The checkout line is slow, don’t call others for backup. Need more people in the front and back cashiers when is comes to a huge line up. Have good things.

Marshalls has improved their selection of merchandise. What is sorely lacking is customer service. I visited this location one week day afternoon to pick up one small item. What I found was an extremely long wait to check out. One cashier had been serving a lady with several items. When I put my one small item on the counter, the female cashier abruptly said«no I am closed». Eventually I was called to a check out and the cashier said«sorry for the wait» and then left me to process a return! The line at the checkout grew even longer and some of the other cashiers called for additional help. One cashier asked repeatedly for«Oscar». Eventually a customer said«excuse me. Is there anyone who can help on cash?» because the length of the line was enormous. While I stood at the checkout without having been served, a male cashier came to another checkout, ignored me and said«next person in line». None of the other cashiers told the apparent manager that I had been waiting longer. Had I not really wanted this one small item, I would have walked out in disgust. Appalling.

I lived in the USA for a while, so I know what Marshalls is really supposed to look like – which is practically nothing like her sister retail store, T J Maxx, and carries much better, higher quality clothing and shoes. In Canada, Marshals is really an extension of Winners: same merchandise, same prices, and I see no difference at all. The only improvement about Marshalls is the way they arrange their shoe section(by style, rather than by size). Other than that, Marshalls and Winners look and feel exactly the same, they just carry different sizes of the same merchandise, and that’s why I keep going back to visit these stores. Same as with Winners, do not expect any assistance from staff. They are either working at the cash or clueless about what they carry and how they can help you.

The selection is not bad, if you are willing to spend hours to find something. However, customer service, according to Canadian standards, leaves much to be desired. I asked for a discount because of the lipstick stain on a white shirt’s sleeve, and the manager not only refused to give a discount, but was very rude about it(as if I asked her to give me the shirt for free). I think, they should be trained better on how to refuse a discount politely. She should have said, «Sorry, we do not give discounts.» Also, who is going to buy an expensive white shirt with a lipstick stain on a sleeve?

Poor customer service. Much smaller selection than other locations.

I don’t know what is the big deal about this place. It’s like Winners gone wrong, but aren’t they all owned by the same company? it’s completely disorganized. Looking for a size 4, it had everything that had a 4 in it: 4, 14, 40, S, XL, M There’s a clearance section for everything, where all the sizes and styles are jumbled up. And you don’t know where the clearance vs actual starts. There’s not much here either. Winners has much more merch. but I really cannot understand the difference.

I’ve always been a Winners person. I even worked there when i was 16 so i really know what to look for and how to get threw it quickly, so when i heard Marshall’s was coming to toronto i was excited cause Winners is starting to fall off with the quality of good finds lately. I went to Marshall’s and left with nothing but some house goods. I was thoroughly disappointed. The styles of clothing hey have are way worse then Winners. The thing i do like is the way they have there shoe section set up… much better then Winner’s but thats about it. The selection of shoes isnt any better then Winners. I may give it one more shot but realistically its location kinda sucks and Winners is everywhere. Not really inclined to do extensive shopping there

Marshall’s is in the old Winner’s location off of Wickstead on Eglinton near Laird. I LOvE Marshall’s in the states, and go to the Niagara Outlet one when I can. Main reason is that I’ve picked up better deals at Marshalls than I did with their Canadian counterpart Winners(All of whom are owned by TJ Maxx/TJX). I’m happy to have another option other than Winner’s but, the store looks exactly the same as before, the prices are the same and the selection is the same, so I’m a bit confused as to why they’d bother introducing another brand. This is also true since the newer larger Winners is practically just around the corner. Hmmm?
