Metro Hound

Unlike others here, I had a negative experience, and honestly have been less than impressed since the recent ownership change.
Today I went in to look for a new harness, we couldn’t enter the store because the owners dog was wandering unleashed and my dog is not great when on leash confronted with others not on leash. When asked if she could please secure her dog so we could come in, the response was half hearted, and while she did do it, it felt like I was being judged and inconveniencing her…
Then we had to ask for help, no smiles, no kind words for the dogs, and when there was nothing in inventory that met our needs, she simply walked away.
It was a negative experience, and there are plenty of competitors that will be happy to take my money, so along with this review, I will make my «vote» that way.

Very cool concept I have yet to try (self-​serve dog wash) because I do not live in the area. I did stop in one day to shop for my dog and the owner is so nice. She carries a vast array of neat toys — many of them are very pricey but the one I purchased has brought joy to my dog’s life after the loss of her kitty friend. She carries it everywhere and has fallen in love. It was around Christmas and she gave free treats to me as well. I really liked this place and next time we’re in the area for a vet visit I’ll definitely drop by.
The resident dog is a sweet Australian Shepherd that wanted rubs and hugs. Very pleasant experience.

Great place to wash your dog. Easy and well laid out. They provide towels, shampoo and a waterproof smock. You can also pay extra for additional services. Friendly and well run.

Metro Hound is a God send. We have 2 poorly trained and behaved Great Danes (I know bad owners). We took them to Metro Hound for a Christmas bath and the staff there was so great! They made bathing our Dane’s soooo much easier. There facility is amazing and very well laid out and is perfect for dogs of all sizes.

I have a smaller dog (Manchester Terrier) and this place worked wonderfully for us. But it does looked equipped to handle all dog sizes.
He was in desperate need of a wash and this place had everything we needed and more. A great selection of shampoos, conditioners (many of which were Westminster dog show caliber) and all the musts for washing a dog (apron, towels, dryers, hooks on wall for leashes, hand held shower heads etc.) without getting completely soaked in the process.
Better than the tub at home.

I was at our new vet for the first time, and after my dog’s yearly injections and a new medicine, I needed to stick around the vet’s office for 30 – 45 minutes so he could see her again and make sure she wasn’t reacting strangely to anything. So, we went for a walk and ended up stopping into a few dog-​friendly businesses along our way to bide the time.
Loved the staff here — helpful and cheerful, but not overbearing. There were two staff working at the back washing dogs, and when I came in, one (I assume the owner) came over to greet me and say hi, showed me all the sales, let her know if had any questions, which was great, and then she went back to dog-​washing. Love it!
There was a MEGA sale on the day I stopped in, by chance — WOHOO! It was the Kingston Road Summer Street Festival or something like that, and though the rain meant that not very many people were out, Miss M. and I still made a morning of it!
Baskets of $ 2 and $ 5 items, some normally as expensive as $ 40!!! That’s my heaven. Cheap but gorgeous.
Pup and I went home with two new dresses (one a party dress in blue paisley silk with lavender taffeta and pearls, the other more casual), and new pink and red golf shirt, an elastic attachment for her leash that helps with jerking/​pulling, two new bandanas, a new toy, and some homemade treats! And it was all about $ 25-​$ 30! AMAZING!

Metro Hound is so charming that each time I’m there, I feel like I’m starring in a dog food commercial. A stylish selection of superior quality dog gear is displayed on the first level, and dog baths on the second. We take our filthy hound once a month for a thorough wash (and photo op). He loves it.
For us people, full-​length waterproof aprons and elevated tubs. For him, a generous variety of organic shampoos & rinses, a selection of brushes, as well as cotton balls and cleaning solution for his ears. Tubs and drying table have rubber steps so the dogs can get up on their own. Blow dryers, and stacks of towels too.
Christine, the owner, is great, and is graciously helpful without ever getting in the way. She also clips nails (not yours) for an extra five bucks. It’s simple, quick, and so much more entertaining than doing it at home.
Bring your camera. You and your dog will never look more adorable.
