonbean also offers a variety of delicious pastries and specials of the day, plus an assortment of cold beverages as well. Everything from beverages to food is reasonably priced and at times cheaper than other coffee places.
A go-​to local coffee place in the Kensington Market that is definitely a neighbourhood gem where you’ll get a mixed crowd on any given day, making for an interesting experience while you sip your favourite hot or cold beverages.
This place is always busy no matter what time of the day. Good luck finding a table at this relatively small coffee place. Should you be successful in finding a table, please mind your conversations as proximity is so close to the next table, that you’re able to hear everyone’s conversations around you. Just a little cozy, but in the winter months it sometimes is welcomed with extra body heat. Definitely a good place to chat up with total strangers and start good conversations if you’re feeling talkative.
The staff are all friendly as well and I have never experienced bad service. They move the lineup as fast and efficiently as they can and for the most part are very patient with customers who takes a little longer than usual with their ordering.

Coffee is cheap and specialty drinks are decently priced, but taste even better. The service is fantastic with the cutest workers. No trip to Kensington is complete without coming here (probably quoting someone else on Unilocal right now).

Coup de coeur pour ce café très sympathique d’un quartier non moins cool, Kensington Market. En effet j’y ai trouvé:
— du très bon café (glacé pour moi en l’occurrence, chaleur oblige)
— du confort
— du VRAI BROWNIE … gluten&dairy-free !!, délicieux avec un bon vrai goût de brownie américain, des noix et tout !
C’est pour ce genre de détails que l’Amérique gère bien !

Ils ont beaucoup de sortes de café et de thé de qualité à déguster, ou à acheter sur place. Une petite terrasse qui paraissait bien agréable et assez tranquille. Des jus, des patisseries, et pour lattes &co, plein de laits différents (je crois), en tout cas j’ai vu du lait de soja en libre service et sur la carte étaient mentionnés des laits de riz, d’amande, et de soja. Si c’est pas beau ça?

Que vous soyez à la recherché d’originalité, de thés ou encore de café, this is THE place où aller.
Niché au coeur du quartier déjanté de Kingston Market, ce coffee regorge de surprises. Dans un décors complètement en accord avec l’esprit fou de l’”area”, une grande diversité de boissons froides (smoothies ou jus frais) et chaudes (toutes sortes de cafés ou thés) vous seront proposées. Je recommande la fleur de thé, qui vous permettra, une fois la fleur éclose, de boire en «tête à tête» avec elle (le thé au contact de l’eau se transformer en fleur. Ouioui c’est vrai, et en plus c’est bon!). N’hésitez pas à la déguster sur la petite terrasse, pour profiter du «spectacle» offert par les passants et même les clients de ce lieux, tous plus crazy les uns que les autres

Encore, je me sens achallant de comparé avec mon Montréal Natal. C’est vraiment un genre de Myriade. C’est très bon comme place, pas cher, bonne viennoiserie, belle terrasse avant et arrière, couvert et non couvert. Je veux dire, Wow! Le staff est sympa, rapide. La qualité du café est top. J’y suis resté un bon moment. En plein dans le quartier Kensington, probablement mon quartier préféré a Toronto!
