Mary & Ernesto

I won an Olaplex treatment from an online contest Mary and Ernesto were running.
Mary was kind enough to alter the treatment to include the Olaplex in a half head of highlights. I have had some negative experiences with my hair since moving to Toronto and Mary was kind enough to answer all of my questions thoroughly and with an obvious knowledge of colouring.
When I arrived to the salon (which is beautiful and modern) I instantly felt that I was in a place where people «know what they’re doing». Mary explained the use of Olaplex in conjunction with colour treating your hair. I explained exactly what I wanted for my highlights and Mary delivered. It is quite clear that Mary is talented in her field and is quite proficient with colour.
My hair was done swiftly and professionally and the highlights turned out beautifully. My hair felt soft and looked sleek (I did not even have a trim and it still looks healthy).
Ernesto trimmed my bangs and was friendly and quick. He knew exactly what he was doing and did a great job.
Not only was the service and treatment exceptional — the price was excellent.
I would highly recommend contacting Mary and Ernesto if you are interested in service that is exceptional and reasonable. I left feeling like an absolute star.

I hate to ruin a perfect 5-​star review, but I have to be honest.
I came here for the first and last time a few months ago. Without getting into too much detail about my hair, it had been damaged two years ago after a really bad hair job, and I had worked really hard to make it healthy and long again (deep conditioners, expensive hair treatments and products, etc). I didn’t even consider ever lightening it, because I didn’t want to risk further damage, but then I heard about a product called Olaplex that will allow it to be lightened without damaging it. I looked up salons that offered it, and I found this place with all of it’s 5 star reviews.
I explained what I wanted to Mary very clearly — lighter roots, a darker base (from the previous lightening I had done to it) and a few blonde highlights throughout. I also explained what had happened to it, and told Mary that if she thought lightening it would further damage it, I’ll forgo the highlights. Long story short — I ended up with roots that didn’t look like they had been touched up at all, no colour applied to the old base, and way, way, way too many highlights. The highlights were an ashy blonde which doesn’t suit me at all and made me look older. The trim also made it look really blunt — I think that’s a correct description (when there are no layers, so after you dry it and straighten it, it flips outward at the bottom). I didn’t like it, but Mary and Ernesto seemed to love it, so I didn’t say anything.
The worst part was, as it was being trimmed and dried after the colour treatment, I could see how dry and damaged it was. And every time I brushed it for days after, I could see little hairs breaking off. It really sucked because all of the damage just wasn’t worth it, considering how awful I thought it looked. Especially after all of the time I had spent trying to make it healthy again.
I went through the typical phases after getting a hair-​job you don’t like: looking at myself in the mirror trying to convince myself I like it, telling myself it doesn’t matter and to leave it alone and let it grow, and finally going somewhere else to get it darkened and texturized less than a week later.
I never complained to Mary and Ernesto, because they were so nice, and I’m sure if I did they would have done something. But I figured damage is damage, and there’s not much that can be done except taking care of it and leaving it alone. It looks okay now since it’s been a few months and I’ve been taking care of it, but I know if I had never come here, my hair would be healthier and longer today.

The best salon for blonds! Firstly, I felt so welcomed+relaxed at this salon. Having blond hair issues, I required someone who understands Olaplex. My appt was with Mary, a colour specialist with 20 yrs experience. Not only is she is fun to work with, but she understands the complexities blonds face, her level of commitment to the industry is extremely impressive. Mary is a forward thinker. Where another salon downplayed Olaplex during consultation or belittled my hair texture as excuses not to try, Mary knew how to keep moving forward where others declined to bother. I highly recommend this salon, especially if you are «going blonder,» look no further, Mary+Ernesto are the blond «masters» of Toronto in my opinion. Additionally, I brought in a photo to describe the snowy-​milky fresh white shade of blond I aspire to switch to +Mary embraced the opportunity, she did not chastise me. With Mary and staff, we are working together as a team towards my goal. I felt warmth in all conversations, you’re treated like part of a family. I’m looking forward to remaining a regular client for years to come. Thank you Mary+Ernesto and most amazing staff!
