Established in 2006.

Menchella’s Gourmet Pizza actually started in a small town one hour outside of Rome called San Lorenzo. Nonna (Ernestina) Menchella, and Nonno (Pasquale) Menchella had a little storefront which Nonna made fresh breads and pizzas. Nonna Menchella used her grandmother’s bread and pizza dough recipes. With the war passing right through their town all was lost, and in turn they set out for a better life and came to Canada in the early 1950’s with only $ 5 in their pocket. When they arrived in Canada they went to work right away so they could start their new life here, and with that they didn’t have the opportunity to start their business here, but it didn’t stop Nonna from making her breads and pizzas for family and neighbors. These family recipes have been passed down to us, and in turn to carry on the family tradition and the dream of our grandparents we opened up Menchella’s Gourmet Pizza.
